The cash stuffing budgeting method involves physically allocating money into labeled envelopes or binders for different spending categories (such as groceries, subscriptions, savings, and personal expenses) to control spending and build savings systematically. This hands-on approach helps individuals track expenses, prevent overspending, and achieve financial goals like building an emergency fund or completing savings challenges (such as the 5K savings goal demonstrated in this video).

Weekly Budget and Cash Stuffing | 5K SavingsAdded:
Hi everyone, it's Budget with Mama Bear.
Thanks for stopping by my channel. Today we are going to be doing our budgeting cash stuffing video. Um, we have several sources of income that we're going to use for this cash stuffing. We're going to use our weekly money that we've allotted out of our income for the month. And then we're also going to be um taking a portion of my YouTube and Etsy pay to put towards syncing funds.
And then I'll tell you where the other money is going to go as well. So, let's go ahead and get started. All right.
Today is actually Saturday. I like to typically do this on Fridays, but yesterday got away from me. was a very busy day, but I did get a lot accomplished, which I guess is good. So, we're going to get into our budget binder. I did pull my sheets that I need out. So, over here, you can see on my weekly budget, I do my groceries, my wallet stuff. I figure out how much I'm going to put towards syncing funds, and my savings challenges.
This month, I'm actually also going to be putting an extra $321 um of my YouTube Etsy money, thank you very much, by the way, towards paying off my Southwest card, which is what I used when we went to go see my son. And then, um and that's later in the snowballs, but when I add big things like that, I do like to tackle that and put a little extra on those. Um, and then I'm going to put $500 towards savings. That is important to me because of life changes coming up. I want to build up my savings in my bank account.
So, I will chat about that in a few weeks. All right. Then, what I do is I create my cash planning sheet, which I did. And then, let's see. Let me get one of these. I have one of these um little sheets that I take to the bank. I got an a compliment from the teller cuz she's new, not one of the regulars, and she commented on how easy this was for her because I had these. So, if you're a cash budgeter, you definitely need to get some of those. I have them included in my budget planner. When you get that, you get a whole sheet of them and you can print them out. Remember, everything in here is a digital download. Okay.
Then what I do is I use my syncing funds sheet and I figure out what binders I'm going to be putting money in and break all that apart. So we're going to use $500 today for syncing funds.
So let me put that in my little paper holder in the back. So I have that I can see.
Okay. And then I have our money over here. So, first things first, we'll go ahead and tuck our budget binder away because we don't really I mean, it's getting pretty chunky and so I just kind of pull out the pages that I need. Um, I did already put away my savings challenge money. Let me show you what I use for that.
Sorry, I've got kind of a lot of stuff going on. I use this pouch right here.
It has I I created um these little vinyl stickers in pink. You can see I'm better with the money. And it tells me what day I'm using that money. So, I have all my money budgeted for the week. Plus, I went ahead and put my money in for my hop and my wall and my 5K.
So, we're going to need the 5K today. But I also stopped when I was out at the post office. I'm waiting for something from Lisa from She Persisted Budgeting and Savings. So, I went to go check to see if I got it yet. And apparently, I'm not supposed to be getting it till next Wednesday, and I'll show you when I get that. It's pretty exciting. Um, if you look over at her channel, you'll see what I'm talking about. Oh my. So, this package was in there. Look at how cute the butterfly is. This is from Betty from Louisiana. Try not to show her address. And she taped this up super good. I didn't even know. I guess you can. I mean, this is really nice wrapping paper that you can mail a wrapped present like this.
Go figure, you know. Oh my gosh, this is a very sturdy. No wonder you can. Like, this is heavy like a card stock. Okay, I went ahead and took all the paper off.
It was so nicely wrapped. And Betty, I'm curious what's in this cute little box.
That was very sweet of you to think of me.
Let's see. Let's open her up. Oh, so I love unwrapping presents and I love presents wrapped within presents. So, this is kind of what this is.
Super fun.
Oh my gosh. I That's so cute.
You guys remember I showed you I got this and I got the Woody one at the Dollar Tree and I got the bear. I know it's um the one from Toy Story cuz he's pink, you know, but she got she I they did not have this. So they have the pink mini. I love it. So it goes in my little collection.
Thank you. That was so sweet of you to send that all the way over here from Louisiana. Clearly Louisiana knows what's up, right?
Oh my gosh, that's awesome. So, we'll set her over here. I don't know if you can see her, but she's going to look at me. And then, let's see. Have I colored in Louisiana yet? Where is it? Where is it? Yes, I have. So, hey, good job, Louisiana. Thank you.
You guys are very friendly there. This is my happy mail tracker. So, this is awesome. Thank you so so much, Betty.
She's cute.
All right, so in our 5K, I noticed something.
