Doctor Reacts To DR. STONE 1x3: Weapons of SCIENCE- Get Excited!!Added:
Uh, just one of the greatest inventions in human history. Smartphones?
>> [laughter] >> Wrong. Wrong. Yeah. Oh, okay.
>> Oh, heck yeah. What's going on, YouTube?
Welcome back to the channel. We are excited to join our Dr. Stone family for another episode of Dr. Stone, episode 3, season 1.
Uh, I am Dr. Todd, by the way. I'm Alicia. Excited to jump into this one?
Yeah. Ready to see how it ended.
Obviously, a little bit of tension >> I know. with Senku and Tsukasa. By the way, the way that ended sort of I know we've sort of been clamoring on about how amazing Senku is, his mind, his judgment, like everything. He's like honestly, like I'm his number one fan.
But just like him standing up to Tsukasa in that situation really shows who he is cuz Tsukasa's much bigger than him. But that's going to set, I think, some very interesting dynamics as we move into season or sorry, episode 3.
>> Yeah. Please consider hit that subscribe button, comment, like, all those things.
We appreciate it so much. Let's go.
Subscribe.
This guy's going to be trouble. But if we hadn't woken him [music] up right then, we would've been lion chow for sure.
Now he tells me he only wants to save the youth. I doubt he'll do anything [music] rash until he learns how to make his own revival potion. Yeah. Have to stay tight-lipped about the miracle fluid in the cave. AWESOME NEWS, YOU GUYS!
>> OH, NO.
>> NO. SEE? I got a whole POT FULL OF MIRACLE FLUID FROM THE CAVE.
>> AW. We can use THIS STUFF TO FINALLY BRING BACK YUZURIHA!
>> [screaming] [laughter] >> SO, WHAT'S THIS MIRACLE FLUID YOU'RE >> OH, NO.
I won't waste my breath trying to explain the science behind it. Showing you will be 10 billion times faster.
10 billion times? You're getting to witness humanity's revival first hand.
>> [snorts] >> Senku definitely though has another plan. Yeah.
>> Like he's he's quick with it.
>> Yeah. I I we'd save you. I always clothed her.
>> [laughter] >> What the hell? For some reason, we don't have enough revival fluid for even one person. Crap.
Oh, no, don't do that.
We'll hang back and play 20 questions or something while you're gone, but do try and make it quick. What you big of? Of course.
>> [sighs] >> FULL STEAM AHEAD. [screaming] YOU THINK THAT WAS HIS WAY to get What? I'm the fastest, so it makes more sense for me. Mhm.
But I'll need to know exactly where to find this miracle fluid.
Yep, I knew he couldn't resist taking the bait. Yeah.
>> Yeah, I was going to say anything.
I think it was his intent. Yeah. There's a 10 billion percent chance he'll stop my plan of bringing everyone back.
Tsukasa's gone, isn't he? Yeah, like a bolt of lightning. Never seen a guy move so Let's make some revival juice. I was going to say. Get back ASAP. Yeah. I felt like he had enough. That was his way to get Tsukasa out of there. That's Touching it turns my finger yellow. So, the miracle fluid is just nitric acid.
Not quite.
So, is he going to test it?
Probably, but it's not going to work.
What's going on? You literally just said there wasn't enough revival fluid. Do you really believe I would set out a collection pot that was the wrong size?
>> [snorts] >> Why did you send Tsukasa out to get some more?
>> I wanted him gone before we revived her, even if it meant revealing the location of the cave.
>> Why would you want to get rid of Tsukasa? HE'S LIKE TOTALLY AWESOME.
He wants to remake this world into a place where only the strong survive, and that kind of thinking doesn't move [music] me 1 mm. Not 1 mm.
A civilization building game gets me excited.
Me, too, Senku.
>> [snorts] >> No need to explain. It's cool. I trust you to make the right decision.
Something happened while I was gone, huh?
Yeah. Shishio Tsukasa is an awesome guy.
Oh.
Oh. [groaning] Who happens to be a murderer.
>> [gasps] >> Oh.
>> [sighs] >> He [snorts] just killed a whole family?
Sorry to keep you waiting, but I'm here, just like I said. I'll help you.
DID YOU FORGET THE WORD "HURRY", YOU BIG OAF?
