Because of the political situation in Nigeria, especially in his home region of Anambra state. He believed accepting such honor would be inappropriate while his homeland faced serious problems. In 2011, Britain offered him the same award the second time and again a chev rejected it. He chose principle over prestige. Though he accepted several prestigious international awards including Man Booker International Prize 2007, Peace Prize of the German Book Trade 2002, St. Louis literary award 1999. These awards recognize Achebe's global contribution to literature and culture. Here are Achebe's works. Things Fall Apart 1958, No Longer at Ease, 1960. Arrow of God, 1964. A Man of the People, 1966, and Hills of the Savannah, 1987. Girls at War and Other Stories, 1972. The Sacrificial Egg and Other Stories, 1962.
