In this conversation, we're going to talk about why everyone is so enthusiastic in the stock market, what's going on in the AI space, how biotech and AI is drastically underappreciated, and where Jordy thinks people can put their money today and actually get a return going forward. This conversation covers a lot of nuanced ideas and things that Jordy hasn't talked about publicly before. So, I hope you enjoy my latest conversation with Jordi Visser.
All right, Jordy, let's start with the market seems to be very strong. Even when we get bad news, the market doesn't really sell off. And so, it feels like there's this persistent enthusiasm now that has returned to stocks. And I recently saw that there's even like this retail investor uh feeding frenzy. They are buying more stocks than they've ever bought before, even more than during the meme stock craze. And so what's your take as to why is there so much almost euphoria that's now entering the stock market?
>> I feel like every time that I go to Maine and I come back here, we just dive right in.
>> I'm in I'm in a library which I mean I literally just wrote a Substack saying I don't read books anymore. Feel a little out of comfort not seeing eagles and porcupines and everything I saw last week in rain.
>> Uh but okay, we'll we'll we'll go off the fact it's my first time in here. Uh, I think this was a week that kind of showed just we literally had over Memorial Day weekend hope that there'd be a deal that tankers would be going through the straightforward moves. The market trades up on Monday while we're closed >> and then you get couple bombs being dropped.
>> Mhm.
>> Some skirmishes.
The market stays up. Then we get more news which seems like it's even worse.
The market falls a little bit and by the end of the day we get another talk about okay the truce is still ongoing. We still have no tankers going across. The reason I'm I mean when markets handle good news well and then for bad news they barely budge.
It just says that you I mean that's the definition of a bull market. And I don't see this as speculation other than the pockets that are obvious which are really in in the memory names of which there's three names and the size of them is so big. Uh but other than that there's no way to look at the fact that the market's made I think 21 new all-time highs so far this year. Uh and we're barely 5 months or as of today we're 5 months in. So we're on pace for having 50 all-time new highs. And I didn't think we'd be doing this, but this is clearly a representation of what artificial intelligence is doing to the market. And now we've got oil falling faster. And even though there's going to be shortages, there's going to be a reality it sets. And we still don't have any tankers going through the straight of Hormuz. And we have bottlenecks all over the place. Um, unless this is going to turn into something much bigger and we're not going to have any going through for months and months and months, which doesn't seem likely at this point, uh, I think the best the market or the worst we're going to see out of the market in the near term is some kind of consolidation or minor pullback uh, without oil and inflation going significantly higher.
>> Now, I recently saw that the Buffett indicator that everyone always, you know, talks about, um, it's at like 235%. It's the highest ever in history.
And so a bunch of people are yelling and screaming saying the stock market is, you know, so overvalued. It's the most overvalued it has ever been. At the same time, you can go and you can look at the data of, okay, the stock market's up 9 10% to start the year and earnings are up, you know, 14 15%. And so actually stocks are getting cheaper even though they're at these kind of extreme valuations. And so when you actually look at the health of the market, the other component I think people will say is, oh, there's only a couple of stocks.
It's only a couple of AI stocks that are driving this whole thing. But the S&P equal weighted that's at an all-time high as well. And so do you still feel like this is a thing that is being driven by actual earnings and and kind of the underlying fundamentals or do you worry that now we're entering into some kind of euphoric phase where yeah we've gotten 21 all-time highs but you know there could be some sort of pain around the corner.
>> The reality is profit margins are growing and earnings are growing. Um until that changes >> which you know the breadth of profit margins is not good. um it is isolated to mainly tech companies, but that's been the case now for 17 years. So, there's two ways to look at this. Um first of all, the Buffett indicator to me is more of a bullish thing than a bearish thing. Every time I hear people say this, and I reflect on it all the time, we talked about it during uh Liberation Day last year. The reason it was a positive is because every time someone on the macro side calls me up all bearish when we start bombing Iran, when Iran starts shutting down the straight, when liberation day happens and we're worried about tariffs and we all come back to the same reason, which is exactly where we are now verse last year. It is a form of taco. I mean, I hate to say it, but um there's no way that Trump can continue and we've seen no real bombing. Every time the US bombs, what do they say?
