If You Think You Know Krishna’s Form, Think Again -Truth That Confuses Seekers - Swami Mukundananda

[00:00:00]Many people find it difficult to accept that God can have a personality.

[00:00:10]They find it easy to accept God as formless light.

[00:00:17]People say Shri Krishna, you are just light and you have taken on a form.

[00:00:22]See this body [music] which looks so chikna chupda.

[00:00:26]Factually, it is made of pus, blood, stool, urine, and mucus.

[00:00:31]God's body is not like that. God himself has become his body.

[00:00:37]So, his body is divine.

[00:01:02]The less intelligent think that I, the supreme Lord Shri Krishna, was formless earlier and have now assumed this personality.

[00:01:18]They do not understand the nature of my personal form.

[00:01:29]Such a huge statement Shri Krishna has made.

[00:01:36]It's like telling somebody, you know, I think you are just some light.

[00:01:40]Like people say Shri Krishna, you are just light and you have taken on a form.

[00:01:46]So, Shri Krishna is saying, I'm not just light.

[00:01:49]I also have a personality.

[00:01:53]Many people find it difficult to accept that God can have a personality.

[00:02:04]They find it easy to accept God as formless light.

[00:02:12]The reason for this is their experience in this world.

[00:02:18]They came across personalities with forms and these personalities had defects.

[00:02:25]They mistreated them, they cheated them.

[00:02:29]So, they created the mental association anybody with a personality must be defective.

[00:02:36]And if God is beyond defects, then he must not have a personality.

[00:02:43]But, the fact is that God who has created this huge world, which is full of forms, if we say that he cannot have a personality, then he is not complete.

[00:03:06]For God to be complete, he must have all aspects in his entity.

[00:03:14]Now, are we formless or do we have a form?

[00:03:22]But, who is this we you are talking about, the soul or the body?

[00:03:28]The soul doesn't have any form.

[00:03:32]Scientists have conducted experiments where a person is dying, they put him in a glass case.

[00:03:41]That we hear these spiritual people say when somebody dies, some spirit leaves.

[00:03:48]Let's see if the glass breaks when the spirit leaves.

[00:03:53]So, they put the dying person in a glass case. The person passed away. The spirit left. The glass remained intact.

[00:04:04]Because the spirit is non-material.

[00:04:07]It doesn't require any space to go.

[00:04:11]It is formless.

[00:04:13]That is the atman.

[00:04:15]We You know, in the Jeopardy, there was a question, "Do we have a body or do we have a soul?"

[00:04:22]And all the intelligent people, they said, "Yes, we have a body because we are the soul."

[00:04:28]So, we are formless souls, but [music] we've taken on a body with a form.

[00:04:36]Male body, female body, child's body, adult's body.

[00:04:42]And these bodies we've taken on not just once, but innumerable times in innumerable lives.

[00:04:52]We once had the body of a cat, the body of a dog, the body of a cow, the body of a tree.

[00:04:59]Now we have forgotten, but we went through these species of life.

[00:05:05]So, we souls have been doing this amazing thing.

[00:05:11]Being formless, we've been taking on bodies.

[00:05:17]If we souls can do this, then can the all-powerful God not do it?

[00:05:27]Is it that God says, "I don't have the shakti to take a form?

[00:05:34]So, I'm only formless."

[00:05:38]If you accept that God is sarva shaktiman, all-powerful, then you have to accept that he has the power to take on a form as well.

[00:05:52]So, the difference is that God's form is divine.

[00:06:00]But sometimes this word nirguna is misunderstood.

[00:06:06]Acharya say he is nirguna without gunas.

[00:06:11]That's exactly what I was saying that he doesn't have any gunas in any form. They said, "No."

[00:06:17]Ved Vyasa writes yastu nirguna it yukta shastresu Jagadishwara.

[00:06:23]>> [music] >> Prakritair heyaih sanyuktair gunair hinatvamuchyate. [music] God is without material qualities, material gunas.

[00:06:35]But he has got innumerable spiritual qualities.

[00:06:40]In fact, God has got so many qualities that nobody can put them down in writing.

[00:06:51]There's the story of Saint Augustine.

[00:06:55]He wrote much literature trying to describe the glories of God.

[00:07:03]And one day he was on the beach side and he found one boy filling the sea water in his palm and putting it into a hole.

[00:07:16]He would repeat the process again and again.

[00:07:20]So, he would walk a few yards, put it there in the hole.

[00:07:24]That rose the curiosity of Saint Augustine.

[00:07:28]And he went to him and asked, "What are you doing?"

[00:07:34]The boy said, "Can't you see?

[00:07:37]I'm filling the ocean in that hole."

[00:07:42]Saint Augustine said, "But that is impossible."

[00:07:48]The boy said, "But you are also doing the impossible.

[00:07:51]You are trying to encapsulate the glories of God in your little books. How is it possible?"

[00:07:59]Saint Augustine said, "My God, who is this boy who came to open my eyes?"

[00:08:05]So, Vyasa says If somebody thinks I can count the qualities and glories of God, that person has got a childish intellect.

[00:08:23][music] You may succeed in counting the specs of dust on the crust of the earth.

[00:08:42]This impossible may become possible.

[00:08:47]We had some gopis giving their foot dust today, right?

[00:08:52]The Radha sakhis.

[00:08:54]>> [music] >> You may succeed in counting their foot dust, but you can never count the glories [music] of God. So, he is full of divine gunas.

[00:09:06]He's devoid of material gunas.

[00:09:10]Likewise, when the scriptures say he is without form, what they mean he is without material form.

[00:09:19]Hence, the Mandukya Upanishad says it so interestingly, The Upanishad mantra says, God doesn't have hands and feet.

[00:09:39]>> [music] >> Doesn't have hands and feet.

[00:09:43]And those hands and feet don't have wounds on them.

[00:09:48]When you've already said that he doesn't have hands and feet, then why are you adding that the hands and feet don't have wounds on them?

[00:09:57]It's like saying Ramesh has come.

[00:09:59]Atacha atacha. So, have Ramesh's hands and feet also come?

[00:10:03]If Ramesh means the whole person.

[00:10:06]What they are saying is he God doesn't have hands and feet like ours made of the five elements.

[00:10:16]See this body which looks so chikna chupda.

[00:10:20]Factually, it is made of pus, blood, stool, urine, and mucus.

[00:10:25]The God's body is not like that.

[00:10:28]His body is divine.

[00:10:43]God's body is made of anand.

[00:10:48]In our case, we have a distinction between the self and the body.

[00:10:54]You are the soul. This is your body.

[00:10:57]In the case of God, there is no distinction.

[00:11:06]God himself has become his [music] body.

[00:11:10]So, his body is divine.