So, last week when I got back from my trip, I'm like, I'm taking my money out of my wallet. I'm going to use that 100 bucks because I didn't budget. I didn't go to the bank. I had already budgeted that money in here. So, I actually have $200 to put in because I had put the hundred in. So, you know what? Instead of holding it for next week, I'm just going to use it and I could use an extra money in this. Like, the faster we can get this 5K done, the better, right?
So, let's see what we have here. Now, if you don't already know, this whole cute little book is from Dawn Empowered by Creativity. It is a digital download, so you can print it out, cut it out, put it together. Anybody can do this. She is also doing a version of it where you use quarters. So, that's kind of fun.
Ah, I just dropped a marker. Okay, so let's see how much we have on this little challenge here. Um, let's see. 10 20 30 40 50 60 5 75 80 85 uh let's see 85 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 is 115.
So let's go ahead and put our 100 look and 15 and then the rest of this will go towards another one.
All right, so 115 to finish. Oh my gosh, we finished one. Yes. Okay, this is cool. Let me color this in. I'll be right back.
Okay, here it is. It's all colored in. I also checked the numbers and this card should be $380.
So, let's make sure when we put this in here that that is what we have.
Hopefully, we have it all correct. Okay.
So, 380.
We've got 100, 200, 20, 40, 60, 80, 300, 20, 40, 60, 70, 80, and 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. What? Okay.
H, let me add it up one more time.
Okay. Yep. It's supposed to be $380. So, I'm going to write that on here and we're going to take this nine and put it towards the other one and we will get it going. Okay. So, this one is done. We don't ring the bell till we finish the envelope. All right. So, that one is done though.
And then let's see. I guess we'll do this one next.
We might have to combine them at one point cuz like we have $9.
Um, actually, let's take the 510 11 12 13 $14 over here and we'll do on this one. And then we've got 20 40 60 $80 to do on here.
Okay, I think I got this. I think I got this. So, we got to do eight of these. So, let me Wait, no. How many? Six of these. Oh my goodness. 20 40 60.
Okay. So, there's Oh, there is another one.
Oh, goodness. All right. Let's 70 80.
There is $80 behind here. You're probably yelling at me like, "Mama bear, it's there." Okay. 20 40 60 80. My goodness. Okay. We need another paper clip. So, let's grab one of these.
All right. So, there we go on that one.
And then, you know what we could do? That's what we'll do. You know, might as well make it difficult, right?
We'll do these fives here since we have $5 bills.
Okay. So, we need another paper clip for you.
And now we have $4.
But you know what I want to do? Let's do this.
Okay. One, two, three, four, five.
And then we'll color in another five.
I know. I could have done tens, huh?
That's okay. It is what it is. We'll get it done. All right. So, that feels really good. It was nice to put an extra $100 in here.
Awesome.
Okay, now let's get our wallet out. So, this is the wallet that I use. It's from the Millennial Dollar. And I made I do put these sheets in here cuz I don't want to show you all my credit cards.
I did make these envelopes for myself. I don't make envelopes in my shop. So, sorry. I'm just maybe not yet. I'm not going to say never, but not yet. So, I've got groceries, um, mama's cash, eat out, and other. So, I usually keep these four in. Sometimes I'm working other ones, but this is pretty much what I these two are always there. This one I throw in. Sometimes I try to take it out and then I realize I need it. So, 200 for groceries. cuz I do need to go to the grocery store today.
So, this will help out.
Mama's cash is getting 40.
We do have some money in here, so I am going to take it out. There's $40.
Okay. Eat out has nava. Nothing. And $40 is going in here.
Other. I'm gonna show you what I do with other. So, um, let's do it right now.
Why not? Because I have it out personal.
I'm gonna get my personal binder. So, I know I'm getting my nails done tomorrow, but I'm getting them put back on. Yes, I can't do it anymore. I used Oh, I just got marker all over my hand.
I did the mom spit on your finger thing.
Um, I used those curve life nails and that glue was so good. And the nails were so good I couldn't get them off.
Like it hurt to get them off with the nail remover the that they say to bite for it. So I just said, "You know what?"
And then they kept popping off when I was on vacation. I'm like, I am just going to bite the bullet and do it. My husband was like, "You need to I almost said mama bear." He doesn't call me mama bear. Steph, you need to go get your nails done. Like it's okay. We can do it. So, it does cost me a little bit more when she has to start from beginning. So, I'm gonna pull out of beauty, some money. 20, 40, 60, 80.
I'm just going to take it all. Um, and then whatever I don't spend, I'll put back in here. So, that's what I use my other envelope for is whatever um I'm going to use those scing funds. Like, if I need to take some money with me, I'll use that. Now, what you could do so you don't forget is let's say I have two things. Let's say I'm going to do that plus I'm going to go I don't know, buy some clothes. I can write with um either a Sharpie or wet erase marker um how much I'm spending for how much I have in the envelope for this, how much I have in the envelope for that. That way when I get back, I know what goes where. Just cuz they're laminated, you can do that.
