Effective budgeting involves categorizing expenses into specific envelopes (such as travel, Christmas, bills, wellness, and school) and tracking spending within each category to maintain financial control. Debt management requires tracking multiple debts separately, making consistent monthly payments, and understanding repayment terms to achieve debt freedom. The video demonstrates how to organize finances using a binder system with labeled envelopes for different expense categories, track debt balances across multiple accounts, and maintain savings goals while managing various financial obligations.

End of May Totals, Debt Update and Some Travel Spending. Getting Ready for Overseas Travel ☺️Added:
Hi everyone, welcome back. I am filming my end of May video now. I haven't done this in a while since February according to my planner. Uh these are February totals. So the end of February, this was what we had. Let's see what we've got after. So we've got March, April, May.
So three months basically. I want to say thank you to all the new subscribers.
Thank you for following my journey. Uh if you're here from the collab, welcome.
I appreciate your support. And even if you just watch me do the coll the collab, the foodie collab, that's fine.
Um you can watch whatever you want to watch, however long you want to watch.
Uh but yes, so let's get to it.
Uh I will be doing a debt update also.
But I'm going to be filming this. I don't have enough time to film. So, I'm going to film this in two sections and then I'm going to mesh them together. All right, let's start.
Okay, I've got travel and Christmas. Oh my gosh, my desk needs a bit of a wipe down, I think. Let me see what you can see. There we go.
and let's get the calculator to add. So, we're doing travel first.
Now, I did condense this and I did make some purchases which I'll just update you as we go. So, Airs has I think $45.
Yes.
45 accommodation has 1,350 7080 1380.
Hope everyone's been well.
Um I want to I'm going to show you some happy mail, too. I should have showed you first. That's all right. I'll show you at the end of the video.
It's from this girl budgets uh 470 in insurance travel insurance transfers has 250 350 370 385.
It makes it so much easier when it's all cash condensed. It's condensed down.
Transportation has 250 275.
Can you believe we're at the end of May?
I'm just still shocked how fast the year is going. And yet it feels like it's slow. It's a weird feeling. Uh five in experiences. We got 525.
525 food. In food we have 250 275. Oh, a lot of liking the 7 something 75 or something an 80. It's funny. Uh 275. I said beautiful shopping has 250 350 375 375 for shopping.
Souvenirs and gifts has 225 + 225.
Now luggage. We can throw away the 300.
I bought my luggage. I bought some uh I bought a new Oh, I'll show you.
Let's add the 21st. Hold on.
I bought a passport wallet holder thing.
Uh it's got the RFID uh in between the layers. It's so cute.
It's um it's like a vinyl.
It's waterproof, which is great. It's got a pocket on the back, which is great. A pocket on the front. So when we're about to board, I can put all the boarding passes there. Although you don't I don't know if I'm going to need it if I've got my phone and it's digital. It's got a wrist strap. And these are all our passports already in there. So it's perfect. Then it's got card slots, a mesh little zipper pocket here, I guess, to put coins you can put.
Uh and then it's got another pocket here.
right here. And I think one, this one is for the boarding pass. It's very deep.
Goes right down actually. And these are the card slots. So, it's got four card slots. And then another pocket. Am I too close? Sorry if I am. Yeah. And then it's got this little clip on the inside where you can clip your keys. Uh I'm thinking of getting an air tag. So, uh you can buy those key. You can put it in like a key thing and maybe I'll clip it on there. It's got a pen loop also. It's pretty good. The one I wanted to get was not available anymore. It was real leather, but I figured, you know what?
It doesn't really matter. It's not like it's going to be my everyday wallet.
So, that is I think it's pretty good.
It's a portable.
Yeah. Got it from Amazon.
So, I bought that and then I bought my luggage. I bought two large check-in suitcases, one medium, and two carryons. So, I've got one carry-on for myself, one carry-on for one of the twins. Two large suitcases, one for me, one for the twin, one of the twins, James. And then the medium suitcase is for my youngest straus. Um, he's not going to need a lot. Plus, you know, he's not just not going to need a lot.
