The 6B4T Movement: Decentering Men was Just the BeginningAdded:
The other day, a lot of women tagged me in this Jesse Song video where she's talking about the 6B4T movement. She said the most radical women, the most radical feminists are in um East Asia right now. And she goes on to quickly explain the 6B4T movement. We have talked about the 4B movement. I am not a part of the 4B movement. I am married with children, but I do share the different things that impact women on a day-to-day basis. And even if you can't do all four things, you there are some practical things that you can take on if you so choose. So, let's go over what the 4B movement is and the last two Bs that have been added to it to make it 6Bs. So, the four Bs that we already knew, new, no marriage, no child birth, no dating, no sex. So, we have already gone over what the 4B movement was for a while. So, people should already have those in their back pocket. You already know those. So, number five and six, no beauty, no emotional labor. Number five, it it speaks for itself. Rejecting strict beauty standards and cosmetic consumerism. And then no emotional labor. Rejecting the expectation to provide emotional support or caretaking to men. We have talked about this. We've talked about it in the form of mankeeping and some of the things that women are expected to do simply because we are women. And this goes further than just romantic partners. It's family members. It's at your job is some of these random dudes on the internet that just want to interact with women. These women are saying no to all six of these things. Now, let's get to these T's. And T's in Korea stands for anti or against.
So, we got Talco, escape the corset, rejection of oppressive, time-consuming, and expensive beauty standards, makeup, and restrictive clothing. That goes along with no beauty, the um the fifth B in the 6B movement. And then we have escape religion. This is a big one. This is the thing that we're talking about here too when we're talking about deconstruction because religion is what it says right here enforces these gender roles. Religion oppresses women. So these women are saying rejected escape religion. Boycotting patriarchal institutions and organized religions which which historically enforced strict gender roles. We got ta yong n escape a taku culture a refusal to participate in or consume maledominated subcultures.
And I think that that goes handinhand with tall idol, escape for I from idol and fandom culture, boycotting K-pop idol fandoms, and the hypersexualizing marketing of women in the entertainment industry. I think these two go hand in hand. Stop giving money to these institutions, these organizations, these companies that are just exploiting women or using women, sexualizing women. And a lot of times it's sexualizing little girls based on how they draw women or depict these women. They they kind of depict them in very girlike situations.
So those are the four T's.
So I've already said I'm not part of the 4B movement. And some people might think that the 4B movement, the 6B movement, 6B, 4T might think it's all way too restrictive. But there are some things that you can do in your day-to-day life.
You know, stop dressing for the male gays. All of the things that go along with beauty standards are so expensive.
So, if you're not buying into all of that and you're keeping your money in your pocket, you're helping you're helping yourself and it's allowing capitalism to crumble just a little bit.
Deconstructing from religion. We talk about this all the time. These patriarchal religions need to crumble.
They are upheld by women and they're upheld by women and women are the ones that are oppressed by these patriarchal religions. So you can come out of the church. That is something that you can absolutely do. And you'll be saving your time, your energy, and your money because you spend so much money. And a lot of the times religion, that's where women are the ones that are volunteering and doing all of the things, usher board, um cooking, cleaning, all of this. and they are the ones that are mostly oppressed by the men in these institutions.
We can't stop spending money, but we can focus our dollars. We can focus our money on goods and services with women owners. We can focus spending our um giving more time and energy to women.
Like if you have some extra money and you want to donate to women's causes, women's gofundme, you can do things that way. So these are ways you can support single women. You can support these women that are 4B or 6B. Some of us um some of us are married. Yes, I'm married with the children, but I absolutely support women who choose to opt out. We can all we can all create community with women instead of shacking up with the man because obviously, you know, spreading cost is a thing. You can um you can live with another woman, cohabitate golden girl style, momune style.
other women who have children living together or women just creating community with other women. There are so many different things that we can do as we're trying to um trying to prop up women and allow the patriarchy to crumble. Something else that we can do, and we have talked about this, boundaries at work, stop doing all of the unpaid labor at work, cleaning up the break room and bathroom, um bringing snacks, doing all of these little things like, you know, taking notes, all of the gendered things that are unpaid things.
