For a grade one sprain, you're looking at about one week before you can return to light activity, and two to three weeks before you're back to full sport. A grade two takes longer. Light activity around two to three weeks, full sport at four to six weeks if you've done your rehab properly. Grade three is a significant injury. You're looking at three to four months before you're back to full competition. And after surgical repair, the timeline extends further. Walking in a boot usually happens around two to four weeks, light jogging around three months. Full return to sport at four to six months. But here's what I really want you to understand. Time is not the only factor. Just because a certain number of weeks has passed does not mean you're cleared. You need to demonstrate that you can do a single leg hop without pain, pass balance testing, and perform sport-specific movements without hesitation.
