Communities must address homelessness through expanding shelter options, investing in support services, and implementing policies that tackle root causes, rather than criminalizing homeless individuals through fines and jail, which worsens their situation and fails to solve the underlying problem.

We cannot turn a blind eye to our homeless neighborsAdded:
As a community, we cannot turn a blind eye to this crisis. We must work together to expand shelter options, invest in support services, and advocate for policies that address the root cause of homelessness. Criminalization is not the solution. These individuals are already facing difficulties, and imposing fines and threatening jail only worsens their situation, which is unhelpful and inhumane. Destroying their tents, throwing away their belongings does nothing to solve the problem. We cannot fall into cruelty just cuz it makes us feel like we're doing something.
