[00:00:58]Hey, what's up you guys? It's your boy Carlos Music and I'm back with another interpretation or better yet an aha moment. Now, this aha moment comes from the Doobie Brothers. What a fool believes. What a phenomenal song. Hey, Michael McDonald on keys. Now, look, let's establish that this one right here is in Dflat major. But before any explanations, let's bring down my handy dandy keyboard.

[00:01:24]Yeah, look. D flat major. Now, let's go over that scale. The chords in that scale based on the number system. So, look, one is going to be D flat major.

[00:01:36]Two is going to be E flat minor. Three is going to be F minor. Four is going to be G flat major. Five is going to be a flat major. Six is going to be B flat minor. Seven is going to be C diminished. Back to the D flat major.

[00:01:56]Now look what we do with some tricks here, man. So we're going to look at that number uh system and see the tricks that they're using. Now the first trick is starting it off with this chord right here. Now what this is is the G flat major 7. Wait, that G flat major should be going with a 1 2 3 4. That's the fourth chord of this scale. But what are we doing? We're using the fifth bass note, right? We're using the fifth harmony underneath the fourth chord. So the four over the five, right?

[00:02:35]Backing along. Right. So five, the four is acting right.

[00:02:41]long ago, right? Wait, this is our D flat major, but it's over the 1 2 3. So, we're using our one over the three. That's another one right there. So, going back four over the five, four, one over the three. 4 2 right, it's acting right again. The four over the five, right? That's going to be our fifth, right? This is the A flat major. So that's one, two, three, four, five, right? But we're going to use the sixth harmony, right? So again, four over the five, four, one over the three, four, 2, four over the five, five over the six, flat six. Right. And then on that change, right, we're using that five over the six, right? One, two, three, four, five, six.

[00:03:45]This A flat major is the fifth chord of that scale, right?

[00:03:53]Right. Again, that four over the five.

[00:03:56]Those are some cool tricks. But look at this other trick right here now.

[00:04:02]Right. So, what we're doing, we're making it move, right? How are we doing that? We're just using this A flat major to make it move.

[00:04:15]So, watch watch how many times you see the A flat major in between chords. I'll slow it down.

[00:04:33]Now watch. You see that A flat major creeping into everything? Watch.
