[00:00:29]I First of all, let me congratulate all of you for choosing Karnataka State Open University as your next educator to complete your ambitions of higher education.

[00:00:42]In our department, we are running BBA program, MBA program, PhD program, and apart from that, two PG certificate programs, three PG certificate programs, namely, PG certificate in Business Administration, PG certificate in Marketing Management, and PG certificate in Human Resource Management.

[00:01:03]So, I welcome all of you to the department, and I really hope that you'll be enjoying your studies in our department.

[00:01:15]Let me introduce my department. We have seven faculty members in our department, I being the chairperson. Apart from that, we have Professor C. Madegowda, a senior professor, then Dr. Chinnaiah, Dr. Savitha, then Dr. Siraj Vasha, and we have two assistant professors on contract basis, Dr. Shamantha N. and Dr. Harsha B.

[00:01:45]Please remember that the department is located in the headquarters in Karnataka State Open University, Mukthagangotri campus, Mysore only. Okay? So, anything, any interaction you want to do with us, you have to reach to us in Mysore only.

[00:02:24]Dear students, let me first address my MBA students here because we are every year we're getting good number of students for MBA program.

[00:02:34]MBA program is a 2-years program. Okay?

[00:02:37]BBA students who are here, you can also listen to this because after doing BBA, you can join MBA. Okay? So, this MBA program is a 2-years program. In first year of study, you'll be studying the common papers. In the second year of study, you'll be choosing a specialization.

[00:02:56]From our department, we are offering eight different specializations such as finance, marketing, human resource management, then operations, that is with respect to the manufacturing industries, then we have tourism, then we have hospital and health care services, and we have corporate law. So, you can choose any of the specialization in your second year of study. That is, when you're renewing your admission for the second year, that time you can choose any one of the specialization.

[00:03:27]In MBA, we is a semester scheme. In that, you have you'll be studying five different papers in each semester followed by a skill enhancement course or an open elective. Open elective in the sense, along with your regular study, you can also study a subject of your interest. Dear students, I think you have already chosen a subject as your open elective from any department such as we have history department, we have Kannada department, we have botany department like this. So, you can choose any one subject from any department as an open elective. In the second semester also, you'll be choosing an open elective. So, five papers in first semester and five papers in second semester will be offered by the department. And any questions if you have related to open elective, you have to contact that particular department only.

[00:04:19]Dear students, first of all, what you have to do is that you should regularly be in touch with the KSOU website. That is very important. If you go to the KSOU website, you will see MBA prospectus.

[00:04:34]You will see BBA prospectus.

[00:04:37]You will see diploma prospectus. So, please please download those prospectus and go through the prospectus because all the information will be available in the prospectus. Okay? Even if I didn't tell you something today, every information will be there in the prospectus. So, that will be a Bible for you for your next course of study. In case of BBA, it is 3 years. In case of MBA, it is 2 years. It will be there. I know you will always have a fear in your mind that you may not be able to reach us.

[00:05:20]Please don't have any such fear because you have to be regularly in touch with the KSOU website. So, KSOU website everything time to time upload more than that.

[00:05:32]So, be assured that you'll be getting all the information through the website.

[00:05:36]In in the from the part of the department, we will be conducting the contact program. So, now six days online contact program for MBA. in these six days we be teaching you the important aspects through online. And we will be we have created a Telegram group for you. Okay?

[00:06:36]After the classes, you'll be having the examination for which you have to pay the fees.

[00:06:48]Okay? Don't uh depend on group for everything. You should always check the website. So, examination notification will be done, exam timetable will be given to you, and even the hall ticket will be given to you maybe 1 or 2 days before the exam.

[00:07:04]Okay? Please remember hall tickets will be issued only 1 or 2 days before the exam. Otherwise, students will be get panic and they start saying, "Ma'am, we have not received the hall ticket." So, don't worry. Just 1 or 2 days before the exam, you'll be getting the hall tickets.

[00:07:20]Okay? After get- getting hall tickets, you have to write the exam at the designated centers, and then you'll be moved on to the second semester.

[00:07:29]Okay? We are going to give you the study material.