>> [sighs and gasps] >> YOU JUST TALK.
WE SHOULD BE MORE LIKE, YOU KNOW. HE wanted to savor it. Yeah. WAIT, WHY IS NOTHING HAPPENING? DON'T WORRY, YUZURIHA, IT'S FINE. IS THIS FINE, SENKU?
WELL, THE REACTION isn't instantaneous.
The petrification is much like cryostasis. Mhm. Yeah. Stone shell acts as a protective coating made from trace metals in the body. An unknown process caused them to phase shift, and they took on a petrified state. You lost me, Senku.
>> [laughter] >> If just one part is exposed to the nital and begins to break down, it initiates a chain reaction that ripples across the organism's body.
>> She's coming back. I'm glad we didn't have to wait till the finale.
>> I've kept this inside me for 5 years.
I'm going to tell Yuzuriha. I'M GOING TO SURVIVE THIS, EVEN IF IT KILLS ME. I was able to stay alive because of you.
>> Yeah. Yuzuriha?
>> Just trying to Yeah, trying to get that pronunciation right. I've loved you for hundreds For thousands of years.
>> of years.
What if she doesn't feel the same way about him?
>> I know.
>> [sighs] >> What if she loves falls in love with Tsukasa?
She didn't seem like the kind that would like a murderer.
Yeah. Is that you, Taiju?
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you wait [music] 3,700 years.
It's like I've been asleep forever. I feel like you saved me. You did, right?
You saved me from something.
It wasn't me. Senku did all the work. He spent a whole year working on that revival.
>> helped, Asagiri. Yeah. You need to make a decision before he gets back. There are only two options. Plan A, the two of you run away this instant and Plan B, we join together and fight [music] to stop Tsukasa's murder spree using the weapon >> Oh.
COME ON, MAN. OBVIOUSLY WE'LL STAY AND fight by your side.
>> Okay. All right, well >> People do you think we are?
I have no clue what's going on, but I'll help you >> [laughter] >> Yes.
I love how she's she woke up and she's ready to go.
>> I know. If Tsukasa IS KILLING PEOPLE, WE'VE GOT no choice >> people.
Well >> That's a matter of perspective.
I don't know about that. I call it calling them to the benefit of the new world.
He's not even trying to hide his murderous intentions and who gets in his way.
If things go bad, please take care of Yuzuriha. I'm going to STOP HIM RIGHT HERE AND NOW.
NO. This guy killed a freaking lion with his bare hands.
>> [laughter] >> YOU'RE 10 BILLION PERCENT SCREWED.
I feel like this is like Avengers Thanos versus Captain America. Bust out MY SECRET WEAPONS.
>> [screaming and groaning] >> BY SHOOTING AT HIM NOW, I CAN AT LEAST BREAK UP THEIR FIGHT.
OH.
Nobody has ever taken one of my kicks full force and remained standing before.
>> respect. what's >> more interesting is the feeling I get that you actually refuse to attack me just now. Why is that? I DON'T HIT ANYONE. YOU CAN HIT ME OR KICK ME OR WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT TO DO.
HELEN YEAH, YOU GOT TO STOP BREAKING THOSE STATUES BECAUSE KILLING IS WRONG.
END OF STORY. [laughter] SENKU IS LIKE WHAT?
TAIJU, let me make sure I understand you. You'll let me pummel you as much as I like so I stop breaking those statues.
Oh, THAT'S KIND OF SWEET.
>> EXACTLY.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND. You aren't making any kind of deal.
>> [laughter] >> HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU WANT TO COME AT ME? I'M NOT GOING TO STOP TRYING TO STOP YOU.
THAT [snorts] GIRL YOU JUST REVIVED, what if I told you I'd kill her instead?
Oh.
>> [panting] >> I get it now. This is why Senku was telling us to run away before. Yeah.
Respect to Senku.
>> Senku though for like giving them the option. Like say like like He's like I'll you're in love, like go far far far away or you can stay with me and fight.
I I would take my chances with Senku cuz [laughter] I think he's he's going to figure out weaponry cuz he's right. Like when humans are no longer top of the quote food chain because we don't have weaponry and and you know, all we have is our ability to perhaps outsmart the animals but in the case like this, you had the times where yeah, if you were the biggest and strongest, then you basically had the control, you had the power until you introduce weapons. Yeah.