Truth is still on. This is just, you know, minor skirmishes. This is and the reality is we're a financialized economy. And if we want to help, which we do through transfer payments, it's a major voting block. We can't allow people to lose their jobs. We can't allow gas to go up to $10 a gallon if we have control over it. And I think Trump has figured a way to say, "Okay, if I keep bombing, then it's going to take longer." And I've run out of time. We've used all the buffers. There's no question about it. Inventories are being drained. Strategic petroleum reserve is being drained. So, I think people just have to realize that the Buffett indicator is a representation of what you said, earnings and profit margins, which are growing exponentially. Small businesses are having trouble competing with large businesses. Um, most of the companies in the S&P 500 that are working are technology companies. Now you've got derivative technology companies which are related to the infrastructure. Soon you're going to have health care companies and pharma companies and things like that that are benefiting from longevity with AI. All of these things are just going to continue. And what you're doing is you're going to continue to have this situation where the Buffett indicator when it starts to fall because stocks have fallen 20%. Then either the central bank and or the government has to come in because they can't allow it to fall down.
>> Mhm. Now the MSCI uh world index XUS is also at an all-time high which suggests that this is not just a domestically driven you know bull market. This is kind of a global almost generational bull market that we're living through.
uh what do you think is driving these other countries or other markets outside the US?
>> It's the same thing in the US. Um we import a lot of things for artificial intelligence. uh the data center buildout, the optical side, obviously memory, uh with inside my uh artificial intelligence thematic portfolio. I think there's 15 to 20 names that are international uh semiconductor companies like ASML and SoyC uh chemical companies like AIMO Namoto out of Japan. All the Japanese ones, all of the Korean ones, the memory names, they're the major winners.
But also countries like Germany build a lot of things like Seammen's energy and stuff. So when you have a manufacturing need, which is what we have when PMIs are up, it usually brings in other countries. The big thing for me is most of the other countries of the world suffer from what's happening with energy.
>> Uh they don't have the same situation as the US. They don't have unlimited natural gas. They don't have uh the situation of being the largest exporter of of energy. So with that situation, when I see global markets still doing well, when Korea and Japan are doing exceptionally well and these are countries that depend on importing chemicals and oil, that is usually a very strong sign that this is not just an isolated thing in the US, but you have to think about the AI trade being a much bigger thing. And I'll just add one more thing for people who who don't realize this. Johnson Redbook is a weekly um release that shows consumer spending. So, it's kind of like retail sales, but it comes out every week. The Johnson Redbook most recent reading is up about 9% year-over-year. It's accelerated during gas prices going higher. So, you can't get past the fact that the PMIs are still trending higher and strong.
Transportation and flatbed rates are high X oil, which means the shipping part of the economy is strong, which is confirmation on the first. Earnings revisions don't stop. they've continued to move higher and global markets are seeing strength. So when you put all that together to be worried about something that is already old news, meaning I hate to say it, but oil doomers, it's old news. It doesn't mean we won't have inflation stay above 4%.
It doesn't mean that we won't see problems in the second half of the year.
But I think people that have been too fixated on when the floor is going to drop out or missing the point that the AI generational situation is still in the first or second inning. Today's episode is brought to you by Figure.

Now we know that more than 50% of Americans look out 12 months and they believe the stock market will be higher which I think is a pretty bullish signal. At the same time uh it went through the internet uh this week that the savings rate has dropped 3%. And people were freaking out about that. Do you see any sort of correlation of you know people are becoming much more uh kind of risktakers at the same time that the savings rate is depleting? One of the big mistakes that people make is the savings rate should decline when people are feeling optimistic about their jobs, the stock market, whatever the case is.
So, you know, >> Oh, you mean they're deploying their capital?
>> Yeah. Or or they're spending money out of the stock. Whatever the case is, they have huge savings that are being built up in in the stock market. Um, I know that people talk about the fact that most people don't have money in the stock market. The reality is pension funds represent a good portion of people in the country. They have money in the stock market. So when the stock market's going higher, the economy and and people's ability to spend money is still there. So I this this whole thing fits in the more you read X and this is one of the reasons why I think you know you gave a stat from the University of Michigan which differs from what's happening at the headline consumer confidence level and everyone tries to write it off as just politics is just this. I I don't think it is. I do think it's two factors. One is there's no doubt that when you spend a lot of money and your wages are not growing at a fast pace, your house is not going up in value and you're kind of trapped in it, which is the reality for most people in the country. You're worried about AI, you're worried about all these factors, you do have a political bias because of the polarization, but then you also have the doomers in X and you have all the news which is geared towards scaring people. I think at the end of the day it's more of a fear factor that is also representation of the amount of information that we're getting as an overload and all of these negative things which just continue to be brought out. And one of the factors that I think is becoming more of an issue.
