This raw observation provides a visceral case study of how geographic scarcity accelerates economic displacement in coastal markets. It effectively bridges the gap between abstract urban planning theories and the harsh reality of the modern housing crisis.

The Cost Of Renting An Apartment In St. Petersburg, FloridaAdded:
What's up everybody? This is Jose from Southern Life. Welcome to St. Petersburg, Florida. Have you wondered what it would cost to live in a nice new apartment in St. Petersburg, Florida?
What is the cost and wait even more, what are some of the hurdles and problems that people are facing when moving here to St. Petersburg? On today's video, we're going to explore all of that. On today's video, we're gonna find out how much it costs to rent an apartment here in the beautiful city of St. Petersburg.
Now, at first that seems like a pretty simple task. Find apartments in St. Petersburg. Look up what they rent for and there's your answer. But it's really a lot more complicated than that because a lot of the apartments here are going to be HUD housing. Others are going to be senior living. And it's become actually pretty challenging to get a straightforward figure. The city of St. Petersburg has some unique challenges with housing. For one, it is an extraordinarily expensive city. But then there's uh also other issues like people hitting golf balls at these parks.
I guess the first thing we should try to understand is why is St. Petersburg so expensive? And it simply comes down to geography. St. Petersburg is a peninsula.
It's just a little strip of land surrounded by water. And that means people want to live here.
This building right on top of us is called Reflections. And while it looks like apartments, they're actually condos. And if you want to live here, you're going to have to cough up the Big Melon. The smell of uh Snoop Dog is everywhere. All right. So, this is the Portland, but the Portland is actually HUD housing. Then here we have city place, but this is senior living. So basically what I'm trying to say, even though it looks like there's apartments everywhere in downtown St. Petersburg, there really aren't. And then over here you can see that they're building what looks like new condos or apartments or town homes. So yeah, there's options, but are any of them for rent?
Personally, I couldn't imagine paying a million dollars to live somewhere where you got to crawl over homeless people to get outside. We're going to have to continue our quest to find pricing as it seems that what's available here isn't just something you can just rent as it were. Whether it's St. Petersburg or Miami, anytime you get into these high-rise apartments or condos in the downtowns of cities, there's only one smell in the air, and that smell is always there. Whether you're outside these apartments or inside of them, the smell of Snoop Dogg is everywhere. And if you do not like that smell, you probably will not like living in one of these highrises in the downtowns of a city because literally, it's been my experience doing food delivery that every single time I go into these highrises here in St. Pete or in Miami, I find the same. I heard about this in a prison movie.
But now with an overwhelming smell of uh Mary Jane and of course homeless people on every corner, it already seems like this might be a crappy place to live.
But in fact, St. Petersburg is one of the safest cities in the United States by homicide rate. So despite the fact that superficially it feels like a crimeridden crap hole, you know, with all the homeless people and the smell of urba everywhere, analytically it is actually like way safer than any other city you could imagine. Like your chances of being a victim of a homicide in Louisville, Cincinnati, Cleveland, or just about any other city in this country are like four times higher than here. And this is really a trend everywhere in the United States. It's places that have a lot of petty crime are usually going to have very low violent crime rates.
St. Petersburg is also easily the most left-leaning of all cities along the west coast of Florida. And that makes it a unique place. It makes it more fun.
You have more young people.
You have a more openminded left-leaning environment, which for some people is something they would want. But then you also have other not so positive things about that. For example, petty crime seems to be an issue. Homelessness seems to be an issue. And of course, the prevalence of uh the green is very common here. It's uh it's just everywhere you go. Um, I find it kind of trashy, but to each their own. So, that brings us to the question, who would want to live in St. Petersburg? Well, younger people would love to live in St. Petersburg because it has a great downtown, one of the largest downtowns in Florida. Lots of places to drink, lots of events and parties. Older hippies love St. Petersburg. This city definitely has a vibe. The people are chilled. They're welcoming. are friendly and that attracts a lot of people, particularly what we would call older hippies. Genuinely, I believe that St. Petersburg is a great city for young people and for happier older people. It seems like a very vibrant place to live.