Stop doing that. Stop being this person that does too much that you're not getting paid for. Make these corporations pay for someone to do those things and don't allow the men in these situations to just use you for your time, energy, and resources. And this is me just brainstorming. Not everybody is going to be extra extra radical, but there are things that we can do in our day-to-day lives that support women.
Now, we talked about Jesse Song and we talked about 6B4T. Now, let's talk about this email that I got. Um, and it kind of goes hand in hand, but it's a little bit different. All right, so this is what she says. Hi, Burb. I've been given a lot of thought to the current situation for women in America, the progress we've made, and what needs to happen next. I believe that I've come up with a strategy to continue shifting things in a positive direction for women. I call it 4B plus 2. Please allow me to share it with you and your audience and the reasoning behind it.
The 4B plus two strategy is the four Bs.
No dating men, no marriage, no sex with men, and no children. Plus, no going to church and no tithing in church. We've already talked about deconstructing. So, this goes handinhand with what Jesse Song was talking about. She says, "I saw a video of one of the leaders of the white Christian nationalist movement stating, women are people that people come out of. it doesn't take talent to simply reproduce biologically and describing how their movement believes that women should not have the right to vote. He went on to further describe how women should not have any autonomy and should be under the control of a man. He stated they should receive, surrender, and accept. Of course, this is highly problematic, but the even bigger issue is that not one male pastor or religious leader has come out to condemn his toxic words and suggestions. She's talking about Doug Wilson last year. He went on CNN and he spouted all of this. He was really forthcoming with this. And so many of his sickans, so many of these men, they spew the same thing talking about repeal the 19th. They are the ones that want to keep stripping women of their bodily autonomy. Doug Wilson is the white man that she's talking about right here. She says, "In my opinion, before women responded, other male Christian leaders should have spoken out against this rhetoric. So to that, I suggest women stop going to church and stop giving the church their unpaid labor, which women which women perform despite having numerous responsibilities such as work, parenting, and household management. Women are in every aspect of the church such as child care, pastoral care, membership care, fundraisers, clothing drives, cleaning, cooking, bake sales, organizing, and hosting events, and numerous other volunteer activities that save the church significant amounts of money. I know several women who invest their own money in purchasing food and other items for the church fund ra fundraisers on top of organizing the fundraisers, working the fundraisers, cleaning up afterward, and still showing up with the tithes on Monday, Sunday, I'm sorry, Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday. Women should stop giving the church their time, energy, efforts, and money until the church leaders, particularly the men, properly honor and respect women's efforts and take a strong stance against what is happening in America and until things significantly improve. For the women who have concerns about their relationship with God, know that you can still maintain your relationship with God outside of going to church. You can still fellowship and maintain relationships with other Christians and your brothers and sisters in Christ. You can still view religious services online and you can still access the word without going to and volunteering in church. And while all of that is true, I still believe that the church needs to crumble just like the patriarchy because it goes handinhand with the the the legislators who are typically men. So elected officials are typically men. the the church leaders are typically men.
Even the ones that you can view online and also the mouthpieces that have typically been um men, you know, the writers, the movie producers, all of that works hand in hand to make propaganda that keeps women in a certain level, keeps women in certain boxes in gender roles. So, I think it all needs to crumble. But that is me talking. She is still thinking that you can maintain some of this when I am anti to all of this. All right, let's continue with her email though. Women should invest the money that they would usually tithe into themselves and some type of self-love, massages, travel, wardrobe, hair, skincare, and other things that make you feel good about yourself or self-improvement courses, reading books, and other educational and training actions. You can also use this money to help other women and children in your community.
Showing yourself love and care is showing God's love. Looking out for others but not to the extent that it's harming you is also showing God's love.
It's time for us to be less dependent on the infrastructures that are not serving us and working for us. It's time for us to be more independent and make moves that aid in our progress. We should stop giving away our power, energy, and money and waiting for others to lead us and take care of us. This is how we continue to move the needle. 4B plus two. No going to church and no paying tithes to church until we see impactful change.