I think countries of the world particularly China does not want the US to have an op an optimism on AI. They want data centers to be stopped. It is a race towards getting global power of AI and actually being able to deploy it across the globe. And I think slowing it down here and making it more of a political thing which seems to be working at least reflected in consumer confidence is just the nature of where we are.
>> I saw a video um I think it's Andover, New Jersey. Um there was a kind of a town hall and they decided that they were not going to have a data center built there and uh immediately the entire room stood up and was like standing ovation, you know, clapping. um and I don't know all the details and so maybe there was legitimate concerns or whatever, but it did strike me as um kind of these two worlds. In the same week that I see that video, I also see Anthropic come out and say they raised $65 billion at almost a trillion dollar valuation. Their revenue is now $47 billion annualized. And so you say to yourself, well, like that growth needs to be supported by power, hardware, compute, right? All this stuff if they want to continue to grow. like we're going to get the data centers. They may not be in Andover, New Jersey, but like they're going to go somewhere.
>> Yeah, we're living in this real time situation where um the distributional wealth problem is real. Um in the same way like if you take the Andover situation for a data center and you say, okay, that's one side and that's residents of but then you go to a college having Eric Schmidt speak at it where he gets booed. I mean, Eric Schmidt created a tool forever or was part of a company that >> probably helped a lot of those graduates get to the finish line.
>> Yeah. And and and again, because of what Google's been able to do, they bought DeepMind. They're going to help people live forever. All of these different things. But imagine Steve Jobs being booed for the iPhone. But we're at that stage now where the distribution of wealth problem has caused such a huge problem that whether it's residents in a country caring about or in a in a county or a city caring about their kids or it's students, you know, 20-ish years old that are booing one of the fathers of the greatest thing that they've ever been able to have. That just shows kind of this shumpeterian thing of heading towards socialism, heading towards this distribution of wealth problem. And I don't see it getting better based on artificial intelligence. So I think if people are looking for when is this going to get better, when is consumer confidence going to go higher? Well, unless we have some kind of hiring boom or unless we go into another pandemic, the government floods everyone with money so that they can yolo again, I don't see this happening. Um, so I think this is this permanent trend. So when you see these charts and you're like, okay, this has to snap back. This has never happened. It's not a bearish chart. It's just a representation of the distribution of wealth problem that's happening around the globe. And it will remain something that the governments number one have to print. Number two, that Buffett indicator, it fits right in with it. They can't let the Buffet indicator go down. You have two choices.
I have to keep this thing afloat and make sure I'm supporting this financialization of the economy or I have to allow a great depression to reset everything. And that's not an option. So, you're left with the first one, which is just just make sure that as this administration said a year ago, and people didn't listen to it, okay, we've made the decision. Um, we started the tariff thing, now we're going to run it hot. We're we're audibleing. We're going to run this hot. They've been running it hot. They're going to continue to run it hot.
>> Yeah. What do you think are the downsides for the wealthy people when they run it hot? Are there any? Like, we know what the downsides are for the bottom of the K shape, right? But are there downsides to the folks who have high income, have assets, etc. when they run it hot? Um, again, when you say downsides, it's really hard to say um how a wealthy person suffers if asset prices are going higher. They continue to go. I could say that it'll be a different story 3 years from now or four years from now. I could go through some of my futuristic things on abundance and how abundance is not good for people that own scarce assets because wealth turns into scarcity. You own you take your money and you put it into assets that are scarce and that means you're trying to find a way to go. If I believe in abundance and I believe that all art will have a rep, you know, a completely replicated thing where you don't know what's real or not, I could say that that does it. I could say that the blockchain starts to become the bigger asset and that the wealthy people will never accept the blockchain and will never kind of go into. I could come up with all these different ways, but I've joked about this before.
I think um the ego that's associated and and what people have as they've made money and having worked on Wall Street for a long time, I think the greatest risk to people that um have made a lot of money is that it gets hard to make money in the future.
