11 confirmed hantavirus infections on cruise ship, Americans in isolation back in U.S.

[00:00:00]developments just into the news room about the Hantavirus outbreak on board of the cruise ship we've been reporting on. Josh Sanders live from the pulse desk with the latest and we understand there are more confirmed cases, Josh.

[00:00:11]More confirmed cases, Janelle, but this morning Spain's Prime Minister and the world head of the World Health Organization giving an update in Madrid.

[00:00:18]The big takeaway is they said there is quote no sign of a larger breakout. Now, we do know at least 11 passengers have confirmed Hantavirus infections. That's including the three people who died. We know 18 Americans who were on this ship are back in the US. One couple is being treated at Emory University Hospital, that's in Atlanta. The other 16 being monitored at the University of Nebraska's Medical Center including one passenger who is in bio-containment uh in a bio-containment unit. That passenger tested positive for the Andes strain that's spread from person to person and has an incubation period of more than 40 days. It's still unclear when those passengers will be able to return home.
