The rate of reaction measures how quickly a chemical reaction occurs by tracking how the concentration of substances changes over time; as reactants are consumed, their concentration decreases, while products are formed, causing their concentration to increase. For a simple reaction where A converts to B, the rate is expressed as Rate = -Δ[A]/Δt = Δ[B]/Δt, where the negative sign ensures the rate remains positive despite reactants decreasing. Reaction rates are typically measured in molarity per second (M/s) or moles per liter per second.

What is the Rate of reaction? #chemistryshortsAdded:
What if I told you chemistry isn't just about what reacts, but how fast it happens? This is called the rate of a reaction or reaction rate. It tells us how quickly a chemical reaction takes place. In simple terms, the reaction rate measures how the concentration of substances changes over time. As a reaction happens, reactants are used up, so their concentration decreases.
At the same time, products are formed, so their concentration increases.
For a simple reaction where A turns into B, the rate can be expressed as follows.
Rate equals negative change in concentration of A divided by change in time. And this is equal to the change in concentration of B divided by time.
Here, A and B represent the concentrations of the reactant and the product, and T represents time. The negative sign is important because it ensures that the rate remains positive, even though reactants are decreasing.
Reaction rates are usually measured in molarity per second, also written as M per second, or in moles per liter per second.
