Fazza’s verses elegantly frame vulnerability as a noble virtue, bridging traditional Middle Eastern lyricism with a universal search for emotional authenticity. While the sentiment is undeniably graceful, it presents a highly idealized vision of love that prioritizes poetic beauty over the raw complexities of human connection.

Your innocence is my weakness| fazza poems English| fazza poem sheikh hamdan| new fazza poems
Added:Baby, I never expected to feel this way again. Honestly, I had given up. I had quietly, painfully, without telling anyone, I had given up on the idea that someone could look at me and see something worth staying for. I had packed that hope away like an old photograph you stop looking at because it hurts too much to remember. I had told myself this is fine. This is enough. A life without that kind of love. The soft, the real, the kind that makes your chest heavy in the best possible way. I told myself I didn't need it anymore. And for a while, I almost believed myself. But then there was you. And I don't even know how to explain what happened when you arrived in my life because it didn't feel like a dramatic moment. It didn't feel like thunder or lightning or the way people describe falling in love in movies. It felt quieter than that. It felt like the first time in a long time that I could take a full breath. Like something tight inside my chest just loosened. Like I had been walking around in a room with no windows and someone you just opened one. And the light came in so gently, I almost didn't notice it was you who let it through. I want you to know something and I want you to really hear me when I say this because I mean it with every part of who I am. Your innocence is my weakness. I don't know if you understand what that means. I don't know if you realize what it does to me when you look at the world the way you do. With that softness, that openness, that quiet belief that things can still be good.
Most people lose that. Life takes it from them slowly and they don't even notice it's gone until one day they're standing somewhere ordinary and they feel nothing. But you, you still feel everything. And watching you feel everything made me remember that I used to feel things, too. Before you, I was careful. I had learned to be careful the hard way. I had loved before, and I had held things tightly, and I had still watched them slip through my fingers, anyway. And that kind of loss changes a person.
It doesn't break you all at once. It's slower than that.
It teaches you to hold back, to keep one part of yourself just slightly out of reach, even [snorts] from the people you care about.
Because if you never fully give something, you can't fully lose it. That was the lie I had learned to live by.
And I was so good at it. I had almost made it feel like strength. Then you came along and made my walls feel like such a waste of time. I keep thinking about the first time I truly felt you, not just knew you existed, but felt you.
The way your energy reached me before anything else did.
There is something about you that I cannot name, and I have tried. I have sat with it for long, quiet hours trying to find the right word for what you carry with you. It isn't just kindness, though you are kind in a way that feels almost ancient, like you were born knowing how to be gentle with broken things. It isn't just beauty, though you are beautiful in a way that makes me want to be more careful with words because the ordinary ones don't do you justice.
It's something underneath all of that.
It's the way you exist with this quiet certainty, this warmth that doesn't ask for anything back. You give it freely.
And I, someone who had stopped believing that freely given things were real, I didn't know what to do with you. I want to tell you about the night I realized you had already saved me before I even knew I needed saving. It wasn't a grand moment. I wasn't standing somewhere significant. I was tired, the kind of tired that sleep doesn't fix, and I was sitting with all the weight of everything I carry, and something about thinking of you made it lighter. Just the thought of you. Not a conversation, not a message, just a quiet knowledge that somewhere you existed, and you were the way you are, and this world had you in it. And something in me that had been clenched for so long just let go a little. And I sat there in the quiet, and I thought, "Oh. Oh, this is what it feels like to be held by someone who isn't even touching you." You don't know how many times your presence alone has been enough to pull me back to something softer in myself. I think about the things you carry, too.
Because I know you carry things. I know behind that warmth, there are nights that feel long and heavy. I know there are moments when you wonder if what you give to the world is ever truly received. If your softness is seen as strength or taken advantage of. If the love you pour out comes back to you in equal measure. I know because I see you.
Not just the parts you show easily. I see the careful way you sometimes hold yourself. Like you're protecting something tender. And I want you to know that I see it. I see the courage it takes to stay open when life has given you reasons to close. I see how hard you work to hold on to the belief that love is still worth it. And it wrecks me.