The city is absolutely gorgeous. From the waterways to its downtown, it has a large and very walkable downtown. St. Petersburg really has a lot of great things going for it. The only downside to that is because of the geography and how safe and attractive the city is, it makes living here like ridiculously expensive. So, trying to get you guys these prices today, trust me, is going to be more than challenging. We're going to have to be very creative to get you guys these numbers because when a place gets so expensive, finding out the actual cost becomes a little bit more complicated.
So, parking is a huge problem in St. Petersburg. Uh, I just got trapped between this car and the one in front of me decided to park literally, you know, he's in a small car, but he literally decided to park so close to my car that I can't get out. So, parking is going to be really challenging on today's video, especially since I'm looking at the reviews of many of these apartments. And one of the main uh issues people are complaining about is having their vehicles towed away.
Check this out, guys. Cars in reverse.
Won't go.
When it does decide to go, it's going to go hard.
Look at this, guys.
Parking brakes not on.
Why won't it go in the reverse?
Look at this, guys.
It won't go in the reverse.
You guys are seeing this, right?
Okay, let's try to turn it back on again and see what the problem is. Can you imagine a a truck that doesn't even have 100,000 miles, two years old and it doesn't go in the reverse.
See if I can put it in neutral drive.
It'll go in drive. Let me see if I can get it going reverse now. You guys saw that, right? I had to I had to play with it with it to get it to go. And I've had people ask me, Jose, has General Motors done anything because you've been uploading videos about all your problems with the truck. They haven't. The Lemon Law lawyer, they told him that if they're not going to do anything, so practically we have to sue them. The dealership, their lawyers did nothing, so we would have to sue them in theory, you know. So, the reality is that I am kind of screwed with this truck. And I'm really screwed with this truck. We just got out here. Ain't been out here a minute. just literally left my car and I already got uh pan handlers aggressively asking for money and throwing stuff at me because I said I don't have any money. So, um that's kind of um what you get here. So, I told him and told him I don't speak I don't speak English, man.
So, but anyways, that dude right there with a black t-shirt just literally got out of my car instantly came up to me not just panhandling but kind of like aggressively panhandling. So, there's that. All right. So, I did get parking here, and it looks like it's free parking. Now, one thing that sucks about here. Oh, is it free parking? Let's look at the signs. It says 2-hour parking.
Okay, guys. So, they got the same exact program and signs as you do in Sarasota.
So, it's two-hour parking.
>> Now, what I found interesting about this fan handler was that, you know, he was aggressive, like really in my face, and then when I said I don't speak English, he threw something on the ground and left angry. Uh, so I'm out here trying to pay my bills, too. Like I don't and I don't give money to people. I give people food, but I don't give people money who's specifically demanding money. So anyways, um, so let's find out what it actually costs to live in downtown St. Petersburg. You know, because there are so many homeless people, literally even finding a restroom here is difficult. Um, but let's talk about like the complications.
So these apartments right here are actually apartments. Now, the residents have complained that they're getting towed all the time. In fact, there are at least two reviews that I saw of people who say they live here and they've had their cars towed away. Now, there's a lot of bars and restaurants, but I'm going to be honest with you, I have tried a lot of places here in downtown St. Petersburg, and it is mostly aimed at tourists and drunk people. I have not found a single authentic good restaurant here.
Obviously, there are a crapload of new apartments in downtown St. Petersburg.
This is just uh the thing here. So, this right here is 9:30 Central. And I've looked at some of the reviews. Well, one of the most common one is that people let their dogs poop in the elevator. And this is something that I've seen before, and it's basically like millennials and hipsters who are stoned out of their mind. They decide at 3:00 in the morning that they want to walk their dog, but they're not sober. and then their dog just goes in the elevator because after all, when the owner's drunk or high all day, the dog's just glad to get the crap out of the house. So, the dog goes in the elevator and well, they're stoned out of their mind. So, they obviously don't do anything about it. And that is kind of uh the issue here. But basically coexisting with these hipsters, I don't know what these kids are called. Uh what do you call these kids, right? Like hipsters, millennials, I don't know what the crap they are. coexisting with people that are this self uh entitled and snobby is uh it's a trying thing for your patients. Like just sitting here now, my my skin is crawling.
