To be marginalized is to be unable unable to experience the benefits of belonging.

Have you ever felt like you were on the margins?
That that you were marginalized or even worse, disenfranchised?
Maybe pushed to the edges of the group where where you really can't feel like you fully can't experience the the benefits of of belonging. And I'm willing to guess that probably everybody here this morning, I'm willing to guess that you have felt like you were on the margins of some group that you were technically a part of, but you were really unable to experience the benefits of belonging. For one reason or another.