And so then you obviously we're going to have somewhat primitive weapons to start but through science and chemistry we can create more powerful weapons.
>> Yeah. Um so I'm curious if we're going to go down that route.
All right. Seems it did hurt him. He's bleeding like a stuck pig. He'll need a couple of days to sleep it off. Yeah.
>> He's concussed.
>> not fight other.
Ew. Oh, man. Yeah. Quit worrying about some random statues.
>> [sighs] >> I will do what I need to do.
Stay out of my way.
Yeah, he's just trying a lot. Nap time's over. Rise and shine, Tyke.
Give me a freaking break. Is this it?
You're just going to lose that easily, you big oaf.
>> No way.
>> [laughter] >> ARE YOU REALLY OKAY? I'M made of stronger stuff than that.
>> [laughter] >> WE GOT TO STOP HIM BEFORE HE CAN MURDER ANYBODY ELSE. WAIT.
>> [laughter] >> DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
HE SHOWED US WE CAN'T STOP HIM WITH BRUTE FORCE.
>> YEAH.
STILL, we got to do something.
Chemicals, maybe. Well, yeah. Like put him to sleep. Oh, you could.
>> Mhm. There's only one sure-fire [music] path to defeating a monster.
Advancing civilization and crafting weapons of science.
Amen.
>> Weapons of science, yep.
I do I do like how Tyke's superpower literally is that he just does not quit.
>> Yes. Huh, that seems wasteful.
A coup, staging a scene, obviously.
>> [laughter] >> This way it'll look like he tricked us out so badly we just took some food and ran off.
>> Are we really going to give up?
>> No, but it'll look like it.
If we can make some weapons of science before he realizes what we're really up to, then victory is ours. But if he gets wise to us, game over. So, I wonder what the thing on her head is cuz it's not like headphones, right?
>> I thought it was headphones. But they're above her ears. Maybe they're just cuz she's not using them, they're just sitting there. I don't know. That's like two full marathons. We can knock it out in 5 hours.
>> [laughter] >> The cherry blossoms seem different somehow. Because the ones we're used to You want to try blossom again? Prunus serrulata aren't self-pollinating. They must have gone extinct right off the bat.
>> [gasps] [sighs] >> What an amazing view. It's perfect.
>> [laughter] >> A scope? A sextant. It's been 35,970 [music] seconds since sunrise. You just spit that number out like it was no big deal.
Well, while he was a statue, he counted for hundreds of billions of seconds.
>> [music] >> So, he's pretty good at it by now.
>> [laughter] >> It's supposed to tell you your exact location based on the time.
Unfortunately, this one seems to be total garbage.
>> [laughter] >> I'm guessing we're around Kamakura, but I'd love to know our true coordinates.
>> Think there's still any buildings we [music] can use as landmarks? They've all crumbled after this long.
There's nothing left.
Hey, is something the matter?
ISN'T THAT OH, SHE recognizes Oh, one of the statues. It looks like there's some kind of clearing in the trees up ahead.
So, we're going to see what her like Is that landmark still standing? What her skill is.
Mhm.
Our location is 35° 19 minutes north.
>> [laughter] >> Oh. Yes. 139° 32 minutes east.
>> [music] >> Lucky see.
She still have it on there, too.
>> OKAY.
HEY, WHAT'S WRONG, USOTSUKI? DID SOMEONE MAKE YOU CRY?
>> USOTSUKI. WAS IT ME? OH [laughter] GOSH.
IT'S NOT THAT KIND of crying. It's not anybody's fault, okay?
It's just this is a lot for me to handle. I'd imagine. None of this feels real to me yet. Seeing the Great Buddha of Kamakura like this makes me realize that we really are in Japan. Thousands [music] of years have passed by without us. I don't know if it's a headband. Very curious about it. I thought about my mom, my dad, and everyone else. Made her sad.
Huh.
Come on, there's nothing to worry about.
>> Senku, that had to move you at least 1 mm. I know, [laughter] right?
Well, she had Okay, so either their headband or their headphones like a listening device or their noise-canceling headphones cuz she's on the spectrum or something and she's had them since on since she was a child. I don't know. So, I don't know. I'm just curious. Maybe we'll find out.