They finally decide they're going to walk their dog, but then the dog just goes in the elevator because of how nervous it is to go outside in this environment. And then the dog just poops there and then they leave it there. And well, that seems to be like a common thing. Now, for most of us, watching your dog poop in an elevator and just deciding you're going to leave it there would be uh beyond all reason, but uh you are in St. Pete here.
I don't like to just uh make generalizations, but uh bless their hearts. Basically, that's just the only way I could put it.
So then the other fairly common review at this particular apartment complex here on Central is uh an interesting one and it is that people for some reason or another will have an accident which by the way two people have had an accident here. So, accidents must be fairly common here. And looking at how these people drive, it isn't a surprise. But the other fairly common thing is that people will get into an accident all of a sudden and then they'll get a rental car and then what's happening buddy?
But while having a rental, their rental gets towed away. Even though they try to communicate with the office and explain to them that they have a rental, the office ignores them, tells them it isn't a problem. But sure enough, the next day they find out that their rental got freaking towed and they get absolutely no response from the management company.
That does not sound hard to believe. And if it was one person's account, but it's happened to several people. This person's from Alabama. They are way out of their league out here, buddy. I wouldn't even come to a place. I I don't even understand why you'd come to a place like this. So, basically, what does it cost to live here on Central?
like to get a slice of this dream or should I call nightmare? By the way, tags from Utah as well. What is going on in St. Petersburg, man? So, the question would be, how much does it cost to get a slice of an apartment to etch out your own little corner here in St. Petersburg? Let's find out. Okay. So, a one not even a onebedroom, just a um not even a onebedroom, a studio starts at over $2,000 a month. And it is a $500 square foot studio. So, it isn't like the biggest studio you've ever seen.
It's like a tiny studio. I can obviously uh understand why there's a problem with um doors pooping in elevator because it seems like everybody uh has a dog here.
So, dogs pooping in the bladder. Makes sense. A normal one-bedroom apartment here will set you back $2700 a month. And keep in mind, you also have to pay like other fees on top of that.
So, I would assume that $2700 a month with utilities and all the other fees could easily easily bring you to $3,000 a month. So, to give you guys like a realistic number of what it would cost to live in downtown St. It would not be a far stretch to say that you would need easily, no doubt about it, $3,000 a month for a onebedroom apartment here in this part of downtown St. Pete. And let me add this. Yes, in theory, right, in theory, a studio, a 550T studio is at around $2,100 a month. I got a feeling that when you include all the other fees, it's going to be uh significantly more What's happening, player?
>> What's happening, boy?
>> What happening, man? Uh, it's going to be uh significantly more than that.
All right, guys. So, interestingly, the person who earlier asked me for money that he needed food is sitting over there rolling up a blunt on a sidewalk.
So, obviously, the money was not for food. Maybe that's food for him, but uh it sure as crap ain't for me. So, let's say you need a two-bedroom apartment.
Like, how much would a two-bedroom apartment cost in downtown St. Pete? If you find yourself needing a two-bedroom apartment here in downtown St. Petersburg, you're going to spend somewhere in the ballpark of $3,500 to $3,600 a month with your fees that are probably going to be your water, your light. Who knows what type of services you have to pay for to live here. Community valet service, valet garbage service, who knows, right? There's going to be fees and there's going to be things you have to pay for, water, light, this, and that to set yourself up comfortably in downtown St. Petersburg in a two-bedroom apartment, you're going to need around $4,000 a month. If you have a pet, most of these communities are also going to have a pet fee. You're probably wondering who the crap can afford to pay for that. Well, judging by the size of these apartments or condos or whatever the crap these are, a lot of people.
Because uh well, they're building more and they're building huge. So, it would seem like a lot of people are in that price range.
So, the complaints in these downtown apartments are all very similar. People complain about noise. Homeless people. A lot of people complain that their cars are getting towed even though they're not supposed to be getting towed. And once their cars get towed, there doesn't seem to be much that can be done about it. Now, I'm not here to judge anybody, but you do see more guys walking with guys and girls with girls and you do like boys and girls here and couples like that. So, there is definitely an ambiance here. Every once in a while, you'll see a uh couple that is uh different genders. It's it's kind of the the thing here. So, like I said, this isn't everybody's cup of tea, but there is a bench here facing an intersection.