>> Uh it's hard to have a job. People do look upon how their kids are doing. You see it at baseball games yelling at their kids or doing this and that because they're not living up to what they said. I just think the economy is going to go through a very different stance where the way we view money and the distribution of wealth. I do think there's going to be a normalization because of education because of commoditizing the ability of intelligence. Um you know on a side note and this is something that I think is important. I've had the luxury with being connected to you to go to a lot of your events and at those events and at the dinners afterwards I meet a lot of people and these people are grateful for having people like you and me talk to them >> at a level that kind of makes them feel like they have a chance or at least give them the chance to have a little bit of that feeling maybe not of being in the top 1% but of making some money trading of being involved in things maybe getting invested in things maybe learning how to use AI. So this week I made the decision because the question I've been asked the most as a crowd sourcing person is how do I start with AI? So for the first year it was how do I use it? What do I do? Can you give me a tutorial? So I did a a tutorial did a video series and I I realized in going through it that most people kind of did that but they didn't do anything else.
And I realized that showing people how to like use it especially with chat and things like that was not enough. So, I did a video that I'm it's it's released on YouTube and it is titled how do I start with AI and it is meant to show people how easy it is and they can do the the journey that I did and it will take them literally uh a weekend to get to the point in my opinion where they know enough about the computer they know enough about the difference between chat co-work and code. So action using them to do things building things but then finally at the end setting up open cloth setting up Hermes agents and I think once you do that the greatest power you can get as someone who maybe doesn't feel like they're participating in the economy if you do that with AI I think you're underestimating the impact it will have on your life and your your kids' life.
>> Another area where there's a lot of impact happening that people may not realize is uh in the biotech space. It seems like uh there's people at a very high level who are like, "Hey, AI plus biotech should be, you know, valuable and really have a positive impact to people's lives." Um, but we haven't really seen tons of examples yet other than, you know, the one guy cured cancer, I think, in his dog in Australia or something, right? So, like there was these cool moments of genius, but where's it showing up in big companies?
I think you're getting excited about Eli Liy and some of the stuff they're doing.
Can you explain?
Yeah, I've written a lot of pieces about Eli Liy and um GLP1s over the course of the last few years, but in particular, I wrote a paper on Eli Liy in October, I think it was October of last year, and it was how they are an AI trade. They're part of my 100 name thematic portfolio.
They're the only healthcare name that is in there. Uh they just released earnings. Their revenues are up 55% year-over-year >> and 55% >> and they're a trillion dollar company.
55%. I want people to hear that number 55%. Now these are the types of numbers that you're talking about with Nvidia.
These are the types of numbers. So this is related to um GLP1s which again they've had a huge impact on the world.
I remember when friends of mine that were doctors uh including a family member said this is a lifecher. I've seen people's lives change. Now this was years ago. This is when it first came out. And their description was no. I've had people that mentally have like become a different person. Like their addictions are gone. All of the things that people have now heard about, I had heard about it at the very early stages.
People are still fading the impact that it has on, you know, chip companies and fast food companies. Like it is it has had a real thing. The reason I bring that up for this, I'm getting more excited about longevity and this connection because Eli Lily has had so many announcements over the last 6 months related to AI. They are in partnership with Encilico. They are in partnership with Isomorphic Labs of Deep Mine. They are in partnership with Nvidia.
They are buying up companies left and right. I'll be talking about this in the video. So, I'm getting more excited again. Eli Liy, if this was a tech company back after the iPhone came out, all of these tech companies were buying Instagram. They were buy all of all of these became major things. What I see on the biotech side are ideas. Um there was a wave of biotech companies that came out uh I think before co maybe after co even because of Maderna and this and this whole situation but there's been waves of oh let me get involved and that was the only IPOs that were happening for a period of time now to IPO a company a biotech company you have an idea it may not it's not proven yet but you have an idea and in a lot of cases what ended up happening was this great idea this scientifically based idea maybe it made it to the the 20 yard line, but it couldn't get inside the red zone and it just couldn't get over the finish line. Well, that's IP that has failed. Okay, AI bolted onto that. This is much better than the enterprise software arguments I hear because pharma is such a hard thing for a generalist to get involved in and biotech is more of the beta side. I'm I'm getting more interested in Eli Liy.
I talked about Corning back in uh in the October November period at the same time. The similarities with Eli Liy as a company that was formed in 1876. So yes, it's it's it's on its 150 while the US is on its 250 uh uh birthday. Uh I think people should be spending a lot more time on hey, I want to make money on longevity. I want to make money on all of the problems we're going to have with entitlements, which we're going to run into a major problem. The government is trying to get cost down or prices down.
