Micromanaging VIN-matched parts from AutoZone for a Porsche perfectly captures the middle-class anxiety of maintaining a status symbol on a budget. It’s a rationalization of the "luxury tax" that proves owning a high-end machine often results in more financial stress than driving pleasure.

This Is Why You Don’t Skip Porsche Service for JIFFY LUBE!Added:
This is the exact reason why I'd never buy a new Mercedes. Look at this price point. $137,000 brand new. And I'm sure they discount the sticker a little bit, but nevertheless, this is still a crazy high price point. This is the same exact car, but 3 years old, so it's a 2022 same body style. Look at this. $75,000 price point with 39,000 mi. This is also a certified unit that's probably off lease, guys. There's a $62,000 difference between these two cars over only 3 years. Imagine losing over $20,000 a year on your new Mercedes.
>> What's up, guys? Welcome back to the channel, man. Welcome back to the channel. Some people finding out the hard way about buying these luxury cars.
The oil changes is not cheap. I ain't going to do too much talking. Let's get right into it. Let's go.
>> Mercedes and them [ __ ] said $800 for service B.
>> That's right.
>> That's right. We got pay to play.
>> I won't be accepting any more texts this month, any more phone calls this month, unless it comes with some money. I'm sorry. That's all I got.
That's all I got. Like >> everybody find out the hard way. You want to ride around these luxury cars, it's going to cost you to maintain them.
>> I got a brand new car, a Porsche Cayenne, white, black interior, all leather, just the perfect car. I have two kids, so I needed something that I, you know, wouldn't get filthy. Um, about 2 months into getting this car, I started getting these service lights that went off. Okay, first time I took it in, took it straight to Porsche, and they said that I needed like a bunch of work done on it. So, I needed brakes. I needed a bunch of stuff. They quoted me like $10,000 for it. I was like, "Okay, hold on." So, I ended up calling my uncle. He has a dealership and I was like, "Hey, they're quoting me this."
He's like, "Pull the car. Like, I can do all of that. I'll service it." Cool.
Took it to him, got new brakes, got a bunch of stuff that it needed under under $10,000. So, it it was good, thank God. Um, after that, you know, I was pretty good for probably about 6, 7 months. And then my service engine light came on again. And this was probably about August, August 2025 at this point.
So, it goes on and I'm like, "Oh, I probably need a oil change. It was an oil light." Not not an engine service light. It was an oil change, oil, whatever. Um, I was like, "Okay, I need a oil change." Yeah. Probably about time. I hadn't gotten one since I got the car. So, I take it to Jiffy Lube and they were like, "Oh, we don't touch these cars." Like, >> she took a Porsche to Jiffy Lube.
>> These cars are foreign. Sorry, we don't touch them. And I'm like, "Okay, whatever." Like, "It's just a car. I need an oil change." Like, whatever.
Ended up leaving. What am I going to do?
I went to another engine or another oil spa and I'm like, "Hey, you need an oil change." And then kind of same thing.
They looked at me weird and I was like, "What?" They're like, "Well, we don't carry this type of oil. We don't carry these filters." And I'm just like, >> "Okay, like what am I supposed to And then they're like, "If you want us to service it, like you need to go get it.
You need to get the oil. You need to go get the filter." So that's what I did.
Okay. I went to AutoZone cuz I I was just like at this point looking up like, "Where do I get this? Where do I get that?" Whatever. Went to AutoZone. I told them like, "Hey, my car needs an oil change." I gave them the VIN number.
They looked it up. They told me, "Oh, it requires this this amount of oil. You need this type of filter." Cool. Like they looked up my exact VIN and gave me the stuff specific to the vehicle. I even asked them, I was like, "Can you double check?" They're like, "Yeah." Got the stuff, left AutoZone, took it back to the oil spot and told them, "Okay, I got the stuff. Like, is this the right stuff?" And they looked it. They're like, "Yeah, cool." They looked it up in their system. They did the work. Cool.
Check. Right. I got a oil change, whatever. And then I drove it pretty cool for like I want to say maybe 3 months. Like everything was good. And then fast forward to the end of January.
I get another light that comes on on my car and I'm like, "What the heck could it be?" Like I just got a oil change. Um I don't know what it is. And mind you, I got this light. I think it came on on like a Thursday. I was flying out to Seattle the next morning. So I didn't think much of it. I was like, "I can't do anything. Like I'm leaving tomorrow morning. I don't have time to take it to to you know, Porsche to go whatever." Um I still hadn't packed our bag. So got this light. It came on on a Thursday.
went on our trip, came back on Monday, and I turned my car on, and the light came on again. But then the car was making like a really weird noise, and I'm like, "Okay, this is weird." So, I get on the phone with Porsche. I scheduled an appointment, and I ended up taking in my car, and when I got there, they're like, "Oh, like it's an it's an oil light." I was like, "What could it be?" Like, I just got a oil change probably 3 months ago. I don't drive crazy like that, so it's not like I need another one. And they're like, "Honestly, like with Porsches, they have a certain amount of oil that they use each year. And um if you are a Porsche driver, like three times per year, you can take it in. They give complimentary oil swaps, whatever it is. I don't know like verb verbatim. I can't quote what he said, but he said something. My thing is why didn't you just take it to Porsche in the beginning? Like what? I mean Jify Lou.