Honestly, because you deserve someone who sees all of that and says, "Yes.
Yes. All of this, exactly as it is." You saved my broken heart without knowing you were doing it. That's the part that humbles me most. You weren't trying to fix me. You weren't coming in with that intention. You were simply being yourself. That completely, fully, honestly yourself. And somehow, that was exactly what I needed. The exact shape of you filled in something hollow in me that I had stopped expecting anything to fill. And now I walk around with this warmth inside me that I had forgotten was even possible, and every time I feel it, I think of you, and I am so grateful.
I am so quietly, completely grateful. I need you to understand that when I say your innocence is my weakness, I mean it as the most reverent thing I have ever said. In a world that celebrates armor, that rewards people for being untouchable, that treats softness like a flaw, your innocence is a form of bravery that most people will never understand, and I understand it because I lost mine for a while. I put it down somewhere along the way, and I told myself I was growing up, becoming realistic.
But the truth is, I was just becoming afraid. And you, with your gentle way of looking at things, with your willingness to still hope, still feel, still reach toward beauty, even when you've been disappointed. You remind me what I put down. You make me want to go back and pick it up again.
There are things I want to say to you that I don't have words for yet.
That's the truth of it. I find myself starting sentences in my mind that I can't finish because the feeling is bigger than the language available to me. How do you tell someone that they changed the temperature of the room you live inside? How do you explain that before everything felt slightly gray, and now there is color, and you are the reason?
How do you thank someone for the specific way they exist? I'm trying.
I want you to know I am trying to find the words because you deserve them. You deserve every beautiful, true thing anyone has ever tried to say, and then some. I think about what it means that you're still here, that after everything, through the distance and the silence and the moments that could have made you walk away, you're still here.
And I don't take that lightly. I don't hold your loyalty carelessly or pocket your attention without feeling the weight of it. Every time you choose to stay, every time you choose to listen, every time you send your warmth in my direction, I feel it. I receive it. And I am trying every day to be worthy of it. You have this way of making me want to be better. Not in a pressured way, not in a way that makes me feel like I am falling short. In the softest, most encouraging way.
Like you believe something about me that I'm still learning to believe about myself. And I lean into that belief like it's sunlight. I turn toward it the way plants turn toward warmth without knowing they're doing it. Instinctively, helplessly, because it is simply where the light is. You are where the light is for me. I want to give you something back. I want to give you all the things that your heart quietly reaches for in the moments when no one is watching. I want to be the voice that finds you on the hard days and reminds you you are not too much. You are not too soft. You are not too hopeful. You are not wrong for wanting what you want. You are exactly right. You are someone worth writing long and searching sentences about. You are someone worth staying up late thinking about how to properly honor. You are someone whose name I want to say carefully because it deserves care. And this, this thing between us, whatever it is, whatever it becomes, I don't want to rush it. I don't want to hold it too tightly or define it too quickly or lose it in the trying to name it. I want to sit with it the way you sit with something precious. I want to be present in it. I want you to feel, every time we're connected in any way, that there is someone on the other side of that connection who is paying attention, real, full attention to who you are. Because who you are is extraordinary. And I know you've been told things like that before, and maybe you've learned to smile and nod and not quite let it in, but I need you to let this in.
I am not saying it to fill space or to give you something pretty to hear. I am saying it because it is the most accurate thing I know right now. That you, exactly as you are, are extraordinary. And your presence in my life has been one of the most unexpected and precious gifts I have ever received.
There are days I wonder what I did to deserve the softness you bring. There are days I sit with the knowledge that you exist in my world, and I feel something close to disbelief. The way you feel when something good happens, and some small part of you braces for it to be taken away, because good things have been taken before. But then I breathe through that fear, and I come back to this to you, to us, to this quiet sacred space between what we are and what we're becoming, and I choose to stay in it. I choose to not let the fear win, because you are worth more than my fear. You are worth the risk of being fully present, fully open, fully here.