From this bench, you can sit down at the intersection of Central and Martin Luther King.
A lot of people like to see life. They like to see other people. They like to see just environment. And um if you're one of those people that likes city living, then this is about as good as it gets. The weather is usually always warm. St. Petersburg is known as a city that has some of the warmest weather in the United States and uh more sunny days than many other cities.
How I would describe St. Petersburg.
It's like if San Francisco moved to Florida but didn't bring their jobs.
Now, despite how expensive life is here in St. Petersburg, I can tell you that even on ride share, it isn't a high dollar area. And the people here seldomly tip. I mean, they they just won't give it up. People here can be rude, entitled, snobby, self-centered, completely unaware of respecting decency for other people. And that can sometimes make living in St. Petersburg kind of aggravating. So, one thing that I've noticed, you know, as far as generosity of people is that the more um redneck a place is, like the more they appreciate a working person.
And St. Petersburg is about as far from redneck as you can get. Doing ride share here kind of sucks. People just don't tip whatsoever.
On top of that, people can be extraordinarily rude and argumentative.
So, the line For me, smelling herb all the time and dealing with snobby, entitled people wouldn't personally work. The experiences of dealing with people here for me has been horrible. But to put it into a understanding for you guys, today I had two airport trips here in St. Petersburg. I took somebody to the airport and I brought somebody from the airport.
Neither one of them tipped. And it's been my experience here in St. Petersburg that people here just don't tip whatsoever. I mean, not tipping in itself sucks. But what I think sucks even more than not tipping is people who don't talk. So, basically, you're stuck on a 30 or 40-minute ride with somebody, right? And they'll refuse to say hello when they sit down. Um, they won't talk to you. They won't make eye contact.
They just want to be a completely anonymous turd in the backseat of your car.
And that for me is not cool because I don't do this just for the money. I do this for the experience of meeting people. So like today I got stuck with two people going to the airport and they weren't very talkative. They're wearing their headphones. They don't want to talk to you. They don't want to make eye contact. You know they're not going to tip you. I mean anybody who behaves like that on ride share, you know, probably the number one reason they don't want to talk to you is because they don't want to make connections because at the end of the day, they know they're not going to tip you one freaking dollar. And as you know, you don't have to tip on every single Uber ride. I do personally because I understand like the struggle of the working person out here. So, I always tip. I couldn't imagine getting into a ride share and not tipping. The the driver would have to be for me not to tip my ride share driver. Um it would have to be like absurdly disrespectful on their end. I just don't see me doing that. Every time I come to St. Petersburg like today two rides to the airport not a single one of them tipped.
You just don't do that. Airport rides you know it's a little extra. Like you know you got a tip if you're going to the airport. Not here in St. Petersburg you don't.
I personally like I said have a complete dislike for how scummy this city is. It just isn't my cup of tea. Now I acknowledge it's a beautiful city. Um, you know, it's safer than many other large cities in the United States, but it just isn't my cup of tea. Let's just take Brighton down the road. More rednecks, more Scottish people, more Irish people, more Spanish people. It's kind of a more like downto-ear family-based place. Um, now it's way more dangerous than St. Petersburg. You know, doing rides here in Branson can be terrifying, especially at night. Um, a lot more criminal activity, but at least you get a chance to talk to the criminal before he robs you.
It's interesting to see uh the array of license plates here today from all over backwards America. I love how on my YouTube channel, people are always like, "Oh, this guy is a liberal. This guy is a leftter. He's a commie." And um if if you watch my videos and places like this, uh the things that I have to say are not definitely not the nicest. All right, guys. So, I remember that there is like this really cool public bathroom here in downtown St. Pete and I was able to park where I wasn't supposed to.
Let's get back. So, you know, as harsh as I am on St. Petersburg, it is a beautiful city and it is safe and sometimes, like I said, the people that are here, the residents can be a little inconvenient at times and parking can be an issue. So, it isn't perfect. Nothing is perfect, but you know, if you want to live in a beautiful, lively Florida city, um, St. Petersburg really is one of the most beautiful cities to live in Florida.
Like I said, overall the vibe here isn't my cup of tea, but I do like beautiful places. I do like nature and cities and people and stuff like that. It's just uh Oh, bless their hearts.