All right, so that's done.
Let's get these back in my wallet.
So, I don't think I've ever shown that.
I've just talked about it. So, now you see how I do my other envelope and why I have it. Cuz if I just threw that money in here, it would get all lost and I'd be like, "What money was that again?"
There you go. So, that goes back in my purse. I have 10 15 16 17 18 $19.
This is going to go.
You know where I'm going to put this?
Um, where is it? What do I do with it?
Oh, in here. I'm really worried about this as we have a transitioning thing in life that I'll talk about in a couple weeks coming up. So, I'm going to put that 19 in here. So, we can put we could do another five on here. We could do a 10 here. And we'll put the four in the other one. Okay. Let's get our marker.
So, there's a 10 because I have to have this money for my son's wedding. like it's there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
All right.
And then we'll do a five here.
Okay.
And then we'll put the four just loose in here because that'll mean it's for this one. And we'll color in the four there. Yay. Hey, I was able to put more money in here.
And I honestly think, at least for now, I'm going to keep doing that. Okay, these are the cool things about Donna's envelopes is that you can tape them.
And I have so much money in here, it's busting the seams, which who doesn't want to? Who complains about that, right?
There we go.
When I finish the section, I do put it in my high yield savings account. So, all right. The rest of this money is going towards my scing funds binders, which are all sitting over here, the ones that I'm going to use. I'm going to grab the this one here. This is my subscription binder. And I'm going to just put some money into Costco because the Costco is the one that is coming up the um next. So, we're going to put in 25 into Costco.
This is not like money to spend at Costco. This is for the yearly membership.
All right. And then I'll show you how much we have. 20 40 60 70 80 95 $100. So then what I do is I write it here. So today is the 23rd and I'm sinking the money. We put in 25.
So, now we're at 100.
In my budget binder, I do have a um my subscription sheet sheet that says when they're due and how much I have to pay them. That's important to have. All right. And I have them in my subscription binder in order of when they're due. So, once I fully fund Costco, then I can put money into Walmart. Walmart Plus, I should say. All right, let's do priority binder. So, I have two categories in here that I'm going to put some money in. And again, I'm able to do this because of y'all.
Like, I'm able to put extra money into here because you guys are watching my videos. You're shopping my Etsy shop.
Um, you're commenting, you're liking.
All that stuff you do on my YouTube channel really helps my channel. So, thank you so much because it also helps my family. You are awesome. All right, medical 25.
I know today in the mail I saw that there's a bill coming because heaven forbid you go to the um doctor and you know the copay is not enough, right? I had to have x-rays on my hand and my knee.
And now I have to go to a sports medicine doctor. So that's going to cost money. So I got to keep putting money in here. So 100 20 40 60 80 200 20 40 60 80 300 20 40 65 and 50. 365 + 365 + 50 is 415. All right. I might end up getting rid of that eventually because I hate counting in 50s. So, $415, which is great, but I honestly want to get this into the thousand range, but I keep having to get into it.
So, sink um + 25. So, now we have 415.
Now, I need a new sheet. So, I need to print some more of these off.
Okay, so medical's good. We're also going to put money into a big one that we have to do every year, and that is yard maintenance, and that is going to get $20.
So, in the bank, I've got a hundred. Um, for a while, I was just putting throwing 100. Every hundred I'd put in there, but now I'm waiting till I get to the thousand mark, I think. 100 200 3 4 5 6 7 60 60.
So $760.
I'm just going to put the total and then I'll do the rest off camera.
This is a big one, but it takes care of our 2 acres of property cuz why have it? Why have the property if you're not going to take care of it, right? Then you might as well just live in a house that doesn't have property.
That's my whole philosophy. Okay. Um, next one we're going to do is our personal binder. I'm so excited to put money in this cuz I don't put a lot of money into this binder, but I worked really hard on YouTube and Etsy. I think we deserve some personal stuffing.
Okay.
So, hubby every I think everybody is getting 20 here. So, I'll just give you the totals. So, hubby is up to 40.
Okay. 20 for mama bear. So, now I have 20 40 60 85.
Okay. Beauty. We just took money out, but I do want to keep putting money in.
So that's also getting another 20.
Okay, that has 20 plus that money we have in our wallet. Clothes. I never put money in here. That's getting 20.
20, 40, 65.
I do need some more. I don't like to buy a lot of summer things because I'll be honest, our summer season is very short.
Um, but I do need some um more summer stuff. All right. I can't couldn't get that out. Okay. Date night is getting 20. So now we're up to $60.
Woohoo. We can go do something.
All right. Hobbies is getting 20. I keep looking at my sheet, but everybody's getting 20 today. So now we have 25.
This is one that I always try. I feel guilty when I put money in here, but it's for my husband. He'll be fine.