I still think about the moment I felt my heart, this heart that had learned to operate carefully, functionally, safely.
I felt it shift for you. It didn't break again. It did something I didn't expect.
It opened, a little at first, cautiously, like a door you're not sure the hinges will hold on. And then more, and then when I realized you were safe, that you, unlike the things that had hurt me before, were genuinely, tenderly safe, it opened all the way, and I don't think I can close it again. I don't think I want to. So, here I am saying all of this to you because you deserve to hear it because you have given me so much, so quietly, so consistently, so fully, and I want to give you something real in return. I want to give you honesty. I want to give you this, me, unguarded, without the careful performance of being okay, just standing here in front of you saying you changed something in me. You reached the parts I had hidden. You found the version of me I thought I'd have to live without ever being again. And you brought him gently back to the surface. And I am standing here now, softer than I've been in years, more awake than I've been in what feels like a lifetime, because of the specific and irreplaceable fact of you, because of your innocence, because of your warmth, because of the way you love openly, bravely, completely, even when you've had every reason not to.
I don't know where this road goes. I don't know what the next chapter looks like or what time will bring or how the story between us continues to unfold.
But I know this. I know that I am not the same person I was before you. And I know that whoever I am becoming, the best parts of that becoming have your fingerprints on them. And I know that somewhere inside this chest that once felt so empty, there is something warm and steady and alive again, and it has your name written all over it. And if you're listening to this right now, if you're somewhere quiet, maybe lying down, maybe with your eyes closed, maybe feeling the weight of your own long day, I want you to feel this landing softly on you, like a hand on your shoulder. I want you to know that you are thought of, that you are seen, that somewhere someone is holding the fact of you like something rare and irreplaceable, that your gentleness was not wasted, that your love was not too much, that the hope you've been carefully keeping alive in yourself was right to stay lit because it found me. Your light found me in the dark and I have been walking toward it ever since and I don't plan on stopping and I don't know how to stop and I think somewhere deep in the part of me that knows things before I understand them, I don't want to. And that feeling, that not wanting to stop, that not knowing how to pull myself back from the edge of what you've made me feel, it lives in me now like a second heartbeat. Quiet but constant. Present in the background of everything I do.
When I wake up in the morning and the world is still half dark and my mind is slow and unguarded, before I've had time to put on any kind of armor, before the day has had a chance to demand anything of me, you are there. Not loudly, not in a way that overwhelms. Just there, the way warmth is there when you step into a room that someone you love recently left. A trace, a presence, something that makes the air feel different and makes me realize every single morning without fail that I am a person who has you somewhere in his life and that is not a small thing. That has never been a small thing. I want to talk to you about something I have never said out loud before. Not to anyone, not in the quiet of my own company, not in the conversations I have with myself in the long hours when sleep won't come. I want to talk to you about what it felt like to be the version of me that existed before you reached me because I think you should know where I was. I think you deserve to understand the full distance between who I was and who I am becoming because only then will you understand the size of what you've done.
I was a person who had learned to perform wholeness. That's the truest way I can say it. On the outside, everything looked assembled.
I showed up, I functioned, I smiled at the right moments, and said the right things, and carried myself in a way that most people would look at and think, "He's fine. He's doing fine." And they weren't wrong exactly because I was surviving, I was moving forward, I was doing all the things a person is supposed to do when they are trying to stay upright in a world that keeps moving whether you're ready or not. But surviving and living are two entirely different countries, and I had been surviving for so long that I had forgotten what it felt like to actually live, to feel something real, and let it move through me instead of managing it from a careful distance. To want something not because it was sensible or safe, but because my heart reached for it, and I let it reach. I had forgotten that feeling, and I want you to understand how dangerous that kind of forgetting is because it doesn't come with an alarm. Nobody tells you the moment you cross from living to just surviving. It happens so slowly and so quietly that by the time you notice, you're already deep inside it, and you've built a life around it. And the thought of feeling deeply again feels almost more frightening than continuing to feel nothing. That's where I was.