I can't get over that guys. I'm sorry.
>> About like it's complimentary oil that they put in the vehicles cuz those cars use a lot of oil. I was like, "Okay, cool. Whatever." But then I told him I was like, "But it's also making like this really weird noise." He asked me to turn it on. He listened to the noise and he's like, "Oh yeah, like we're going to run a diagnostic on it." They didn't get around to finishing it. So I ended up leaving it there. And then I get a call 2 or 3 days later. I get a call in an email. Tell me why they quoted me $102,000 and some change. $102,000 and some change >> because there were metal shavings in my oil casket.
>> That's crazy.
>> Why would you even quote me $102,000?
>> Wow.
>> Just recommend a new vehicle at that point. I'm like, who is going to pay $102,000? Mind you, I still had $30,000 left to pay on this car. So, I'm already thinking like, if this car is a total loss, what am I going to do? I'm pissed off.
>> So, I ended up pulling the car from the Porsche. I paid the diagnostic. I didn't have them service it cuz who was going to pay $12,000 and got it to to my uncle shop. His guy ran the diagnostic and sure enough he confirmed that literally there were like little metal fragment pieces in my oil. Now this is where you guys tell me cuz I'm like was I wrong not taking it to the Porsche dealership?
Probably I'm just a girl. I'm just trying to get a oil change at the same time. Like >> how is all the oil in the filter? How is that wrong if I cross referenced it two three times? I'm in the process of like trying to see if I have a case here. I spoke with a couple people and they're like you definitely have a case. You just need to get a couple pieces of paperwork together for the attorney.
Bro, they will never cover that. They'll fight that to the end. First of all, you going to take your Porsche to Jify Lube?
That's ridiculous, bro. And if you know your peoples had a shop, why wouldn't you take it there first?
>> Oil change. I hate adulting. How did I spend $300? That's debrief. So, first, my actual oil change, $85.
Shop service charge, $4. Oil filter, $14. Cabin filter $43. Next up, they come around again. I'm like, >> hold on.
>> Did she say cabin filter was $43?
>> They come around to my window again. I'm like, oh no. What now? What now?
>> Crazy. Hold on.
>> They told me that there was debris in my coolant. $99.99.
And then they come to my window yet again and say, "Your windshield wiper is broken." I'm like, "Really? What's wrong with it? He pulls it up. He's like, "It's broken." Uh, yeah. There's like metals sticking out of Do it. Add that on. $17 with the military discount. It came out to be $171.
$25 off.
Nothing against that shop or those employees. I would actually recommend that shop. I just hate adulting is the real thing here.
>> Adultting, maintaining your car. Man, these people crazy, bro. the D going cabin filter. You can go to Walmart and get that for like $10. I never understood why people pay somebody else to change that. I understand everybody is not familiar with how to find a cabin air filter, but if you look in your manual, it'll tell you or a simple little Google search right there for you. Never pay them to do that. I'm telling you.
>> Hey y'all, real quick. I just want to know I have a Mercedes C-Class and it's a new vehicle. So, I've gotten my service A already and it's almost time for service B. Let me know if I've gotten played. And for people that actually get their service done at the Mercedes dealership, because when I had called them, I initially was told that an oil change, cuz I'm thinking service A is an oil change. I don't know. They said it's 350. So, I'm assuming that's all of service A. I'm assuming, you know, whatever service A is is 350. I get there last year and they I whatever they all do the wi w the tire realignments to make it turn and stuff and the windshield wipers all that comes up to $1,000 and like $75 literally and I was like y'all just like bamboozled me. I got I did it anyways cuz I was like he's telling me that you can't go to a regular dealership blah blah blah.
So, for service B, I know that's usually the more expensive one, and I've seen a video on here that has said they paid like four or $5,000. And when I saw that, I was like, "No way." Like, they must not take care of their car, and there must be something wrong with it.
But I'm scared it might actually be that much for to get an oil change.
>> I already know this about to be priced.
What's that? $1,100 never fails. People continue to buy these dag on Range Rovers and then complain about the maintenance >> to get an oil change and 900 [ __ ] dollars.
>> Keep going.
>> That's a [ __ ] Louis Vuitton bag.
>> That's typical what you're talking about. It's a Louis Vuitton bag. Like I say, I always recommend if your car is still under warranty to take it to the dealership uh to have the oil changed or if it's leased. And I think it's mandatory you take it to the dealership if it's leased. But if it's used and it's not under warranty, there's no need to take your car to the dealership for oil change. Unless you just got to you got to connect at the dealership and they going to do it for dirt cheap. You don't have to take it to the dealership.