Or I also got uh bags which haven't arrived yet, like travel bags um that say charges. One for myself and one for James and Christian, the older boys. Um myself, I'm just going to include if you know if I'm not sure yet. I might not bring my youngest son's iPad, but if we do, I'll bring the charger in with me.
Uh, what else? And I also got little travel bag for my medications. And I also got a little um cuz for my diabetes, I'm on a zic and I got a case for that. And also um what are they called? Like little ice packs that jaw ice packs that fit into the that container. So, but my the chem the pharmacist did tell me that apparently once you open the you don't need to put it have it in the fridge.
However, it can't reach past it can it's good up to 30° C. Anything past that, it spoils.
That's why you need those that it needs to be kept cool. So, so I bought all that. That was a total of $300 Rooney.
So, there goes that. So, now I've got $20. I'm going to probably uh I need to get luggage tags also. Uh and I was thinking maybe the straps, but I'm going to maybe save another 100. So, up to 100 and keep it at that. And then that's it.
That's going to be the end of that. All right. Now pet boarding which is the pet catery the cateries basically the cat hotel has 360 no 260 and then we got miscellaneous which I got to take 100 out of here.
Hold on. Let me grab my Y. So, let's take the 200 out.
Put 100 in because you guys, I was looking at my shoes. I have no nothing appropriate.
Like, I've got no sandals, nothing. I haven't done shopping for myself in a very long time. And I've just got um I've got a pair of cheap Kmart slip-ons which honestly I've been wearing all summer la um this year. So I went on to Novo shoes and they've got a a huge summer sale from their summer range and I got these really nice sandals like very cushion like like a platform very they look very comfortable. Great reviews. I got another pair of slip-ons in a different color. And I also got Oh, I got three pairs. What did I get?
Oh, and I got like some slides. Like I'll see if I can get the pictures. I'll put them up so you can see or I'll when I I'll do an unboxing um when everything comes and I'll show everything. I'm going to do a pack with me video anyway.
So, I got because I was thinking what how I'm going to go overseas with what one pair of shoes are. It just not smart. And I also need to buy just a pair of walking shoes. Uh which I don't know if you've seen the sbers. Adidas have brought out the sumbers but in a Mary Jane which I think are the cutest.
So, I might get a pair of those but closer to the date. But I use the miscellaneous money because I realized I don't have an envelope for clothing or anything else.
So $100, but I got three pairs of shoes for $100. Like how good is that? They were at least half price off. So they would have it would have originally cost me $200. I got them for Yeah. Amazing.
So now in miscellaneous I've got 105.
I'm going to keep saving up to a,000 until if if it reaches that. If it doesn't, I'm not fast.
All right. So, in travel, I've got $4,000 $4,340.
Um, let's see. It's up five 3,535, which is what I like to see because we are traveling. We need the money.
Yeah. All right, that's travel.
Sorry, I had to chitchat in between. I have to keep you updated with all my what's happening in my life or especially for travel. All right. Uh this is Christmas binder. This is from the general.
Super cute. I love this. As soon as I saw her, I said, I need this. All right, let's see what we've saved for Christmas so far. 50 60. Let's organize the money.
50 60 70 80 for section one and two.
So, this one uh is not a priority right now, but I'm still saving for it. I have an envelope for it in one of the bind in the events binder.
And look, it will become a priority once I'm back from my trip.
Uh, in section three and four, we've got $80.
Oh gosh, get in there. So, section five and six.
Let's see what we've got in here. Oo, got 125.
sections seven and eight, which is the last two sections. And I've got an ID of $3, but that's all right. I have 50 70 80 90 50 70 80 90 $15, which totals $390.
So, $100 up from last time since Feb.
Like I said, it's not really a priority right now.
All right. Where are we up to? Uh, Bill's binder.
Bill's binder. Let's see what we have.
Can you see that? Yes, you can.
Okay. Bill's binder. Let's clear that off. This is not going to have a Is this No, this is the car binder. Vicki, what are you doing? Let's put that aside.
Bill's binder is here.
I was going to say that doesn't look like bills to me. Electricity has $150 in the bank.
Uh, excess gas. So this is like a buffer for gas has 30.
The buffer for water has 10.