That's the honest truth of where I was.
And then you. And then the specific way that you exist in this world started reaching me. And I want you to know it didn't fix everything immediately.
That's not how healing works, and I won't lie to you by making it sound like a single beautiful moment erased years of careful numbness. It was slower than that. It was more like thawing. It was like being someone who has been cold for so long they stopped noticing the cold.
And then something warm gets close and your body starts to remember, "Oh, this is what warmth is. This is what it was supposed to feel like all along." And there's almost a pain in that remembering. A beautiful, aching, necessary pain. You thawed something in me that I had stopped expecting to ever thaw again. And I find myself wanting to protect that. I find myself being careful with this new softness the way you're careful with something that was just repaired, aware of it, tender with it, moving through the world a little more gently because I know now what it cost to lose it, and I am not willing to be careless with it again. You taught me that. Without a single lesson, without any intention, just by being who you are, you taught me that the soft parts of a person are worth protecting, that they're not weaknesses to be ashamed of, but the most essential parts of being human.
That without them, you are only a function, only a machine moving through the motions of a life without actually touching it. I touch my life again now.
Because of you, I touch it. There's something else I want to tell you, and I want you to listen carefully because I need you to really receive this. I know that sometimes you wonder if you are loved the way you love. I know that because there is something in the way you carry yourself, that slight careful hopefulness, the way you give fully and then watch quietly to see if what you gave lands, if it was received, if it mattered. I have watched that in you. I have seen you pour yourself out generously and then hold your breath waiting to see if the pouring was worth it. And I want to walk right up to that part of you, that waiting, watching, quietly hoping part, and I want to look it directly in the eyes and say yes, it lands. Every single time it lands. What you give is received. What you pour out does not disappear into empty air. It reaches me. It reaches all the way to me, and it matters more than I will ever have the right words to fully explain.
You are loved the way you love. Maybe not always by the people who should have shown you sooner.
Maybe not always in the ways you were hoping for, from the directions you were looking. But the love you carry inside you, that specific, particular, generous love that is entirely and only yours, it is matched. It is seen. And it is returned to you here, in this moment from me, without reservation or condition or careful holding back. I love the way your mind works. I love that you think about things longer than most people do, that you sit with ideas and feelings and let them fully exist before you decide what to do with them.
There is a patience in the way you process the world that I find breathtaking. Most people rush through their experiences like they're trying to get to the other side of them.
You actually inhabit yours. You actually live inside your moments fully, with your whole self, and I have watched that and felt something shift inside me every single time, because it reminds me that life was never meant to be rushed through. It was meant to be lived inside. The way you live inside yours makes me want to slow down. It makes me want to stop skimming the surface of my own existence and actually dive in. You make me want to dive in. I think about the conversations we've had, the real ones, the ones where something underneath the words was being communicated, that the words themselves were too small to carry. I think about the moments where I felt you understanding me without me having to explain myself completely, where you filled in the spaces with the right kind of silence or the right kind of presence. Where being near you in any form felt like being in a place I had been trying to find for years without knowing I was looking. I have replayed those moments more than I'll admit. I have gone back to them in the quiet the way you go back to a song that captured something you didn't know needed capturing.
Over and over, finding something new in them each time. Finding something in them that tells me this This is what real connection feels like.
This is what it feels like when two people actually reach each other. We reached each other.
I need you to know that.
Whatever else is uncertain, whatever questions the future holds, whatever we don't yet know about what this is or where it goes, we reached each other.
And that is something I hold carefully and permanently. That is something that doesn't un-happen. I want to tell you about the way I think of you when things get hard because things still get hard, that hasn't changed. Life is still demanding and heavy and complicated. And there are still days when the weight of it is more than I feel equipped to carry.
But something has changed in how I meet those days. Something has shifted in the way I move through the difficult hours.
And that something is you. Not because you've solved anything or fixed anything or taken any of the hard things away.