Okay, birthdays is getting 20. We actually have to go to a little kid birthday today, so I'll probably use some of this for that. 50, 70, 90, 5, 96, 7, 8, 9. So 99.
Okay, Christmas is getting 20. We're just going to throw an extra 20 in here.
We also have our Christmas challenges that we are working on. 20 40 60.
Okay. And that is our personal binder.
All right. And then the last one we're going to do. No, it's not.
I forgot to pull it out. We're going to also do our revolving binder.
These are ones that we get into a lot.
So, this is good to put a little extra money into. So car maintenance is getting 20.
So car maintenance has 1 2 20 40 60 83 20 40 60 84 20 40 60 85.
Oh, $55. Woo, that's good. I It took me a second to register how much that was.
Okay, Pets is getting 40. Hank's jingling because he knows I did have to spend some money on Chewy. So, I do need to take some money out of here. 20 40 60 81 and six. 106. Let me tell you what I got on Chewy. So, I normally don't shop on chewy.com cuz we get our food at Walmart, but um I saw these videos like I get sucked into the reals and it was to clean their teeth. you do this spray on their teeth and it's supposed to take all that yucky junk off. And you know, I bought into it. I'm trying it. You do it once a day, so I'm going to do it. And then I also got Hank a new little bed cuz his bed's not looking so great lately. And so I got him a bed on Chewy that was on sale. So it was actually on clearance. All right. Household is getting 20.
So, I'll go back and look at that total and then I'll take it out of here and put it back towards my card. 20 40 50 60 70 85 in household.
Okay. Yard is getting 20.
Surprised we haven't spent any money on this yet. 100 20 40 60 80 215.
Miscellaneous. I never put this in there, but we're going to put 20 bucks in.
All right. So, miscellaneous has 20, 40, $50.
I need to print some new um trackers cuz a couple of these need new ones. And gifts is getting 20.
So, we've got $40.
I do have to give a graduation gift. So, I might be pulling from my mama bear money, too, because I'd like to get $50.
So, I forgot about that.
All right, that feels good to do that one. And then the last one we're going to do is our business binder. I always like to use some of the money from my payout to put back towards the business because that's important when you're a business owner to put portion of the money back into your business. You don't want to go into debt making things.
So, budget with Mama Bear is getting 20.
Okay. 20 40 60 81 20 40 60 80 95 96 196 and this is for anything that I need equipment um printers um supplies anything like that comes out of here. Okay. PO box is also getting 20.
Okay.
So, 20 40 60 801 and 110. All right. We have until next February to save for the PO box. I pay it yearly. Um tax prep is going to get h 20.
I'm missing some money. All right. 20 40 60.
Okay. Taxes. We did put $3 and I think it was $21 towards taxes and I just leave it in the bank. So, what I'll do is I will update my in the bank.
I don't take it out and then put it back in. I just keep it in the bank. I put it in my high yield, actually. All right. I have one, two, three, four, five, and I only have $30. What happened?
One, two, three. I'm missing $40. I think I know what happened to it. All right, so there's my $40.
Okay, now we can put this where it needs to go. All right, memberships is getting 10.
I was so excited at the bank. I don't know if you can even tell, but this is a crispy brand new $10 bill. Like $10 bills have been looking ragged lately.
So, I was so excited to get a few new ones. I might hang on to those like for a long time.
20 40 60 70 $80 in memberships.
Okay. Giveaways is also getting $10.
Okay. We've got 20, 40, 60, 80, 90, 100.
Woohoo! We hit the 100 mark. Um, just so you know, if you haven't already, please subscribe to my channel. I am like this close to 7K. This close. All right, ink is getting Oh. Oh, we'll do two tens.
20.
So, let's put this in here. 20 40 60 70 80 90.
I have three printers.
So, there's a reason why I'm saving money in here for ink. And then I have an ink subscription that comes out of my subscriptions. And then I um on one of my printers, I just buy it when I need it cuz I really don't use that one very much at all. All right. Mama Bear Mail is getting $10.
This is going to be some happy mail that I'm going to try to send out um when we do our reset. 20 40 60 70 80.
Okay.
And 3D printer is getting $20. I am saving up for one. And until I have the money, I'm not buying it.
100 200 20 40 60 80 95 6 7 and 8 298 that's what I said or 88 I don't remember yeah 98 all right so now what I'll do is I will update our trackers and I will make sure everything's all all even and everything is good to go this ended up being longer than I thought so I'm if you're still with me um you know know it. Give me some hearts.
And thank you, Betty, again for this cute little mini. I'll take her little chain off. And she's just so adorable. I like silly things like that. I I do. I do. All right. Okay, y'all. That is it for today. I'm going to try and get this edited and up there as soon as I can. I know it's already Saturday, but I hope you all have a blessed day. And as always, I double love you.
