Last Call for the Crossroads Lounge in Anchorage is on Saturday

[00:00:00]day. This place here been in business for nearly 50 years, but this weekend will be last call for the Crossroads Lounge in Anchorage. The longtime owner of the bar is retiring and has put it up for sale. Lauren Maxwell visited today to chat with regulars.

[00:00:18]>> That sign up there, that is our logo.

[00:00:20]It's on my sweatshirt. Crossroads, where friends meet.

[00:00:25]I like to say it's where friends meet and talk smack.

[00:00:30]For 48 years, The Crossroads has been Fair View's neighborhood bar.

[00:00:36]>> It's not trying to have a thing. It's just here and it's good.

[00:00:41]>> Welcoming regulars.

[00:00:42]>> There you go. It's like a Cheers.

[00:00:45]Everybody that walks through the door, everybody knows everybody's name >> like Rusty Humphre who's been coming since >> 1982.

[00:00:53]>> Wow. Humphre did a lot of the construction here and gave us an interesting fact. This bar used to be a church. It started off as a Presbyterian church in downtown before it moved to Fair View and was remodeled.

[00:01:10]>> But there's nothing here that's new. In fact, pretty soon memories may be all that's left.

[00:01:16]>> There have been a lot of tears here since the bosses announced that we're closing. The spot where people love to gather will soon shut its doors.

[00:01:25]>> The question is now like where are we all going to see each other? Where are we going to meet? Do we need to create a Google calendar document so we can all see each other?

[00:01:34]>> That's tough for the regulars.

[00:01:35]>> I'm going to miss it. You know, it's it is what it is.