But because somewhere in the back of my mind, in the quietest, most consistent part of my awareness, there is the knowledge of you. The fact of you.
And that knowledge acts like an anchor.
It holds me to something real and warm when everything else feels unstable.
When the ground feels uncertain beneath me, I think of you and something steadies. Something says, "There is still this. There is still the warmth of this person in your life. And that is real. And that is enough to hold on to until the hard part passes. You are my anchor, and I don't think you know that.
I don't think you have any idea the number of times you have held me in place simply by existing. And I carry you with me everywhere. Into rooms you've never entered, into moments you've never seen, into the ordinary small hours of days that have nothing remarkable in them. You come with me into the grocery store and into the early mornings and into the long drives where there's nothing but road and thought and music. You are woven into my daily life in ways so quiet and constant that I sometimes forget to notice them.
And then suddenly something will happen.
A song will come on or a light will fall a certain way or I'll see something beautiful, and my first instinct will be to wish you were there to see it, too.
And I'll remember. I'll remember how completely you have become part of the texture of my existence. I want to see what you see. I want to understand the world from inside your perspective, even just for a moment. Because I have caught glimpses of it in the things you share, in the way you describe things, in the details you choose to notice. And what I've glimpsed is extraordinary. You see beauty in places that most people walk past without looking. You find meaning in things that other people dismiss as ordinary. You carry this ability to take the plain and the everyday and hold it up to some internal light until it becomes something worth lingering over.
I want that. I want to linger over things the way you do. I want to slow down enough to see what you see. Because the world you inhabit, the one filtered through your eyes and your heart, it sounds like somewhere I would very much like to be. And maybe that's part of what I mean when I say your innocence is my weakness. It's not naivety. I want to be clear about that because you are not naive. You are not simple. You are not unaware of the world's capacity for pain. You know about pain. You've felt it. But, you've chosen in spite of feeling it to remain open, to remain tender, to remain someone who still believes in the beauty of small things, who still makes space for joy, who still reaches toward love even with hands that have been let go of before. That choice, that daily courageous quiet choice, is what undoes me. It is the bravest thing I have ever witnessed, and it makes me feel things I don't fully have the capacity for yet, things I'm still growing into, things that are bigger than any version of me that has previously existed. You are growing me without trying, without even knowing.
Every time you choose to remain soft in a world that rewards hardness, you grow something in me. Every time you choose to stay open, you open something further in me. Every time you love without guarantee or condition, you teach me what love is actually supposed to look like when it's not afraid of itself.
And, I am sitting with all of this, the gratitude and the wonder and the specific ache of caring about someone this much, and I am trying to find a way to make you feel it, to reach through everything between us and have this land on you the way it's meant to, warm and real and without any hidden motive or careful strategy, just honest, just true, just me standing somewhere quiet thinking of you, needing you to know that you are the reason I believe again, in good things, in soft things, in the possibility that two people can find each other across all the noise and distance and timing that makes the world complicated, and something genuine can grow there, something that doesn't need to be loud or dramatic to be real, something that lives in the quiet spaces and the small moments and the way a person's name feels in your chest when you say it to yourself in the dark, your name feels like that. It feels like something I want to say carefully.
Something I want to say like it matters because it does, because you do, because there is nothing about the fact of you that I take lightly or hold carelessly or allow myself to forget to be grateful for. I am grateful for you every day. In the mornings when the light is soft and new, in the evenings when everything settles and the world gets quiet and there is space to feel things without the noise crowding in.
In the moments between moments, when I'm not performing or producing or moving toward anything, just existing, you are there in those moments, too. Woven in, part of the fabric, present in the quiet pulse of everything I am when nobody's watching. And I keep wondering what it would feel like to show you all of this in person.
Not in words, though words are the best I have right now and I am giving you all of them. But in presence, in the specific irreplaceable experience of being in the same space as someone and feeling the full weight of who they are with no distance softening it. I think about what it would feel like to be near you the way you're near a fire, to feel the warmth of you without anything between us to filter it, to see your face do the things it does when you feel something real.