Subscriptions has nothing. Hex has 150 in the bank.
This will have gone down severely because basically there's no the hex was paid my tax bill and there's no emergency fund currently which makes me sad.
But that's all right. We can rebuild.
That's the way I see it. If it needs to be used, you use it and you can always rebuild. accountant $20.
I got an email from the accountant saying um if I return I'll get $25 back which is really good. $10 in snowball emergency has nothing and time off has 25075.
Okay. So, let's see the damage. The damage is we've got 715.
Let's minus 5320.
So, over $45,000.
Gonskis.
It is what it is. It doesn't matter. I see it. Like, that's the way I see it.
We work to save, but they're not money is not going to stay in there forever.
especially a bills binder. It's there to be used. So, wellness is next. I don't think there's much in here at all, you guys, because I had a colonoscopy and a lot of the money was taken out. Doctor, specialist, dental, optical chemist doesn't even have anything. Nope.
Hairdresser beauty has 10.
I think I can add this on my own. 10, 25.
Now, this has an IU, but we're still going to count it. 25 35 45 and 50. $50 in wellness. Oh gosh, that's not going to take us get us far. So, minus 230 uh work school binder, which is this one.
And next week is one of my colleagues birthday. So there's money going to be taken out of this. So but we've got 10 20 no 20 30 $40 $50.
Let me add this. $50 for work events.
At least 35 is going to go from there.
School fees has 20 + 10 is 30 + 30.
Camps excursions has 50.
Team kids has 50.
65.
Oh, we need to top that up. It's going it's getting low. School shoes has 10.
School photos has 15.
Graduation has 60.
Technology has 50, 70, 90, excuse me. And school supplies, excuse me, has 15.
Okay.
And that's $3.85. Oh, it's gone up by $105.
All right. Now, we have events binder.
Um, this might have something in there.
Okay.
What's this one? Family outings has 25.
Easter has 40.
Mother's Day has 30.
Uh, Black Friday has 30.
Christmas has 2035.
Boxing Day has 15 and school holidays has 10.
$185.
It has gone down.
It's okay. If it does birthdays, I think is next. Yes.
Okay. Birthdays. I think not many.
Dresses has 50. 50. Not 15. My birthday has 10. Nothing in James, nothing in Christian. F. Friends and family has 10.
And birthday parties has 20. $90. Wow.
H.
It's all right.
Priorities are going to change next year.
All right. Now, the coll the collab has 30. If you saw that was my last video, you would have seen me stuff $30. Now, let's count car house binder.
All right. This one doesn't have a lot either.
All right. Nothing.
Nothing. Car rjo has something. 10 bucks.
Roadside has nothing. Car maintenance has nothing.
House insurance has 30.
Insurance excess has 50.
Land rates don't think it's got anything. No, nothing in there.
Household maintenance $5.
Appliances and furniture has 25 and pets has 25.
145.
All right.
145.
Uh, tiny Tuesdays.
Let's see. I'll change some of these envelopes out.
Uh $5.
Oops. Let's get rid of that. This doesn't have a lot of money because a lot of challenges were completed.
20 uh in May.
So I I don't I think there's only and one more challenge that might have money or Yes. the wellness binder, which is this one. And this has 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, $35, and $60. I think that's all there is.
Everything else is brand new challenges.
So, we're going to start June with a lot of new challenges, a lot of new categories. So, $60 in here.
And last but not least, let's count what we have in travel challenges.
They might not be a lot because we did complete and empty out a lot. All right. In here, this book, the 2026 in 2026 from the general, this was in her advent.
We have 51 52 53 5400 20 40 60 85 20 40 60 86 20 40 60 87 20 40 60 88 20 40 60 70 85.
So 85.
That's nice.
It's a good chunky of money.
All right. In this binder, uh, this is new. See what's in here.
Uh, $75. So, we ended up finishing a few of these challenges. Also, uh, the aim, my aim, let's talk about what the aim is for June.
For June, I would like to complete these two cards and like to complete the winter fashion and which I don't think it's got anything.
The winter fashion. No. And quarter three I would like to complete.
That's the aim.
