What Locals See That Tourists Miss

[00:00:00]Whenever I come back to visit my uncle, all the neighbors come out.

[00:00:03]They offer me alcohol, they offer me cigarettes, they offer me dinner and food, and that's the sort of culture it is here, the real culture, not the one you see on socials, not the not the propaganda that we're all taught to believe. You have to really go out there and experience what it's like. China is a culture where we we genuinely look out for each other and and the old, as long as those of us who have grown up in a traditional culture.

[00:00:29]So, this is my uncle. He's been in the same wood for the better half of the last 30 years.

[00:00:37]And his neighbors just look out for him, and you know, he lives a simple life.

[00:00:43]But, that's life. You live and you rely on your neighbors, and you guys all enjoy life together, no matter how simple it is, and sometimes you don't need much.

[00:00:52]The government looks after my uncle, pays him a disability pension, and, you know, he spends his days at home trying to figure out ways to make money by trading online. So, you can see, the neighbors all have dinner together.

[00:01:04]And, um, it's a very, very communal thing. They just offered me alcohol, and that burns. So, yeah, Chinese baijiu is insane, and that's how much they drink. See that whole cup?

[00:01:17]They'll have a full one of those every single time they have a meal.

[00:01:21]That's the simple life, you know? Every day goes by, 24 hours, just like everyone else.