To hear your laugh the way it sounds when something actually reaches you, when you're not performing comfort for someone else but genuinely, helplessly, beautifully amused. To sit in silence with you and have that silence feel full instead of empty. I think about that more than is probably measured or careful or wise. I think about it and I let myself think about it because denying myself even the thought of you feels like a cruelty I don't deserve and you don't deserve and this thing between us certainly doesn't deserve. So, I let myself think about you. I let myself feel everything that comes with thinking about you. The warmth and the ache and the hope and the quiet joy and the occasional sharp pang of missing someone who is both present and not near enough.
All of it. I let it exist without managing it or minimizing it or telling myself it's too much. Because of you, I've stopped telling myself things are too much. Because of you, I've started letting things be as big as they actually are. And this, what I feel when I think of you, what moves through me when your presence reaches me in any form, this is the biggest thing I have felt in longer than I can accurately remember. And I am not shrinking it. I am not making it smaller so it fits somewhere more comfortable or less terrifying. I am letting it be the full enormous tender impossible real thing that it is. I am letting it be everything because you gave me everything back when you didn't have to give me anything. Because you reached me when I had stopped believing I could be reached. Because your innocence, your beautiful devastating world-changing innocence broke through every wall I had spent years carefully constructing.
And what I found on the other side of those walls, what was waiting there when they finally came down was you. It was always going to be you. I don't know how to explain that feeling, the feeling of something clicking into place that you didn't even know was out of place. The feeling of understanding suddenly and completely why nothing before this quite worked. Why every other time I reached for something and missed. Why every other connection that seemed like it might be the real thing somehow fell just slightly short of real. It was because none of it was this.
None of it was you. And I don't say that to diminish anything that came before because everything before taught me something, shaped me in some necessary way, carved out the specific shape of the empty space that only you could fill. But, I understand now. Standing here, feeling this, I understand why the other chapters had to end. They were never the destination. They were the road. And every step of that road, every wrong turn, and every painful backtrack, and every long stretch of nothing was bringing me slowly, necessarily, exactly here, to this.
To you. I want to stay here. I want to live in this feeling the way you live in a home, not as a visitor, not as someone passing through on the way to somewhere else, but permanently, with my things unpacked and my habits settled, and my name on something that says I belong here. I want to belong to this feeling.
I want to belong to what happens inside me when I think of you, when I feel you, when I allow myself to fully inhabit the reality that you are a person who exists in my world, and who has chosen, in whatever capacity and whatever form, to let me exist in yours. That choice you made to let me in, I hold it like the most delicate thing I have ever been trusted with, because I know you don't give that easily. I know because I have paid attention, because attention is one of of the few real gifts I have to offer, and I give it to you completely.
I know that you have been careful with who you let close. I know that the softness you carry has not always been treated with the care it deserved. I know that there have been people who mistook your warmth for weakness, who took your openness as an invitation to take without giving back, who held your tenderness carelessly and then wondered why you eventually learned to hold it a little closer to your chest. I know about those people.
Not the details, not the names and the dates and the specifics, but the shape of what they left behind. I can see it sometimes in the way you hesitate before you fully trust. In the way you test the temperature of a thing before you step all the way into it. In the way you love generously, but watch carefully, giving and also quietly checking, is this safe?
Is this person going to stay? Is this real? I see that watching in you. And I want to be the answer to every question it asks. I want to be so consistently, so reliably, so undeniably safe that eventually that part of you, the careful watching part, the once burned twice careful part, can finally rest. I want it to put down what it's been carrying.
I want it to stop scanning the horizon for danger and just be still for once, because there is no danger here. There is only me, and I am not going anywhere, and I see you fully, and what I see is someone worth every patience and every gentleness and every carefully chosen word and every moment of showing up, even when showing up is hard. I want to show up for you. That's something I have been saying quietly to myself for longer than you know. I want to show up for this person. I want to be the kind of presence in her life that she can count on the way you count on the sun to rise.