Eli Liy is focused on getting price down. And you have to remember Jeban's paradox. Right now, I think their stock would be up significantly more if they could actually sell this to more people even though the price would come down.
So, they're working on reducing the cost of all this stuff. They're using the capital they're doing to buy to make AI labs, to do these partnerships, to acquire companies. It's a very very interesting story that is kind of the in my opinion the human software side of what the next decade is going to look like for curing diseases.
>> Now when we look at the technology itself obviously context data all this stuff really is uh is valuable. Um one of the most interesting products that I've seen come out is similar to what we've built with Sylvia on the finance side. Chad GBT came out with they called it GPT health and it was you can put your own personal uh data into this. Now the data is frankly you know what's your heart rate, what's your sleep, you know kind of what I'll call consumer analytics. Um I have seen people do certain uh experiments online where they basically are taking their DNA sequence from like a 23 and me or something and then they're uploading it into an LLM and they're starting to get a little bit more information and you can see that okay well if you're Eli Liy you probably have access to way bigger data sets and you can start to do some of this stuff.
How much of this is uh what I'll consider like consumer, you know, type things that they were going to create.
They're going to create software.
They're going to create that versus this is when I think of pharma, they're going to do drug discovery and be able to create, for example, this like cholesterol shot that uh that everyone's talking about.
>> Okay. So, to answer this, I'm going to actually give you real stories, two separate instances of this in the last three months.
And I'm going to start it off by saying if you haven't did you listen to the Olm podcast this past weekend?
>> I did not.
>> So Gavin Baker was on it and Gavin Baker talked about a situation with a hedge fund manager. He didn't give the name who uh has a child that has I think a rare disease.
Committed his time and money to investigating and trying to find a solution to the problem.
Now, I worked for someone who also had a grandchild with rare disease and it's an orphan disease and it's a very um painful thing because >> it's not a big enough market for people to spend enough money. So, they have to go raise money on their own. They have to go through it. So, I saw this from the perspective of way before AI.
>> Apparently, from this, and I'm probably butchering this, but you guys can go listen to it on your own. It'll fit into the bigger picture of what you asked, which is this hedge fund manager went off and did his own research. And this is the whole point of what AI allows people to do. You don't need to be an expert in pharmaceuticals. You just need to go investigate this disease and go through every potential thing that had ever been tried. Any angle that may work and eventually connected the dots and in the case of this, I don't know if it's completely solved, but let's just say has made huge advancements in in the child's health.
I have personally had conversations and if one of the the the people is listening to this um I'm not going to give your name but came up to me after events I spoke at over the course of this year uh and one of them in particular said we had a child or we have a child that had was having all of a sudden behavioral changes out of nowhere was doing all this investigative work all of the doctors and could not come up with anything. They committed their time. They were using open claw everything to do as much research as possible and eventually identified it as a mold problem inside their house. I've had I've had this exact situation come up twice with people saying it was a mold problem, which is unbelievable to me. The second one was unsolicited after I had told this story, but said, "Oh my god, I just had a friend that had a very similar story and ended up being a mold problem because mold in your house from like a flood, you're not going to see where it goes." So those are investigative work where people actually solve the problem because of the love of their child or relative. So you're going to see a lot more of this and this fits in for GPT health. You're going to have the same situation. I already have done this now. I was already doing this before they put this out there. What I was doing is as I've talked about, I'm focused on longevity. I want to stay the same age for as long as I can because the techn is coming. You mentioned the shot that Eli Liy is involved with with this place they purchased a year ago, Verve. You have to go read. I mean, cholesterol is a really big thing in this country for a lot of different people and now they're knowing what they should go do. So, if you think about the angle I said, we're doing research.