Okay. In the quarter challenge, I've only got $40.
Let me see. Quarter three, it should have 40.
Yes, it does. So, that's the aim for June.
July will be a great month for the travel challenges because it's my it's a golden month. I get paid three times and a lot it will be going into travel challenges.
Okay. And I think that's it to be honest.
Yeah, this one we've got a star in June.
Yeah.
Okay. So, we've got one. Oh, exactly a thousand.
So, that means travel has essentially 5,340.
Uh, I did use 400, so would have had more. Uh, but that's it's there to be used, but I've got my luggage. I've got I've got to make a list. I've been watching a lot of pack with me also.
Okay, let's add this up.
Okay. 7,390 total.
7 Oops. 7390 - 9825 is We're down. Well, I'm down. No one else is 24, 1435, which you know what it is what it is.
That's what happens. It'll go up, it will go down, it'll go round and round.
Let's just do that. And I reckon we do some coloring in.
Oh, no. We'll leave the coloring to the end, I think. Yeah. Oh, should we?
Let me see. cuz I think I've got I think I have debt let me see Christmas emergencyus.
Um yeah, we'll leave it until next time.
Yeah, that I don't need.
Okay. Uh, all right. Let me show you happy mail quickly.
So, when I was who was let me just lift uh I think I think pretty sure it was Aussie Budgets.
Tammy she was talking about she mentioned that this girl budgets her plan is from her budget plan is from this girl budget. She was mentioning Oh, no. Was it her?
No, no, it was Sophie Budgets AU. Sorry.
I know um Tammy has this planner, but Sophie Budgets AU uh also uses this planner. And she was saying that she bought her new planner for next year at um No, she had bought this year's planner. It was cheap because she bought the ones that like the seconds from uh this girl budgets and it was cheap. So I thought you know I wandered over there to the website and I thought let me have a look and yeah lo and behold even her the good planners that don't have markings. So the second planners basically she this girl budget said that they've got markings. That's what I read.
Uh, and the other ones don't.
Look how pretty this box is. Wow.
So, yeah, I ended up getting it. We're going to have a look at this planner quickly. Oh my gosh, look how beautiful this is. Budget with intention. Save with purpose. Repeat with consistency.
Oh, I love this.
Oh, where can I put this? Let's put it in here.
Does it even fit? No, it doesn't. Oh, I'm going to have to find a place for that.
All right, let's just stick that up here so I can read that. So, yeah, I went on to budget um this girl budgets and I bought a pack of her stickers. I'll show you in a minute. And the planner, which is the seconds.
Uh what did she write? Thank you so much for your order, Vicki. Oh, that's so nice.
I love this budgeting community. So, this is the planner. Her box is gorgeous.
And you know what? I'm glad it's a pink one this time. So, this is going to be for next year. I'm not changing planners midway.
Uh, so it's un it's not dated. So, the tabs are clear. You can see ah look and she's got monthly stickers there or you can write it and you can start anytime you want. So let's have a quick look. So she's got yearly goals, yearly bills tracker. Then it's the months. So January or whenever you start. It's a monthly calendar and then you go into the paycheck breakdown. So you get one, two, three, four, and five, I think, I would assume. Yeah. And then you've got weekly checkin. Oh, I love this. I used to do this all the time.
Oh my gosh, I love this. I used to do this all the time when I used to budget with an Eron Condrin monthly and I used to have get the stickers and all that. I like this. I'm going to start doing doing that again. Then you got your syncing funds tracker, expense tracker, and then your debt tracker, savings, investment tracker, and month in review.
How amazing is that? Oh, it like Oh, I like this. So, you got nine months of all that. And let me see what's in the back.
And then you got some notes pages.
And here are the the tabs.
Oh, she includes the tabs. I thought I had to. Yeah, you don't have to write them in after all. All right. So, she said the reason why these are seconds. So, this was $19, you guys. It's cheap. Hold on. Let me put this all back. She said that there's markings on the cover, not the actual There's nothing wrong with the guts of the planner. It's just the the cover. Okay. One thing I did realize that's different from the other planner is there's no visual trackers like coloring in. So, I'm going to have to maybe buy those, which is all good.