>> Total comes out to 1469 with >> Okay, >> bro. It never fails.
>> You want the receipt?
>> Oh, yes, please. See, this is the receipt. the invoice. I mean like the the the card receipt.
>> No, that's fine.
>> No, you're good. Okay, >> you're good to go, sir.
>> All right. Thank you. That's it.
>> That's crazy.
>> I don't care what kind of Mercedes it is. If it's a small Mercedes, the big boys like the Maybacks and all that, you expect it to be a lot of money to get a oil change. But these days, even the little little Mercedes-Benz, the oil change is a lot of money. incorporate any service plans. You would pay for yearly services.
>> So, they charge you for the oil changes.
>> Yeah, it's more than just an oil change.
There's a lot of different filters.
There may be a lot more to it that I'm not getting into just cuz I don't know.
>> How much is that usually?
>> Estimated 500. You could visit any Benz dealership. The prices should be very, very similar, but it's out of pocket expense. It's not a prepaid.
>> And what's to stop you from just going to my guy Gus and getting an oil change?
>> God forbid there's a situation you're held liable. they're gonna really like pull that over. You know what I mean?
It's not a problem till it's a problem.
I'm sure he knows how to change the oil, but you know, this is a hybrid. There's probably different things that they should be checking on and resetting and fresh air filters and tire rotations and wiper blades, but I would play it safe.
>> Weird that it's not covered, at least the first one.
>> They give you the option of residualizing it over the lease, like proportionally, but when we did the math, it probably didn't make sense.
That's right. I didn't add it.
>> All right, no worries.
>> Leaving a nice taste in your mouth, huh?
How do I just kick myself into my own mouth?
>> Nobody ever likes that. I wish, you know, I wish that was free and tires were free. Those are the biggest two complaints.
>> My Toyota Seoia free, bro. Free.
>> That's the way it should be.
>> I know it's not a Mercedes, but I got to tell you, I like my Toyota Sequoa better than the Mercedes. It's a different animal.
>> Is she happy? The most important is, is she happy with her truck?
>> That's crazy. Ain't no way I'm going to lease a Mercedes and my oil change is not included in the lease. Like, I thought that was always a part of the deal. So, that goes to show you there some things I don't know, guys. Ain't no way. It's no way possible I'm leasing any type of luxury car. Y'all don't put the the oil changes in in the whole leash deal. That's crazy. I ain't never heard nothing like that before.
>> One of the things that I could never really find out when I would search online for like the price of things. Um, I have a Mercedes GLC, a 2023, and um, I couldn't like like how much the service cost, like is the maintenance package worth it? Um, and so I just wanted to show you the price. So I went in for my schedule B. So I did my schedule A last year. So this year I do my schedule B.
And that's the one time a year that they they they check it and that I get my oil change. Um, and it cost $620. At the same time, I also get my my North Carolina inspection done, and that's like another $22 or however much it is.
But as you can see the service B inspection and it breaks down. I guess that's the price for the parts.
>> Yeah, I think it's taxing. Bro, >> I want to make sure I focus in. This is actually what all they do, which me coming from a Nissan, this seemed very expensive for this, but it like I know it. I I know what car I have. So, schedule B at the dealership that I go to is $620. Then I can show you the last page. Hold on.
>> So with the inspection and everything, this is the total. And again, it's once a year. This is when I get my oil change done. They change my well shield wipers.
Um I need to ask if they actually rotate my tires. I I I think they do, but you know what? I'm going to call and ask because if not, I probably need to get them rotated, but even though it like checked all the boxes to say that they were okay. And again, my car is only 2 years old. But I actually bought it June 12th of 2023. I remember it because it was so much drama in my life at that moment. Um but yeah, so I got green pretty much on well not pretty much on everything. So yeah.
>> And that's not too bad. I mean once a year. I mean I guess it's not too bad, but that's just the stuff you need to factor in when you decide to get a luxury car.
>> Oh my god. Luxury cars. Luxury cars.
Nice to have. nice to, you know, drive around and so on. Car needs a oil change. You got to take it to the dealer or to a specialist, somebody who does it because there's a certain way that you have to take the take the filter. The oil is not the regular place. Brought it to two different oil chain places.
Brought it to um Jify Lube and somewhere else. I forgot the name of the other place. Oh, I'm so sorry, ma'am. No, you know, we don't change um that kind of oil. What kind of oil? Oh, it's not the oil, ma'am. It's your car. You know, I think you should take that to the dealer. Forget the dealer. That's $700.
found a specialist now. Okay. Okay. They specialize in luxury cars. They'll change the oil. $300 TO CHANGE THE OIL. Oh my god. So guys, I hope this video is helpful. Uh, a lot of people hit me up asked me to do a video about the maintenance on, you know, these luxury cars. And I've done several videos in the past. So, you can also go back and watch those videos.