We're trying to figure out how to do this orphan disease. And then you go back to Eli Liy, they're doing the same thing, triangulating on things that they already know about the GLP1s, which have far more consequences in terms of the impacts that it can have for chronic disease. And that's really what we're talking about. So if you want to control your health, input your data. I have my blood work in there. I have all my aura ring data. I have my my um data from my watch. And I want to make sure my blood work aligns with this. So if something changes and it shows up in my blood work and it shows up in this, I have at least some form of real-time information. And if I want to diagnose something, I can just go back and it has all my information. It literally becomes a doctor of asking questions. And so I think people have to um start to accept the fact that between people using it to be investigative, those situations help the pharmaceutical companies that may have the drugs out there because this person is doing work for them >> using AI. For Eli Lillium, for companies that are trying to solve uh problems, they're able to do the same thing with supercomputers now, which is just starting. You're just getting it. One-on-one tutor. Now, super expensive, very difficult, right? Um uh what are how do you find the teacher? All these uh kind of issues. The promise of AI in education is you can create a personalized one-on-one learning experience for the child and do it at scale. So, very, I think, admirable, you know, strategy that people are going after. Um, but that very elusive one-on-one tutoring would be amazing. If you think of health, well, what would be the best way to ensure you're the healthiest possible? Personalized one-on-one experience that your data is used with somebody who is smart, who can oversee your stuff, whatever. Well, what about finance? And so, one of the things that's interesting with Sylvia is that one-on-one personalized insight. We now have the hard data. The more you use it, the faster your net worth grows. So, you start to see this. You say, "Wait a second. If in education, the more you use these this technology, the more you learn. If in health it comes out that the more you use this, the healthier you are. And in finance, the more you use it, the faster your net worth grows.
The like anti-AII crowd, they're going to be in shambles. I mean, how do you how do you go to somebody and say, "Hey, by the way, there's this magic technology that makes you smarter, healthier, and wealthier, right?" And so, I think that there is still this like dominant narrative of like, is AI bad? Is it going to take people's jobs?
Where are the data centers going?
Whatever. But I do think over the next 12 months, you're going to start to see all of these use cases show up where people are saying, "Wait a second, this is actually making my life better, right?" And I think that you saw that with the Eli Liy announcement of, "Hey, if there's a shot that people can take and it is going to positively change their cholesterol, >> Mhm.
>> you're going to have a very hard time convincing people that this technology is bad, right?
>> Let me connect the thread through everything we just talked about for the last seven minutes. So you mentioned financial with Sylvia, you mentioned health, you mentioned education. Those are kind of the foundation of life. Like that's it. Like okay, every single part of what AI does is personalize it. So >> the systems thinker in me, if someone goes, "Oh, one-on-one tutoring is the best way."
Yes and no. It is for sure because you're getting the attention any questions you have. you're feeling comfortable asking all of the inhibitions and all the things that separate kids that I don't want to ask the stupid question. I don't want to do this. The real thing is the teaching becomes customized to you. It's personalized. If you're a visual learner, you learn through that. If you're a music learner, you learn through that. Whatever the case is, you find ways with your child through trial and error and be like, "Okay, they don't respond well to that. Oh, that's personalization." For your finances, same thing. So before I the finances and the health, I want people to think about their favorite mystery show or movie or whatever you're watching a show and you know you're on your game. You're like I want to figure out who the killer is. I want to figure out who committed the crime. We have to watch every scene cuz there could be clues in any single scene. The the way that you become find cancer in your body faster than what a doctor will. They have to ask you questions. You have the data. It's personalized. So, if you always impact, hey, I woke up today and I felt bad. My hip was hurting me. My right leg was hurting me. Um, I did some stretches and those stretches seemed to work. I did some foam rolling, that worked. I took some Advil, it didn't do anything. And you keep track of that every single day for your entire lifetime. And then all of a sudden, 6 months later, you're like, you know what? My left hip is really bothering me. Have I ever mentioned that my left hip was bothering me? Well, they have all of the information that you had. It is impossible to remember those clues.
And once you get to that, it is the only person, not the doctor, because you don't remember that your toe was hurting you on your right side. And so by keeping all this information in there, you're giving it the data to solve the mystery at the end. Without it, I've seen this happen too many times. A very close friend of mine ended up having cancer >> in her hip.
>> Not something you ever hear.
>> Mhm.
>> They caught it at stage three or four.
It was very late. Now she lived, survived, very close friend of mine, love her to death.