[00:07:33]Dear students, please check the study material given to you is like a teacher sitting next to you.

[00:07:41]About teacher property could go into bottom order today materials be written.

[00:07:45]Okay? So, the material will be having blocks and units. So, please go through the study material. You will get all the information, but don't restrict yourself only to the study material. Because if you study the study material, it may get you 60% of the marks. To get more marks, you have to read extra material. Because this is MBA, Master of Business Administration.

[00:08:12]So, you always have to have an eye on the contemporary issues. What is happening?

[00:08:18]Keep the habit of regularly reading the newspapers. Okay? So, you will be well aware of the current affairs. That is very important here. So, and we are giving you the assignment questions.

[00:08:30]Every subject will be evaluated for 100 marks, out of which 20 marks for the internal assessment and 80 marks for the final examination. In the 20 marks, we'll be giving the assignment. Dear students, please see that all the assignments will be hosted in the academic portal. Okay? You have to download the academic platform app, and your assignments will be there in the academic platform. You have to write the assignments by hand, then scan it, and upload in the portal. You Once you go to the portal, you will understand. You'll be getting the step-by-step guidelines on how to upload your assignments. Similarly, soft copy of the study material will also be available in the portal. Okay?

[00:09:19]As I told you in third semester, same like that only, you'll be having five sub different subjects, out of which two will be common paper and three will be specialization paper.

[00:09:31]Adding to that, you will also have to study a skill enhancement paper, which will be given by the department.

[00:09:38]>> [snorts] >> In your fourth semester of study, you have to do a project.

[00:09:43]Dear students, please remember project is a very important component of your degree. Okay? Without that, you cannot get your degree certificate.

[00:09:53]Many students will say at the end, "Ma'am, we didn't know about the project."

[00:09:57]But in MBA, project is compulsory, and you have to do a project.

[00:10:03]To do the project, you have to take the approval first from the department. Um like on what topic you want to do the project. You have to take a topic approval for the first. All the guidelines will be hosted in the academy platform. How to take the topic approval. What are the different documents that are required to take the topic approval. Like you have to select an organization first. You have to select a lecturer as your internal guide. You have to select a person from the company as external guide. Then you have to frame three different topics.

[00:10:38]Send it to us. We will approve one topic and we'll be given give it give it to you. After that, you have to do a project.

[00:10:46]Again, project uh specification will be hosted in the platform. Just go through it.

[00:10:52]In like that only, you have to prepare the report and you have to submit it to the department.

[00:10:57]And there will be a viva voce examination for 50 marks, which will be conducted after your fourth semester theory exams.

[00:11:07]So, please have a be in regular touch with the department. We are having many plans to give you extra knowledge apart from your studies.

[00:11:17]We want to host various conferences, various webinars, seminars, etc. We have a lot of plans.

[00:11:29]Now, coming to the BBA students. BBA students, this is a three-year program for you. Okay? And this is a semester scheme.

[00:11:39]So, in the semester scheme, you'll be having examination in every 6 months.

[00:11:46]In the prospectus, we have given every detail. So, what are the different topics, subjects you're going to study?

[00:11:53]Everything will be available in the prospectus. So, here also you'll be studying five different papers. Along with that, you'll be studying an open elective and also you'll be studying the mandatory paper like Indian constitution, environmental studies.

[00:12:08]Like this, you'll be studying.

[00:12:10]And remember that for BBA students, classes are not conducted by the department.

[00:12:17]Classes will be conducted from the Dean Study Center. Okay? They will inform you about the classes.

[00:12:24]So, please attend those classes. And also, you please go to the Drushya Vahini channel.

[00:12:32]Okay? It's a university Drushya Vahini channel is there. In that also, we have uploaded many videos pertaining to both MBA and BBA. We have uploaded many videos. You can go through those videos. Similarly, we are also having a Telegram channel for the different videos which are hosted there. We will also share the channel link to you. You can also see the videos in the in the in that channel. So, that it will help you to prepare for your studies.

You have questions regarding the examination, marks card, etc. You have to contact the examination section only. Okay? And like this, please contact the respective departments. If you come to us, then it is difficult for us to give you the answers for something which is beyond the overview of the department.