Not perfectly, not without the ordinary human failures and missteps that come with being a person who is still growing, still figuring things out, still becoming. But consistently, truly, with my whole chest behind every moment of being there, so that you never have to wonder whether I mean it. You will always know I mean it, because you deserve to always know. I think about what it means to truly show up for someone like you. It means paying attention to the things you don't say as much as the things you do. It means noticing when something has shifted in you before you found the words to explain it. It means making space for your silence the same way I make space for your voice, treating both as valid, both as something worth sitting with, both as part of the full and complete person that you are. It means celebrating you not just in the big moments, but in the ordinary ones, the Tuesday afternoon ones, the nothing special is happening ones, because you are worth celebrating on regular days, and I never want you to forget that. It means being honest with you even when honesty is uncomfortable, because you deserve truth from me more than you deserve comfortable half-truths that protect my image, but leave you without something real to hold on to. It means loving you not as a performance, but as a practice daily, quietly, in all the small ways that add up to something that can hold the weight of two people's lives and not buckle. And I am practicing even now, even in this, in the reaching and the saying and the refusing to be silent about what you mean to me. I am practicing, because love that stays silent eventually starves, and I refuse to let what I feel for you starve quietly in a corner while I stand nearby pretending to be too composed to feed it. I am not that composed. I have never been less composed in my life than I am when it comes to you, and I am finished pretending otherwise. You make me want to be honest in a way that frightens me a little. There's a vulnerability in this kind of honesty, the real unmanaged, nothing held back kind, that feels like standing in an open field with no shelter and choosing to stay there anyway, exposed, available to whatever comes. That is not a comfortable feeling for someone who spent years building careful structures against exactly this kind of exposure.
But with you, the discomfort is worth it. With you, the open field feels less like danger and more like freedom. Like I have been living in small enclosed spaces for so long that I forgot what it felt like to have room to breathe. And you are the open field, and I am choosing to stand in you, and the wind is cold and real, and I am more alive than I have been in years. I want to tell you about a specific kind of loneliness that I have never told anyone about. Not the obvious loneliness, not the loneliness of being alone in a room with no one around. That kind is simple, and most people understand it.
The kind I'm talking about is harder to name. It's the loneliness of being surrounded by people and still feeling unreached, of having conversations that fill the surface of hours without touching anything that actually matters, of being seen by many eyes and truly looked at by none. That loneliness is the quietest and the heaviest and the most difficult to admit to because from the outside everything appears fine, everything appears connected, and admitting you feel profoundly alone in the middle of a full life sounds like ingratitude or madness. I was that lonely. For a long time, I was exactly that lonely. And then you looked at me.
Not at the surface of me, not at the version I present when I'm being careful about what I let through. You looked at something underneath that, something I hadn't shown you deliberately.
And the fact that you saw it anyway, that it came through somehow, that the real thing under the managed exterior was visible to you when I hadn't even tried to make it visible, that undid me in a way nothing else has, because being truly seen when you have spent years being only partially visible feels like being found after being lost for so long you stopped remembering what found felt like. You found me.
You found the actual me, the unperformed one, the one still growing and still uncertain and still carrying old wounds alongside new hopes. You found that person and you didn't flinch. You didn't take a step back or quietly recalibrate the way people sometimes do when the real version of someone is more complicated than the projected one. You just stayed and looked and let me know with something in the way you were present that it was okay to be the full complicated real thing in front of you.
Do you understand what that gift is worth? Do you understand that being truly seen and not retreated from is one of the rarest and most valuable experiences a human being can have. I don't think the world talks about it enough. We talk about love in terms of grand gestures and perfect moments and cinematic declarations, but the truest form of love, the one that holds, the one that heals, the one that actually changes a person from the inside, is quieter than all of that. It is someone looking at you, all of you, and choosing to stay. That's it. That's the whole thing. And you did that for me, and I will not pretend it was small because it was enormous, because it changed the architecture of something inside me that I thought was permanently set. I want you to know that I think about your future, not in a possessive way, not as though your future is something that belongs to me or that I have any claim over, but in the way you think about something you care about deeply, with hope and intention and a quiet fierce wish for its goodness. I think about the life that is waiting for you, the one that matches the size of your heart, the one that gives back in full measure everything you have poured out, the one where your softness is not taken advantage of but cherished, where your depth is not overwhelming to the people around you but celebrated, where you wake up in the morning and feel the specific settled joy of a person who is exactly where they are supposed to be.