And then there's this y'all. All right.
So, if living in downtown is like too expensive or too much hassle, you can live off of 54th North. This is kind of a nice area of St. Petersburg. Now, the reviews for this place are not stellar.
Despite the fact these are brand new apartments, the situation here doesn't seem very fun. So, these are apartments that have a huge now leasing sign. But the reviews from the residents living here are definitely not that great. So, let's try to understand what's going on here. So, let's start off with the reviews. Lots of reviews for pests, particularly rats and roaches. And people don't just have reviews, they got photos in case you don't believe them.
The other complaint that people have here is that if you have a pet, you have to be on the first floor. But we saw with the other apartments in downtown St. Petersburg why that might be the reason. Probably because if you allow people to have pets upstairs, they'll let their dogs pee and poop in the elevator and they won't clean it. Now, you probably don't have this problem in every city, but hey, here in St. Petersburg, people just are that entitled. There's quite a few bad reviews on this community. So, let's get started with the bad reviews so you guys can understand how bad it can get. So, one of the most common bad reviews is people saying that there's no parking and if you try to improvise parking, you'll get towed. Basically, they might have a problem with there being more vehicles than parking spaces. This seems to be a reoccurring theme here in St. Petersburg. It's a very compact city and finding a place to park a vehicle can be a hassle. One person noted that the square footage on the apartment they were going to rent, which they put a deposit for down or an application fee.
Turned out that the square footage wasn't exactly the same as advertised.
So, here's something you got to be careful for. I never thought about that.
Okay, that's that's definitely a new uh a new one right there. I haven't heard about that one, but hey, in the state of Florida, there's a thousand ways to screw you over. And this person's just figured out a new one. It's right across the street from a tiny little mobile home park. Seems like a completely different world of simplicity on the other side of this canal. On one side, opulence and luxury, and on the other side, it's kind of stuck in town. Now, this is kind of like an older and charming type of neighborhood, but there seems to be, for some reason, this giant brand new apartment complex in the middle of it all. And guys, I guess not only the color, but the smell of that water. What type of contaminated garbage, y'all?
Dude, this is just disgusting, bro.
Like, this looks like straight up sewer runoff going in this freaking water. It looks horrible. Garbage. It stinks.
Like, literally, it's making my skin my skin crawl. Look at this, guys. This is what the city of St. Petersburg is putting out into the water, guys. This is, look at how much garbage is coming off of this uh canal here. And all this garbage is just going straight out probably into uh Tampa Bay. Look at the color of this water. If you've wondered why are the fish dying. Also, look at the water level. You can see that earlier. You can see that earlier the water level was that high. So, it's actually down right now. Crazy thing is look at the water level here and compare it to where these apartments are. So, literally all it would take is like a 6ft storm surge and I'm sure that parking lot would be like completely underwater. So, we don't want to be parked here too long because this apartment has a lot of reviews for predatory towing. So, we got to make sure that while we're sitting here recording across the street, we don't get towed away because that kind of seems to be the theme of these apartments here. I just can't believe how disgusting this water is, y'all.
This is horrible. But judging by the reviews about the predatory towing, I'm going to guess that I probably don't want to be here too long. It seems like if the residents are getting towed away, I'm not a resident. I'm certainly going to get towed away. So, let's just wrap this up real quickly. I'll give you guys at the end of this little tour the price for these apartments and what it costs to live here. And let me just add that that water, not only is it disgusting, but it also freaking reeks. You can literally smell it from over here. Maybe sewer runoff. Not sure. A twobedroom apartment here will set you back starting at $3,000 $300 a month. That is absolutely absurd. And I can barely breathe. Now they are offering one month.
>> What are you doing?
>> Oh, I have a YouTube channel.
>> Southern Life. Okay. Okay. So, you only care if it's good for you. All right.
So, yeah. Nosy, but only if it benefits them. So, anyways, that is absurd. 3,300 for a two-bedroom apartment is beyond absurd. That is crazy. That is a lot of money. And I can't emphasize enough how you can literally smell that canel from here. It literally reeks horridly. So, but it is crazy, guys, that a two-bedroom apartment here starts at around 3,300.