>> Yeah.
And she's got like a tattoo >> on her shoulder. Mhm.
It's the same shape of the headphones, too, like the circular. He's still standing strong after thousands of years, JUST LIKE A GOD OR LIKE A BUDDHA.
WELL, ANYWAY.
The statue is made out of bronze.
The chemical compound's resistant to corrosion.
There's no trees or plants or anything growing around the Buddha. Kind of like he wanted us to find him, so he made it super easy. That's leaking copper ions like crazy. Yeah. And those [laughter] are toxic to most kinds of vegetation.
All right. Yeah, so here. Sorry Sorry for the quick cut in, but this is kind of a little bit of a overlap with the Pop Culture Diaries. Now, I don't think we've been exposed and for those of you who haven't watched Pop Culture Diaries, it's brilliant, so go check it out.
Those of you who have, you'll get this, but so bronze is made up of copper and tin. And so copper has a tendency you can you can get copper poisoning as like as as say bronze like deteriorates and breaks down and then Okay. chronic copper exposure can lead to things like liver failure and things like that, but it's also quite toxic to the surroundings. And so obviously, Senku and Mao Mao both know that very well.
Uh-huh. Which is why they they should meet someday.
>> [laughter] >> We'll use bronze to make mirrors. Time to give my crappy sex in an upgrade. I just need some of this. Senku!
Oh, no.
>> Don't hurt the great Buddha!
He's either really superstitious [laughter] Why so mean, you dummy? I like how she's like enjoying their kind of Yeah.
playful interaction. She's just enjoying being alive.
>> Well, that's true, too.
That looks delicious.
What the hell are you doing? Guarding us against predators. And Tsukasa might come after us, too. He just like sleeps there.
>> [laughter] >> You need rest to do your job, YOU BIG OAF.
>> [screaming and groaning] >> LOOKS like our big water buffalo is >> [laughter] >> DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME. THERE'S STILL PLENTY of juice left in the old tank.
We'll be just fine.
Hey, Yuzuriha. Your toe is still kind of rocky looking.
Oh. Not going to lie, it's not great.
But I don't want you to worry about me.
But I AM WORRIED, THOUGH.
>> [laughter] >> IT'S COLD.
OH. It's like the pain is finally starting to go away.
>> Does the revival fluid have some kind of healing power, too? No, that would be amazing. It's just cracks filling in.
Another part of the depetrification [music] process.
Still alive, even with these cracks on our faces. Okay. Oh, that's what that is. Was that like cracks on her arm then, just shaped into a circle? Mm, I don't know. I just remembered something that's in Hakone.
The room's been torn up. There's all these footprints. Seems like they panicked and ran away.
>> [laughter] >> Took the bait. That's exactly what they want me to do.
Didn't take the bait.
>> than that. I know Senku's not the kind of man to turn tail and run. Yeah. But why would he lie about Taiju being down for the count and then secretly head west?
My gosh, he's too smart. It's obvious.
It's obvious.
>> Senku's planning on using his knowledge of science to make weapons to fight me.
Okay.
But where'd they go?
>> [laughter] >> We made IT TO THE GOAL, GUYS. HOT SPRINGS HERE. OKAY. WOW.
This is starting to make sense then.
It's great. Yeah.
>> [laughter] >> You two better not forget the real reason that we traveled all this way.
>> So probably looking for sulfur. Okay. So what's this weapon of science?
>> Oh, just one of the greatest inventions in human history. Smart phones?
>> [laughter] >> Wrong. Wrong. Yeah. Oh, okay.
>> Oh, heck yeah. The Stone Age was 2 million years ago. Gunpowder [music] was invented fairly recently in comparison.
You have to make the gun. Well, you could. That's probably the easier part.
>> Yeah.
>> 1,998,700 [music] years. A giant leap in civilization.
Time to get excited.
>> [laughter] >> I'm excited.
If they make gunpowder, I don't stand a chance.
>> No, you don't.
>> Senku can do it. So I have to stop him before that happens. His hair is like >> For us, Japan is full of volcanoes.
Go to any hot spring and there's a plethora of [music] sulfur. Just Mhm.
And that's the main component of gunpowder.
>> like Yep. We're about to create [music] our ultimate weapon against Tsukasa.
