When the actual temperature is around 97°F with high humidity, the 'feels like' temperature can reach 107°F, creating dangerous conditions where the body's cooling mechanism (sweat evaporation) slows down, requiring individuals to drink water every 20 minutes, reduce strenuous activity, wear light loose clothing, and seek shade and air conditioning to prevent heat exhaustion.

Meteorologist Michelle McCormick has your Saturday forecast
Added:All right, 77° right now. It's 77 in St. Augustine, it's 80 in Mayport, 79 in Orange Park. So, very low high low minimums, right?
If the lows should be in the like mid-70s, so we're definitely on the warm side of the low. But, the feels like temperatures throughout the day are really going to be what is the factor here. So, we're looking at feels like temperatures in the 100° to 107° range.
So, the high temperature of the day, let's say it's 97° where you are, add 10° to that and that's the feels like temperature. And that's by 12:30. This is by 3:15. We're still feeling that over 100° temperature even out at the beaches. So, sea breeze really you'll feel it, but it's not going to really make a difference in how that feels like temperature is on your skin. So, very dangerous conditions. You definitely want to listen to your body cuz we're going to have these going into tomorrow as well. Staying just below the heat advisory threshold. Now, there are heat advisories around us. Heat advisory threshold starts around 108° that feels like. So, what does that mean? Well, high humidity factor in with the heat, our body starts to slow down the evaporation of the sweat. So, you're you don't sweat when you're starting to feel like you're in a heat stroke even in a heat environment that you need to go seek definite shade and AC. So, here's some heat exhaustion safety tips. Drink water. You want to stay hydrated, of course. Reduce the strenuous activity.
Wear your light loose-fitting clothing, of course, and find that shade and that AC. And of course, if you do have to work throughout the day with the heat, you want to make sure you're drinking water every 20 minutes regardless of whether you feel it or not. So, the radar's going to shape up like this throughout the day. We're going to have pop-up showers. Once those sea breezes start to converge, by 2:15 we could have a little more opportunity for numerous showers than we've seen over the past several days. By 7:00 tonight, some lingering shower activity. So, maybe in some areas we'll have some heavy downpours at times, but otherwise some folks might not even see any rain at all looking for that high around 95, 96° by 3:00 this afternoon. And then low 90s and then again another warm morning as we go into your Sunday. And then we're a week out from [music] summer and of course we're going to have some pops of sunshine throughout the day. And then the chances of rain are every day in ten and that 90° weather also sticks around with us throughout the entire week.
Wednesday we get a bit of a break, but otherwise we're going to have that 90° weather with that feels like between 95 and 105 at least at the beginning of the week. This weekend we're close to 107 is what it feels like out there. Well, it's going to be a hot one. So, just listen to your body and take care.
