But, the stock dropped 5%. Why? Because Microsoft also told investors that it plans to spend $190 billion on AI infrastructure in 2026 alone. It's gross margin hit the lowest level since 2022 because of the data center costs. Investors looked at those numbers and said, "We see the spending, but where's the proof that it will actually pay off?"

This revenue gap, the distance between what's being spent and what's being earned, is estimated at $600 billion.