>> Get excited.
>> [laughter] >> Some black powder should do the trick just fine.
Oh, no, it's over. All right, Alicia, are you excited?
>> I'm excited.
>> I'm excited. So that his speech there definitely moved me like 2 mm. Oh, okay.
2 2 mm.
>> Yeah, so look, I mean, I there was a commenter and I'll try to find the comment and share it later about how like Senku is like their hero because this was a science teacher and I agree completely. So like obviously working in medicine, generally speaking, you probably should have a pretty strong admiration for science.
>> Mhm.
>> Cuz science was what paved way for medicine and modern medicine and modern scientific practices. Yeah, when he stumbled across this hot spring kind of like or like volcano bed, that's where sulfur lies or lives. And so sulfur, he's right, that's That's the main ingredients in producing gunpowder, black powder. Now, you know, today what we might call gunpowder is not exactly the same thing as black powder from from historical time. Yeah. But, you need basically three things for for gunpowder. You need sulfur, and you need coal, and then you need what's called potassium potassium nitrate, which were like sometimes called saltpeter. And so, this is like the three ingredients. So, if you imagine like a bullet, if you will, uh like a like a campfire, your coal is like the wood. And so, in coal, you can find that from basically burning soft woods without oxygen, like in low oxygen state creates coal. Okay. And so, you get your coal, and then you have your sulfur, which works as like an accelerate. And so, it's like having a match, basically. So, it lowers the like the burning threshold. Lowers the burning temperature, basically. So, it allows it to burn quicker or more readily, I should say.
>> Yeah. And then, of course, what do you need then for all fires? Oxygen. And so, that's where that saltpeter comes in or the potassium nitrogen or potassium nitrate, sorry. That's where potassium nitrate comes in. Cuz you can imagine like in a in a gun, like the bullet is there's not oxygen in there in that chamber. And so, that you would need that that saltpeter to then basically provide a ton of oxygen in that a moment, right? So, kind of that igniter, if you will. And that causes that combustion, which causes boom, you know.
Yeah. So, that's So, he's going to create gunpowder, and then of course, he's going to develop a a vehicle, so to speak, to place the gunpowder in order to be able to defend themselves from Tsukasa. Yeah. Cuz you're going to need something like that in order to fight something someone like that. So, that's really cool. That's really exciting. You know, also like fireworks, I I love fireworks. We've talked about this, I think, on some of the other reaction stuff we've done. This is also like gunpowder is used in fireworks, right?
So, like you have sulfur and all those things in the fireworks in order And then, actually, you can use, interestingly, calcium carbonate Mhm.
from our last episode, the fourth potentially the fourth thing here. So, actually, you can use calcium carbonate to help speed along or sort of the process the chemical process for developing potassium nitrate. And so he might utilize that. I'm wondering if that's where his connection was. That but you can also see uh calcium carbonate in fireworks cuz it's actually a colorant. So it can help like create like bright colors in the fireworks and things like [clears throat] that. So anyway, awesome episode. Did you learn all that in med school?
No.
>> [laughter] >> Obviously. No. So I No, I mean you learn some of it in chemistry, all right? So when I took chemistry and organic chemistry, so you do learn and then I just happened to be really interested in fireworks and pyrotechnics.
>> [laughter] >> Yes, you are. You got a big show you're planning. Yeah, well and then yes, for He's not making his own fireworks.
>> I'm not I'm not quite Senku. I will buy my fireworks. But I'm going to sync them up to music and I'm going to have like portable PA system and yeah, anyway. And you can get like electric ignition switches essentially where you can have modules that allow you to set off fireworks from a distance that way you don't have to light them. Yeah. They call it they >> Except for when they don't ignite.
Except for if they don't ignite, but I probably won't go near it. Yeah. Like we're going to ignore that one.
>> Yeah. Till later. But anyway, love it.
No, I just think like in then the history of like ammunition and things like that that's always very fascinating. So anyway, [music] Yeah. that's what you get. So Anything else you want to add? I don't think so.
All right, awesome episode. Can't wait to jump into episode four. Thanks for coming around for this one. Please consider checking out the next one. And again, if you didn't already at the beginning, please hit that subscribe button help us grow. Uh till next time, good night.
>> See you.
