Monitoring continues for passengers on cruise ship hit by hantavirusAdded:
Tonight, monitoring continues here in Atlanta and beyond for passengers connected to a cruise ship hit by the Hanta virus. Less than 2 hours ago, we were on a call with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the agency discussing how teams are monitoring passengers for a 42-day incubation period that officially started Monday. Leaders discussed the passengers being monitored here in metro Atlanta at Emory University Hospital.
We're working very closely with Emory to ensure that they have the appropriate disposition. With regards to Georgia and the contacts that are here, we're working very closely with the state of Georgia health department and the local health departments to ensure that they are appropriately monitored.
Officials stress the risk to the general public is low.
