The process to become a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon involves taking the written board exam during the chief year of residency, followed by the oral board exam one to two years after graduation, and then obtaining hospital privileges through a multi-step process including physical exams, blood work, drug screening, and credential verification, which can take several months to complete.

Process To Become A “Board Certified” Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon #oralsurgery #doctorgallagher追加:
I'm going to tell you the process to become a board-certified oral surgeon.
After becoming an oral surgeon, you get board-certified. And I'm going to tell you where I am in that process right now.
So, after you finish your four- or six-year oral maxillofacial surgery residency, all right, during your chief year, your final years of residency, you take the written board exam. That's part one. That qualifies you to take the oral board exam, which you take one year out after you graduate or two, depending on your program. So, then I took the board exam on February 3rd just now, 2026, and they know I don't have hospital privileges yet. So, I reapply in the middle of February. It's a month-long physical exams, blood work, paperwork, all your degrees, everything, yada yada.
So, in the middle of March, finally they're like, "All right, now we got to schedule the physical exam, blood work, and drug screening." Did that on a Friday middle of March. They knew that I cleared that stuff within two hours, all right. Finally, they let me know three and a half weeks later, "Okay, you cleared everything. Now we're sending you to the board of the hospital. The administrators will let you know if you passed or not." I was I was like, "Okay, so when is their kind of meeting to let me know if I passed?" "Well, now you got to wait till May 19th." Okay, May 19th was two days ago. And they told me that after they cleared it, then you'll get your welcome letter privileges.
Immediately, 9:00 a.m. hit two days ago, May 19th, and I emailed them saying, "Hey, just want to know like, hey, when do I find out?" They said, "Everything's good to go. We're going to let you know tomorrow with the welcome letter and email, okay?" I still haven't received that email. The board of oral surgeons waiting for this so they can let me know if I just passed the exam in February. I have no idea if I passed or not. WHAT IS GOING THIS IS WHAT'S going on in this process. Unbelievable.