Um, honestly, I can't see anything.
I mean, obviously, her quality control is amazing.
I can't see anything. All right. So, I also got this sticker pack, but you know what I didn't do? I didn't show you. So, this is a thank you card.
Gorgeous. And she gave me some freebies.
So, girls just want to have fun fun funds.
Oh, that's a good play on words. Uh, the saves $90. And she gave me a cute some little paper clips that I always keep to the side in a little dish. So, this will go in my uh mini challenges binder. And then the sticker pack.
Let me have a look which I'm not going to go through because I'm not going to like I won't quickly go I'll quickly go through them. So it's a matte paper and then it's just got bill tracker stickers, the date dots.
Oh my gosh, how cute. And payday stickers. Yay.
And then it's got these ones, I'm assuming, for the monthly the monthly um view calendar.
Okay. I'm very excited.
So, I can use these stickers uh to mark off the bills every month instead of me writing it in and highlighting it.
Okay. And that's it. Oh, look. Leave it, Vicki. I'll put it in myself later. Off.
>> Hey, guys. Okay. I'm back filming the second part of this video, which is my debt balances. An update. I haven't done an update since end of February. A lot has happened. I think I have already mentioned that I ended up paying my um oh gosh, the council rates, what I owe on my zip pay after I had paid it off. I know. I know it's going backwards with the debt. However, I just I just didn't want to feel the pressure of having to pay $330 every month. So, I did it like that. And I also put my that stupid fine that I received just before well the day before Christmas.
And yeah, so I've got the zip pay now also to pay off.
So it's added to my total, but that's okay. I'm all good with that.
All right.
Uh anyway, let's let me zoom you in.
Okay, let me see. So we have let me write I haven't even written down I usually prewrite my categories I haven't. So we have from smallest to highest the center link debt which is almost paid off. It's sitting at $6021.
And then we have NAB visa actually no then is zip pay which is sitting at uh 1,765.
So I pay 152 and that's going 151 and some cents towards the pay every month.
That's what the repayment is which is better than $330.
Then we've got NAB visa, which has a ton of IUs on it, but I will pay them. I'm slowly doing that, but it should be at $5,1725.
We're close to getting under that 5,000.
We've been hovering the 5,000 for a long time. Hex, which hasn't changed, but it will be hit with the compulsory payment. No, no, no. It won't be hit with that. It will be hit with the interest on in June. Mid June usually it hits.
So, this is going to go up and then once I do my taxes, the compulsory repayment will go on and that's going to reduce it. I don't know when I'm going to do my tax return. I did mine last year in October. However, if you haven't guessed, that's when my I'm traveling. So, it's not going to happen in October. So, I've got to book to get my taxes done beforehand because I'll be away by the time the cut off date sets in. Uh, all right. So, Hex, then we've got Carlo.
car loan is sitting at $6,32151.
We are going to get under $6,000 this month. And let me just say, not this month, next month for June. But let me just say that after June's payment, there's only one year left on my loan, the contract. So, I'm super excited about that.
And then last but not least, my highest amount is my home loan, which is sitting at All right, drum roll. We're under 50.
I'm under 50,000. I keep saying we I like to share. I know no one wants to have anything to do with my debt. All right, let me I'm going to highlight just going to highlight the total.
All right, so total is 68,944.90.
So HEX, for those that aren't aware, that aren't from Australia, it's like a student loan. I did get my bachelor's in applied biology when I was very young.
Many moons ago, many many many moons ago. And uh we don't have so it's a government hex is a government loan and unless you meet the threshold. So you don't pay anything until you make certain amount of money and then you start repaying it. So for many years at least 10 years I wasn't working. I was home with my kids looking after my children especially when my youngest came along I was a single mother by then and I didn't have the support because my youngest father lives overseas so I had to do everything on my own. So working didn't make sense until my son went to school because it would mean child care would eat up everything and it's expensive. It's expensive here.
