I was talking to a friend about all the recent conversations happening around extraterrestrial life, and my mindset was basically that it'll probably never happen, and if it does, I'll just run for cover. But then he told me about a conversation he had with someone else whose response was, "We all serve the same God, so all is well." And his response was basically, "Or maybe we should actually be mentally prepared to learn something."

[00:00:32]That stuck with me. I walked away from that conversation feeling way less afraid and way more curious. There's actually a phrase for that feeling, ontological shock. It's what happens when new information completely changes the way you understand reality.