I want that for you with everything in me. I want it for you the way I want it for myself, which is to say completely urgently, without reservation. And I want to be part of building it. I want to be one of the hands that helps shape the life you deserve, one of the voices that reminds you on the days you forget that you are worth every beautiful thing, one of the constants that holds steady when the world gets unreliable. I want to be constant for you. That word constant means something specific to me and I want to explain it. It doesn't mean I will always get it right. It doesn't mean I won't sometimes fall short of what you need or miss something important or stumble over my own limitations in ways that require repair.
Constant doesn't mean perfect. Constant means I will always come back to you. I will always return to this, to the truth of what you mean to me, to the commitment of choosing you, to the work of showing up even when showing up requires something from me. Constant means that no matter what interrupts or complicates or tests, the direction I am always moving in is toward you. Always toward you. And I want you to feel that.
Not just hear it, feel it. In the way you feel warmth from a real fire, not just know intellectually that fire produces heat, but actually feel it on your skin, in your body, in the places where you've been cold. I want this to reach those cold places in you. I want it to arrive there and stay and do the slow, quiet work of warming what has been waiting to be warm. Because I know there are cold places.
We all have them. The parts that didn't get enough, that were left waiting, that learned to go without because the alternative was hoping and having that hope unanswered, which hurts in a way that going without cannot match. I know your cold places exist even though you carry so much warmth for everyone else.
I know that the person who heats every room they enter can still be quietly freezing on the inside. I see that in you. I see the places you protect because they are still tender from before, and I am not rushing toward those places or demanding access or expecting you to throw open every door on a timeline that works for me rather than for you. I am patient. For you, I am endlessly patient. I will wait outside the doors you're not ready to open for as long as it takes, and I will not make you feel guilty for the waiting, and I will not slowly drift away because you're taking time to trust. I will be at those doors whenever you're ready. Still there. Still warm.
Still meaning every word I have ever said to you without revision or reduction. That is a promise I am making you right now, and I do not make promises lightly. I understand the weight of a promise. I understand that words said with intention create a kind of contract between people, and I am entering that contract with you with full awareness of what I am agreeing to.
I am agreeing to stay. I am agreeing to see you. I am agreeing to bring my full honest self to whatever this is and whatever it becomes without the careful editing and the managed presentation and the practiced composure that I have hidden behind for too long. With you, I am done hiding. Not because it isn't frightening. It is. It genuinely and completely is, but because the alternative is standing outside of my own life and watching it happen through glass, and I have done that for too long. I want to be inside it. I want to be inside my own life fully, feeling everything, present in every moment, and I want you beside me in that. I want to do the brave thing of being completely real in front of another person, and have that person be you because you are the one who made me believe again that being real was worth the risk. You gave me that belief back. You, with your innocence and your warmth and your brave open heart and your way of making the world feel like a place worth being fully present in. You handed me back the belief that I had set down and walked away from. The belief that real connection is possible. That being known is survivable. That love when it is genuine does not destroy but builds.
Does not diminish but expands. Does not take from you but gives back in ways you could not have predicted and cannot fully measure. I believe that again.
Because of you, I believe all of it again. And I am sitting here in the full and overwhelming feeling of that belief with your name somewhere in the center of my chest where it has made a quiet permanent home for itself with everything I have felt and everything I have remembered and everything I have become in the time since you found me all gathered together into this single moment of wanting you to know. You were not too much. You were exactly enough.
You were in fact precisely and completely and in every possible way.