If you just need a one-bedroom apartment, it will be between $22 to $2,300 a month. And I guess you better check that square footage because somebody's complaining that they're doing false advertisement on the square footage. So, I think that's absolutely insane because you're not directly in downtown St. Petersburg. You're kind of like 10 minutes out. And don't get me wrong, this is a nice area, but come on, dude.
You're literally across from a mobile home park. Now, the mosquitoes and the noiums are bad here. Obviously, the color of this water says it all.
You can only feel bad for the nature here in Florida. And that looks like I don't know, an entire sheet of plywood right there. You can see there's soda cans, just all types of garbage floating through here.
There's uh unmistakably this is sewage runoff, guys. And just let me remind you that like it smells horrid. Like before I saw it, I smelt it. This is so unacceptable.
So, this obviously would have to be salt water because uh you know the mangroves.
You can literally smell like this has to be this has to be sewage runoff. Like the smell is completely you can't mistake that smell. It is literally sewage runoff and it's literally a landfill. All right, guys. So, I hope you guys appreciate the fact that I'm literally risking having my car towed away right now to be here showing you guys this. So, the least you guys could do is hit the like button and maybe support the channel with a comment perhaps because like come on y'all.
Like, I'm literally risking having my vehicle towed right now just to get you guys this video.
Look at how disgusting this is, guys.
How bad things have gotten in Florida.
This is disgusting. This is unacceptable. So, now what's happening is a lot of people that are from St. Petersburg are living in places like Pomemetto, you know, Parish all over there in Manatee County.
A lot of people from St. Pete now commute from Manatee County, places like Parish, Palmetto. The cost of living in St. Petersburg just it's impossible.
Like, how does somebody even pay that kind of money? And that's why like now they're building so much in Manatee County and a lot of people that are moving there are people from St. because this is completely unaffordable. It's just ridiculous. I can understand somebody wanting to pay that kind of money to live in downtown St. Petersburg, but I think this far out, this doesn't make a lot of sense. But that is the realistic cost of living in the Tampa Bay area. And I guess really the worst part is the reviews that this place has. It's like if you're going to pay that kind of money, you would think that the staff would be friendly, that they'd be pretty straightforward, but not at all the case. So, most of the food here in St. Pete is so hipster, but then there's this place. It looks authentic. Let's check it out. Cuz one thing that I don't like about St. Pete is how all the food is very hipster. So, this place looks authentic. Hopefully, it doesn't let us down.
And despite that, they're still building more apartments here.
Really, the only option that people have if they want affordability in the St. Petersburg area is to go over Uberdrive.
Clearly, housing affordability is a huge problem here in the St. Petersburg area.
When it comes to the city of St. Petersburg, nothing is affordable. If you want affordability, you have to leave the city of St. Petersburg and look at areas like Palmetto and Parish.
There really isn't anything affordable in St. Petersburg. If you're looking for affordability in St. Petersburg, you have to move into other areas because as far as St. Petersburg itself goes, there's nothing affordable here.
This is an apartment complex where I just brought a Uber passenger to. This is the reserve at Lake Point, and you can get a one-bedroom studio here for around $1,100.
You can also get a twobedroom for $1,400. Now, that sounds extraordinarily affordable considering the prices we've gone through today. This is at the extreme southern tip of St. Petersburg.
So, why would these apartments be so affordable?
Well, where do we even start? So, on Google Maps, one person has left a review saying that recently somebody was murdered here. Now, while driving in, somebody in a bicycle was driving right in front of me. And um if you just spend enough time here like I have tonight um you'll notice that there's people driving around in bicycles walking around, jumping through the gates. It looks like this is a complete trap spot.
And with somebody being murdered here, that's just give you an idea of the type of apartment complex this is. They're rated 3.1 on Google reviews. And among those reviews are reviews for things like rodents. They have photos of stuff in their house being destroyed by rodents. One person says they can't even keep food in their house because if there's food in the house, the rodents find it. So, yes, apartments like this can be as low as $1,100 a month for a onebedroom and 1,400 for a twobedroom. But like somebody said, as of recently, somebody was murdered in this apartment complex. And I can tell you just driving in here today, it definitely looks like the type of place that would have illegal activities. And uh there is a security person, but he's just in there watching TV or something.
He told me, "Don't even worry about it."