>> She went to the doctor and had so many tests done, >> but not looking for cancer. And so eventually, of course, she went to um Sloan Ketering, very different than going out to a Long Island hospital and you go to the right place and it was found. So I just think people should think about their finances, their health that way. The education thing for your kids, you know, that customization, think of AI, think of them learning that way. There's no doubt about the fact that that's the way you're going to learn the most. But for those other things, if you want to improve and what you talk about with Sylvia, everyone can save money on their taxes. Everybody can save money if they have all the data in there and someone is saying to you, hey, you know, if you would have done this, you would have done X. It's one of the reasons why I believe that what will be happening to all people with investing is the agentic world is going to make them move money into there and become less panicky because computers are not going to be making the same doomer stories that everyone else is. Yeah. You know what's interesting is um we're talking about these as silos, but one of the things that I've been very interested in is um people talk about, you know, like the Jarvis, right? Like, hey, how do I get something to control my home or, you know, my my personal assistant, whatever. I do think that there's going to become very interesting things by pulling this stuff together.
So, like one of the jokes I tell with my friends all the time is uh you have to take care of your health cuz you've got to be around to compound, >> right? If you think of Buffett and just how much money he made later in his later years. So like the money and the health and the education like it's all tied together. You call like the foundations um I have not yet seen a product that is you know kind of the like command center for your life with AI across all these products. It's very difficult to build just one let alone you know integrate them all. But man, would it be interesting to know, hey, you're allocating capital to this thing as you're allocating capital. Here's three YouTube videos you should be watching, right, that kind of feed into it. And so it's um it makes me excited because there's still so many things that it's, you know, obvious people would use, but they haven't been built yet. And so we're nowhere near the like limiting factor of innovation or ideas of what can be done here with this technology.
>> So you said something really important.
Um I don't think I've ever talked to you about this. Um, like you've never asked me. You said your father was a construction worker. Your mother and father did not graduate college. Your father didn't graduate high school. How did you end up in finance? What what was interesting to get into it? So, um, there was a book, I believe, by a person named Venita Vancastel. I don't know why I remember that. I could be wrong, but it was a book.
>> You read a book?
>> 1980s. And I didn't read the book. I didn't read the book. I open and flipped through pages. It was an economics book >> that's called reading journey.
>> Okay. I've done a few of them. I am intimidated by this room though. Um so here's the thing. Inside the book there was one single page that changed my life. So my father despite not having a uh even a high school education. Very smart man. Taught me handicapping all kinds of math stuff. Brilliant math mind.
>> In this book it said if you double a penny every day by the end of the month you'll have over a million dollars.
>> Okay. That's all I needed to know. The power of compounding was in my head. So you said compounding. I'm going to say this to every financial advisor. Call your financial adviser. Okay? This is the first time I've ever said call your financial adviser. Ask them a question of, "Hey, what's our allocation to private credit? What's our allocation to private equity? What's our allocation to VC? What's our allocation to bonds?
What's our allocation to the S&P 500?"
The reason I bring that up is I believe that the ability to compound your money is becoming more challenging because of exponential innovation. Right now, we are in a very unique period of time where you're seeing things that are going up dramatically. I I'm going to highlight this weekend how many of the names in my thematic portfolio 100 names over the last 12 months 46 uh 43 of them it might be 46 whatever more than 40 have more than doubled in one year the stock market is up 25% in the last year private equity private credit VC the returns are not there the greatest returns you're getting you can't get into anthropic you can't get into open AI. So all of these small, you know, private companies, maybe you'll get a little bit in VC, but not as much as you would want it. Now, some people are making money in SpaceX. Did you get invited in SpaceX at a very early age?
All of these different things to me are making it more challenging because I think what the wealth managers are going to say is we've been through this cycle before. Eventually, credit will come back, eventually bonds will come back.
The reality is we are in the first inning of the most disruptive supersonic tsunami we have ever seen. And so if you want to compound money, you need to be involved in the AI trade.
It is not weighted in the S&P 500. As I said, it is a very small waiting, which is why you're seeing these massive divergences between the names that I'm saying. A hundred names is not a small index. There's a hundred names across industrials, across chemicals, across energy, across semiconductors. That's up 60% this year while the S&P is up 10.
You need to make sure that your wealth manager is fine. There's no ETFs that exist on this. I think the same thing is going to happen when crypto goes through its period of exponential growth. And once that happens, if you don't have any waiting in that, you need to start thinking about your portfolio from a compounding basis and say, "Hey, are we set up for the exponential world or are we set up for a resumption of the cycles of the past 30 years?" If the answer is that you are benchmarked and you're positioned in things that are producing zero to no returns like bonds have for six years basically, I think you need to start changing your portfolio if you want to compound and keep up with inflation.
