[00:00:21]Jesus is telling the parable of the king who was holding a wedding feast for his son. He continues to describe the king and he says, "And he sent The king sent his servants to call to summon those who had been invited, those who had been called to the wedding festivities. And they were not willing to come."

[00:00:42]All right. Well, this last line there, you're probably disappointed. They were not willing Oh, that's a verb. That's just asking, just wanting, just wishing to be completed with the complementary infinitive. Virtually every infinitive ends in ain or ain. This one does not disappoint. It's building on a second aorist stem.

[00:01:00]Elthon means I came or they came. And you yank off your augment, you're left with the stem elth. Second aorist stem of erchomai plus present infinitive ending. So, that's a second aorist active infinitive, meaning to come, and it is a complementary infinitive. It completes out the idea of the verb thelo there. Now, someone is wondering, "Why are we augmenting here with an eta rather than an epsilon? Why don't we have the form et Oops. Why don't we have the form ethelon? ethelon Good question. We could fly back in time and say, "Hey Matthew, Apostle Matthew, why did you write this form here? Why didn't you put an epsilon there?" And he would say, "Hey, I You know, I was really um you know, I was a tax collector for many years. I was I'm I'm really pretty good at Greek, and that's the correct spelling. That's the right form." Well, then we could poof there.

[00:01:47]Mounts Mounts Bill Mounts could appear to instruct Matthew here in a little bit more mor- morphology that he perhaps didn't know. Most people don't know the history of their language. And if you could look at Mount's morphology of Biblical Greek, he has a little note about this word that originally the stem here is ethel. So, you see it's still behaving like it has that epsilon on the beginning though that is lacking in the present tense. Let's parse a couple of other things. This kolessai is an aorist active infinitive of kaleo and aorist active infinitive kaleo. Here we have a participle used substantively of kaleo. You see reduplication, you see the men, bam. That's a perfect passive participle and the article does the rest of the work for you. It's masculine accusative plural. Finally, apestilan.

[00:02:33]That is a liquid verb. So, we do not have a sigma but we do have an augment, we do have a regular ending and and it is from the verb apostello. That losing of a lambda helped us realize that this is not an imperfect, it is an aorist active indicative third person singular.

[00:02:48]The whole thing again, and he sent his servants, the king sent his servants, to summon, to call all those who had been called, those who had been invited to the wedding festivities and they were not willing to come. They were not willing to come.