He said, "Just drive on through." That car uh very aggressive. Wow. Okay, guys.
So, this is the Enclave at Sable Point.
That car right there literally almost ran me off the road. Very aggressive.
Not sure why uh why drive like that, but that was definitely unnecessary right there, dude.
The Enclave at Sable Point, and it is rated 2.9 on Google Maps.
They have a one-bedroom apartment listed at around $1,100, and they do not include prices for the two bedrooms.
Now, it is now around midnight and the amount of cars that are coming in and out of this complex is insane. It's not gated. And like I said at the start of the video, when I drove in, that car nearly ran me off the road. And I wasn't driving slow. It's just for some reason that person was angry. Driving through here, I can literally smell the substances burning. These are the absolute most hood places in all of St. Pete.
The residents that live here post pictures of absolutely deplorable conditions. We're talking stuff inside the houses that's rotting. We're talking overflowing garbage cans. The reviews from people that live here are kind of concerning >> and the smell of illegal substances burning everywhere. Like literally, I'm in my car and I can smell the herb burning. So, needless to say, this is definitely one of the roughest places in St. Pete. Like I said, they have larger apartments, but they don't have those prices listed.
I can tell you that I've been in a lot of places in the United States, and I know a bad place when I see one, and this place feels dangerous. It does not feel safe. It just has a bad vibe. But if you need to live in St. compete and your budget is $11 to $1,200 a month for onebedroom, there aren't too many options, and this is one of them. I don't even know how you get a 2.9 on Google reviews. I mean, the residents here must be completely fed up with whatever they're dealing with if the ratings are that low. I mean, for an apartment complex this big to be that badly rated, should just give you an idea the type of crapery that's going on here. If I had to take a guess, trapping, fights, probably shootings, all that good stuff. You don't get a rating that bad by accident. Pictures show overflowing garbage cans and apartments with absolutely horrible maintenance conditions.
So, we started off the day looking at the most expensive places in St. Pete, and now we are seeing what the worst places in St. Pete can look like. These apartments here, as you're driving by, you can smell the cockroaches and you can feel the bad vibes off of people.
Even the way they drive is aggressive.
It just has a bad vibe. And I can inside the car smell cockroaches. And I can also smell roach spray. So pest must be a huge problem for people living here.
This is what $1,100 a month gets you in St. Petersburg, Florida in what is clearly one of the worst rated apartment complexes in the city. You guys had the opportunity to see this late at night.
And let me just remind you guys, it's one thing to drive through here, and it's another thing to be picking up people here at midnight and seeing the specimens that are coming in and out of these apartment complexes.
This is Osprey Point, rated 3.2 on Google Maps. this apartment complex. A one-bedroom also goes for around 1,100 and a twobedroom goes for around 1,300.
Real talk, man. $1,100 a month. Plenty of apartments in that price range.
But of course, when you have a lot of lowincome people all in one place, you already know how that usually turns out.
Guys, look at this staircase. The sprinkler's broken and it just it's made like a puddle over the staircase. If you look at that staircase there, look at that. That's a huge freaking liability, bro. Look at that staircase. The whole thing, see how the whole thing is wet right there? Like it's just so there's a bunch of broken sprinklers everywhere.
And that broken sprinkler right there, you can see the staircase is like a waterfall, buddy. And here, just like in the other sheep apartment complexes, the smell of herb is constant. In this particular community, many people complain of nonstop rat infestation. So, it seems like in this price range, just about all the apartments you're going to find are going to have a serious rat infestation problem.
But we're not just going to show you the nice high-end apartments in the city on today's video. We're also going to show you some of the apartment complexes in St. Pete that have the absolute worst reputation. All right, guys. So, that right there is Interstate 75 because St. Petersburg has got so expensive and the sheep options are so bad here in Manatee County. This is where Interstate 75 meets 275.
These apartments here are brand new.
And this is where many people from St. Petersburg are moving to. New apartments here in Manatee County where they can get a onebedroom, one bath apartment for $15 to $1,600 a month. But the issue is that these apartments here are new and they're safe and they're clean and they're somewhat affordable compared to what you get in St. Pete and they're not dangerous. And this is what many people in St. Peter are doing to get out of the expensive real estate market.