So that that was the reason why. Um anyway um so for 10 years I didn't pay it. That's why it's still hanging around like a bad smell. Uh so what the the Australian government did last year is reduce so I think you you had to 55,000 if you made 55,000 a year gross they would start taxing you a certain amount um you had to repay back but they've increased that to I can't remember if it's 57 7 or 67 or maybe it was 65. Anyway, so they've increased that and yeah, so the amount that I'll pay is less compared to last year. So last year I had to pay about $3,000 back. Um, and they usually deducted from the tax. I have opted not to do that. Maybe I should because I think it's better for me. But anyway, um but this year because of they changed the parameters, it should be about 2,000 from what I've calculated. But again, we'll see what I end up earning at the end of the year. But anyway, so that's what the hex is. Not long to go. Um obviously home loan I share with my ex-husband. I still live in the marital home. We haven't sold it, but it's on the list of things to be done. If not by the end of next year, I think the year after, definitely. I think we just want to move on, sell the house. We'll need to fix it up, sell it, and then move on.
Uh, okay. Now, usually I write down, what do I usually write down here? Let me go to February.
I don't want to make it too long. All right.
Uh, I'm just not going to write that down because the video is going to be too long. But that's my debt. This is where I'm stay staying at.
But I will write down total debt paid in May was $1,27.88.
Um, you know what? I will write this car loan is down 465.85.
Oops. 46585 from uh last month from April. NAB Visa is actually up. I did buy something but I I can't remember what I did. So it's up $31.91.
And then Zipay from last month is down 3552.
I did end up buying some heaters so that's why on Zipper that's why it's up and not down so much.
Uh so total paid off uh for this month uh 49646 home loan came down by 51842.
Uh, what else do I want to All right, I want to write total consumer debt, which is basically these three.
It totals $13,19410.
It would have been $2,000 less or almost $2,000 less. But because of what I did, I put more on Zippo. That's why.
Uh, yeah. Okay. So, we'll leave it at that. Okay.
Uh, sorry if you can hear a buzz in the background. That is the heater cuz it's cold. It is cold. It's early. It's morning. So, we're going to do my favorite thing to do, which I haven't done for two months or 3 months. Two months. I didn't do April, didn't do March. Yeah. So, two months. So, we're doing May. Let's have a look. So, Greece and Italy, I want to say far 15,370.
Let's see what we've got.
Let's see. So, let's go to savings.
Let's add up 4,340 plus in travel challenges is 1,000 plus I did use 400. So, I'm going to add that because we did save it. It's just been used. 5,740.
We should need to color up, too, which is really good. I'm very proud of myself. We're a third of the way there.
Can I do it? I don't know. But I'm going to push my hardest to get there.
We're going to push. We're going to push as much as we can. Oh, shivers. It should have been up to there. Doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Uh Christmas has 390 now. So, let's get that marker.
390. We'll count the one that's been in the is in the Christmas binder, not in the envelope.
So, we're up to Hold on. So, that's 35.
Oh, no. That's right. I did color in right. 390.
Just over 385.
That's Christmas emergency. There's nothing in there. We're meant to save 500. We've got nothing. So, not even going to worry about that. Now, the birthday, I mean, it's come and gone.
I don't remember.
I won't color in anything until we've got at least 700 in emergency cuz I took it from emergency. So, we'll leave that.
School technology has nothing. So, that hasn't changed. Counselor rates again, I won't color in until I've paid off um 1,200 on Zipay and then I'll color in the rest.
I guess I could do that though. Like if we Okay. I mean I have paid something.
21108 minus 1,200.
That's what we got left. So 98. So we can color. Actually I can. Okay. I might do the same for the birthday.
Well, the birthday doesn't have anything anyway, the emergency. But 98.
That's right. And then we've got another 1,200 to go. Yes, that's right.
Cuz although it's on Zip Pay, I'm still paying it. So technically, it's like I'm paying it.
And then we've got zip pay. Was zip pay was paid off.
That amount.
Was it this one? Yes, it was. So, this was paid off.
We just put more on it. That's all.
And family tax, we got $60 left. So we had 240 240 minus 60.
So we've paid off 180 of it.
That's going to be paid off soon.
That's going to be paid off. Three more Centerlink payments and it's going to be paid off.
All right. And that is that that is the video. That is a Do I Do I have any other? No, I don't.
