[00:04:11]Why does a prayer that once seemed sweet grow mechanical in the very hour we need it most? Why do meditations that began as a doorway to peace become in time a stopwatch and a scorecard?

[00:04:26]Friends, let the question search you. Is it not because we have smuggled into the sanctuary an unspoken bargain? If I do this correctly, God must do that. If I hold the thought, repeat the word, visualize the scene, keep the breath, surely heaven will deliver.

[00:04:47]That is not worship. That is transaction at the counter of results. Do you see the subtlety?

[00:04:55]Desire is human and harmless enough.

[00:04:58]Dependence upon an outcome for our very sense of safety turns the mind frantic.

[00:05:04]And a frantic mind is deaf to the still small voice.

[00:05:09]The inner ear does not open under a shout. The presence does not answer the clenched fist of the intellect.

[00:05:17]And so when we lean upon technique as leverage, we are confessing separation.

[00:05:23]We are confessing an absence that must be overcome. And the very confession becomes the veil.

[00:05:30]Not because God withdraws, but because we have turned from adoration to manipulation.

[00:05:37]from reverence to arrangement. And in that pivot, the awareness of God becomes thin. Then begins the torment. I didn't visualize well enough. My vibration dropped. I lost my focus. I missed a day. I broke the sequence.

[00:05:56]And with that comes shame dressed in spiritual garments. Competition dressed as devotion. and a lifetime of self- treatment in which the patient, the doctor, and the disease are all the same mind at work. I have watched it. Every failure is laid at the doorstep of a mind that must try harder, do better, push longer, and every success only tightens the leash. Do not slip now or it will go away.

[00:06:27]That is bondage, not freedom. Hear this straight. Talking about God, will not produce the fruits of God. Thinking about God, even affirming God, will not of itself yield the activity of God.

[00:06:49]God must become an experience.

[00:06:52]The kingdom of God is within you, not as a result to be fetched, but as a presence to be recognized.

[00:07:00]We do not worship to get. We worship because God is. We do not sit in silence to compel a change. We sit to behold the changeless.

[00:09:23]All of this is the old self dressed in white still planning to be captain. It is not wicked. It is weary.

[00:09:34]It is not evil. It is ineffective for one reason. It assumes a distance that does not exist and then labors to cross it. Grace does not cross distances.

[00:09:51]Grace is not a better technique.

[00:09:53]Grace is the end of technique as a means of control.

[00:09:58]Grace is the divine activity. Emmanuel, God with us, already in operation as life and law, as presence and power, as wisdom that knows, as love that moves of itself.

[00:10:14]Grace becomes evident when we cease directing it and begin consenting to it.

[00:10:20]Consent is not passivity. Consent is the holy letting be in which the father within doeth the works and the self retires from management to reverence.

[00:10:32]Then manifestation so-called takes its rightful place not as a prize for correct method but as the natural overflow of realized presence.

[00:10:44]Supply appears as the sufficiency of God being God where you are. Guidance announces itself as a quiet knowing before the mind has debated.

[00:10:55]Healing is the dissolving of a picture in the light of what is, not a wrestle with symptoms.

[00:11:03]These are not trophies to exhibit. They are byproducts of beholding.

[00:11:08]Seek first the kingdom. Make your contact with the infinite invisible. And all these things are added without taking thought. Where then is authority?

Not to reach God, but to become aware that God is already here, already the life of your life, closer than breathing, nearer than hands and feet.

[00:15:21]Then teachers become friends, scriptures become windows, methods become reminders, not masters. Call this presence Emmanuel, the Christ, Dao, Buddha mind, the one. Call it the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob if that is your language. Call it the father within if that awakens love. Call it the infinite invisible if that keeps you from form.

[00:22:03]There are not many minds working at cross purposes in a hostile universe.

[00:22:08]There is one mind, the mind of God, the law of being, the intelligence in which we live and move and have our being. As a matter of spiritual truth, you are not a frightened mind trying to reach a distant mind. You are an activity of that one divine mind. And in that mind there is no discord to be patched, no void to be filled, no disease to be mended.

[00:22:37]Not by might, not by mental power, but by my spirit. Then what is the problem?

[00:22:44]It is an appearance, a picture projected upon consciousness, insisting upon reality by shouting its name, rehearsing its history, collecting evidence of its permanence.

[00:22:57]Error has no life of its own. It borrows your attention. The more you take its case and argue it pro and con, the more official it becomes in your awareness.

[00:23:09]Stop your self- treatment. Stop rehearsing the problem even in holy words.

[00:23:15]Stop diagnosing, condemning, pleading and predicting.

[00:23:21]These are all motions in the court of the personal mind. And in that court, the verdict is always anxiety.

[00:23:29]Withdraw the case from that court. Drop it into God's lap. How? Not with a flourish, but with a hush.

[00:23:44]I surrender this appearance into the light of thy allness.

[00:23:49]And then be still.

[00:23:52]Do not pick up the file to check its progress. Do not tell three friends how difficult it is. Do not keep touching the sore spot with fresh fear.

[00:26:30]Who are you in this life of prayer? an anxious manifesttor stationed at the controls, pulling levers, watching dials, bargaining for outcomes, or a son, a daughter of the living God, at home in the secret place of the most high, consenting to the government of spirit.

[00:26:58]As long as you stand as the proprietor of your destiny, asking God to underwrite your designs, strain is inevitable.

[00:27:07]But when you take your seat as the inddwelt one, I live yet not I, Christ liveth in me. The very basis of action changes.

[00:31:12]Be still enough to sense even faintly, thou art here. If you find only quiet breathing, that is enough. If you find only the willingness to be quiet, that is enough.

[00:31:27]Make your contact with the infinite invisible. Then rise and go about your affairs. Between these appointed pauses, learn the holy micro return. 12 to 20 times a day. Stop for five or 10 seconds at the sink, at the door, at the red light, at the edge of a sentence, and turn inward with a simple remembrance.

[00:31:58]No pressure, no stopwatch, a bow of consciousness, a soft inward glance, then continue. These are not interruptions. They are the arterial breaths of your day. The unseen appointments in which awareness is irrigated and the mind is gently reminded who governs. What is success here? Not visions, not fireworks, not a voice speaking in the room.

[00:32:29]Success is a softening, a loosening of the clenched manager, a dawning sense of presence that may be as modest as the shoulders dropping, the breath deepening, the argument pausing before it starts.

[00:32:48]If in two minutes you simply refused to plead and chose instead to listen, that is success.

[00:32:56]If in 10 seconds you remembered not by might nor by mental power but by my spirit, that is success.

[00:33:06]Do not measure your progress by how quiet your thoughts became.

[00:33:11]Measure by your fidelity to the returning. And when the mind revolts, and it will, for the personal sense believes it earns safety by busy thinking, do not wrestle thought. Do not chase it with better thought. Let it come. Let it go. And keep the inner ear open. If necessary, rest your attention lightly upon a single word. Father, peace.

[00:34:50]Three or four set times, 2 to four minutes, 12 to 20 micro returns. No bargaining, no measuring, only the consistent returning to silence. Until grace is felt as government. Until the presence becomes the quiet law of your hours. until life moves without coercion because the one mind is acknowledged within.

[00:35:16]Then you will discover that one with God is a majority and the day under this new government orders itself. Now the question is not whether you can be quiet in a room scented with incense.

[00:35:30]The question is whether the hush can enter the street, the ledger, the clinic, the kitchen, the inbox.
