Despite cultural narratives suggesting that marriage and parenthood are dead ends, research data indicates that both men and women who embrace marriage and parenthood are the ones most likely to be flourishing, contradicting the claims made by figures like Andrew Tate and writers in publications like the New York Times.

Brad Wilcox: Is Marriage and Parenthood a Dead End? #shortsAdded:
often is kind of focused, especially on the left, towards women um and now focused to some extent on parts of the right, I'm thinking of Andrew Tate, you know, on men, kind of basically telling, you know, young women today on the left, young men today on the right, that the path to living the best possible life is one that steers clear of marriage and family and not towards marriage and family.
>> [snorts] >> Um there is, as I said, a classic piece, you know, in the New York Times for instance, I think it was in 2020 um by a writer in Brooklyn, they're always from Brooklyn, I don't know what it is with Brooklyn, but and she said that sort of married heterosexual, you know, motherhood in America is a game that no one wins, right? So, she's kind of arguing in the New York Times that women who are married moms are basically much more likely to be miserable um than their single and childless peers. Um and then of course, Andrew Tate comes along about the same time and is kind of telling young men from a kind of more right-wing perspective that, you know, marriage is a dead end and that guys should steer clear of marriage and focus on kind of getting strong, making money and using but not marrying the opposite sex. Um and so kind of the takeaway I think for both of these, you know, groups of people is, you know, that um marriage is um not the path, family life is not the path. Um and yet what we see in the data is that today both men and women who embrace marriage and embrace kids, have kids, you know, whatnot are the ones most likely to be flourishing.