What are your thoughts? She says, "I understand that you keep the names anonymous. Thank you. Because it's imperative that my name and info remain anonymous. Thanks." Obviously, I keep I kept her name anonymous. And I just wanted to relay that this is something that people are doing. You're not going to be able to do everything. And you're not going to be able to do everything that we were talking about in the 6B14T, but you can pull your volunteer time and you can um volunteer with women and children. You can keep your tithes for yourself and pay down your debt. If you have extra money, pour it into another woman that is in need. Stop giving to these churches and institutions that uphold oppression. Dale Partridge is a Theo, bro. he is under the same type of umbrella like um Doug Wilson that she was talking about earlier. These people want a theocracy because religion and government go hand in hand to oppress people. They are wanting to oppress um women. They're wanting to oppress people who aren't straight. They are wanting to oppress people that are not white and are not Christian. So this is his American wish list or his um what are these christofascist wish list. He says an American I'm sorry a Christian president Christian Supreme Court justices and our infatuation with Israel. Outlaw abortion so no more reproductive rights for women. Outlaw homosexuality and trans. Are you just getting rid of people? Okay. No more women in government. So no women leaders. repeal the 19th so women shouldn't have the right to vote. Outlaw corn. Deport 100 million people. Outlaw mosque temples and synagogues. So just make it so that we are a Christian nation. Obviously many of these things are against the constitution and freedoms. It doesn't change that this is what a lot of these people think. So this is the reason why women need to deconstruct from these patriarchal religions. And here in the United States, the religion that dominates is Christianity. So deconstruct. Stop going there giving your time, energy, and money to these places that want to oppress women. Stop. Stop aiding and abetting in your own oppression. All right, y'all. Let me know what you think about all of this. Women are the kind of people that people come out of.
>> So you just think they're meant to have babies. That's it. They're just a vessel.
>> No, it doesn't take any talent to simply reproduce biologically. The wife and mother who is the chief executive of the home is entrusted with three or four or five eternal souls.
>> I'm here as a as a working journalist and I'm a mom of three.
>> Good for you.
>> Is that an issue for you?
>> No, it's not automatically an issue.
Christ Church senior pastor Doug Wilson is the leader of a Christian nationalist movement that believes in a patriarchal society where men are dominant and women are expected to submit to their husbands. Josh and Amy Prince along with their four kids move from Washington State to Moscow, Idaho, where Wilson's movement is based.
>> Do you see Amy as your equal?
>> Yes and no. In the sense that we're both saved by grace. We're absolutely on equal footing, but we have very different purposes. God-given.
>> But do you see yourself as the head of the household as as the man?
>> He is the head >> and I of our household.
>> Yes. And I do submit to him.
>> So like moving here ultimately your decision.
>> Yes, that's a great example.
>> Wilson says in his vision of a Christian society, women as individuals shouldn't be able to vote. His fellow pastors Jared Longshore and Toby Sumpter agree.
In my ideal society, we would vote as households. Um, and I would ordinarily be the one that would cast the vote, but I would cast the vote having discussed it with my household.
>> But what if there's a your wife doesn't want to vote for the same right >> person as you, >> right? Well, then that's a great opportunity for a good discussion.
>> There are some who have gone so far as to say that they want the 19th amendment repealed.
>> I would support that. Um, and I'd support it on the basis that the the atomization that comes with our current system is not good for humans.
>> And Wilson, a veteran himself, is unapologetic about his view that women shouldn't be in certain leadership or combat roles.
>> Looking at the leadership page for Christ Church, it's all men. Do you accept women in leadership roles in the church and in government?
>> In the church, no. Uh because the Bible says not to.
>> Well, that's not what happens in the Bible. Women do lead all the time.
>> Progressive faith leader Reverend Jennifer Butler is concerned about Wilson's growing influence.
>> He is rapidly gaining in power. He has hundreds of churches established around the the country. They actually literally want to take over towns and cities and they have access to this administration.
>> Wilson's highest level connection to the administration is Defense Secretary Pete Hgsth. It's not organizationally tied to us, but it it's the kind of thing we love to see.
>> For his part, Hagsath has publicly praised Wilson.
>> Now, we're standing on the shoulders of a generation later um the Doug Wilsons and the others.
