# 913 JD disks part 3 There finished

[00:00:00]Hello everybody. Welcome back to the channel. It's uh I don't even know what the day is. 7th, 8th, 9th, something of uh May.

[00:00:13]As you might be able to see the leaves are just starting to open up. First day that I've been able to see any of the actual green leaves.

[00:00:20]So, we're in the 3/4 ton.

[00:00:24]Got the old junky. I don't know if you can see that the old junky trailer. Now you can't see through that mirror.

[00:00:30]Anyway, we got the old three axle trailer behind. Got a big pine tree I took down about 30 in in diameter. He says not a bit of rod on it. He says, "You want it for clapboards?"

[00:00:44]So, of course, I was doing other things, fueling up over in Denmark. I says, "I'll be there in about an hour and a half." So, of course, I hadn't had this thing running this year. Hadn't had the trailer hooked up. couldn't find the ball. You know how stuff goes. But we're headed there and I think we're going to be there maybe within 10 or 15 minutes when I told him we would be. So things are good. Well, we got up there.

[00:01:12]These are pretty good size. That's uh I don't know 36 across the bot. Pretty close to 30 across here. Maybe 32. Um pretty good size tree. It's around 110 120 years old.

[00:01:26]And uh when we loaded, we had to set in the actual street a little bit. Things were a little hectic. So anyway, one of them things I didn't film, but I got four logs. We could have put a fifth one on, but I mean, I'm not overloaded, but it's heavy. Um I don't know what there is here. Probably 8,000 lb, maybe. There's about 1,000 ft on here. And uh you know it's a load. It hauled it fine. Some of these are going to be kind of poor clapboards, but we're going to saw it as clapboards. And these places that go between knots that are like 2 and 1/2 ft, what we'll do is wherever the clapboard breaks, we'll strip it and make it into tomato steaks. So we're going to do the same thing on all four of them. We're just going to pretend they're good clapboards, even if they got a bunch of knots in them. And uh yeah, we'll saw these. We'll do that this summer. I'll get my garden planted first. I'm actually not even going to unload these off the trailer. I'm gonna back the whole trailer over there and unhook it. And uh then we're going to go onto that harrows again. Got to get the Harrows done. Um yeah, I'll show you what's going on over here. We went over to Shane's last night and he gave me a bunch more of these discs.

[00:02:52]Um, some of them are beat up a little bit. And this one here is a little small, but I think we can come up with enough of them that uh we can do the other side. And I'm not worried about some of them little bad spots, but they're uh I think they're going to come out good. He says he's got probably a hund of them.

[00:03:13]And they've shoved up the junk pile with a skid steer and stuff or the big loader and it's all mixed up in there. So now it's hard to find them. But anyway, he we met him for supper there last night.

[00:03:26]And uh he gave me a pile of them. So I'll be working on this tomorrow. I got it all apart on the other side. I haven't turned any of the spools down.

[00:03:36]I'll do that probably tomorrow. And uh yeah, it's one of them things. Well, uh it's funny that almost looks like that was welded, but it's not. That's where it was packed, I guess. Huh. Anyway, yeah. So, we'll get this old girl done tomorrow. I got to go up to Bridgton, get some bolts. I'm missing a few bolts, but probably do that this evening after supper. So, anyway, it's after 5:00. I'm going upstairs and eat. And uh yeah, we'll finish this project later.

[00:04:12]Well, let's scale these here. See what they measure. actually just inside the back. 27 in 260 ft in that one getting all pitch on everything. But huh, that's 27 too. Same diameter. She didn't tape her much at the bottom. So, uh, 27. Yeah. 260.

[00:04:38]So, that's 24 520 ft.

[00:04:42]And this here, which way is the knot growing? This is the top up here.

[00:04:50]So, 520, we got to add 250 to it.

[00:05:01]So, that's 5, 6, 7, 60.

[00:05:06]And this one here, I think we're the wrong way on. But it's another 240. So that's 80. So that's uh what' they say? 2 4 six.

[00:05:20]Yeah, it's over 1,000 ft there. Well over a,000.

[00:05:25]So pretty good uh charge. While I was talking and thinking there, I lost track of where my addition was. I don't do good. I'll just set that there for now because I got to go water. But yeah, so believe it. I'd have to look, but I think it's 4,300 lb to the cord. Takes two cord to make a,000.

[00:05:50]So that's 8600 lb per,000. So there's at least 8,600 lb on here. So it's a uh not a light load, but not a heavy load. It's just average, I guess.

[00:06:05]But he had one more log up there, but I didn't really know how much weight I had. So, I'll add on the side of caution.

[00:06:14]But anyway, I'll talk to you in a while when we get on the arrows.

[00:06:20]As you can see, I've got all the scrapers put in.

[00:06:24]They all came out pretty good. I got another homemade one over there in the back. I got these all greased up.

[00:06:33]Yeah. Anyway, my rig shut off on me for so for no reason, but I've tightened up the collar back there. I got new bolts in the collars up here. Pretty much I've got everything all tightened up on it.

[00:06:47]The only thing that I don't have is this stuff back here that broke last year. I haven't found it out in the field yet.

[00:06:54]There's a rod out there with the ends and a big spring. So somewhere is out there. I might turn it up. I might not. But we're going to hook this old girl on to a here tomorrow and go out there. I think we can go. I'm hoping.

[00:07:14]We've had basically one day of dry weather. We're supposed to get two more days of dry weather and then we're supposed to get two inches of rain, inch and a half to two inches of rain. So, I'm hoping I can harrow enough and get the mulch layer on and get one or two runs of mulch in. Um, even if they're just short ones up top here and then that way I can get some lettuce planted. I'd like to get that co some of that cold stuff done. It's just one of them things. But, uh, yeah, I got all kinds of things to do here. I got to get the truck unloaded. That's still loaded.

[00:07:51]Um, yeah. I got to take care of my bees. I was supposed to do that for five days ago when Andy Mack was here. He was giving me some pointers. He said he'd help me split it. I haven't had a chance to invert that yet. I've been waiting for a warm afternoon and today the wind was blowing this afternoon and I didn't really want to get in with the wind blowing. I'd like to get just a nice calm warm day. But anyway, I uh I went through all of the stuff that Shane gave me. That one there, he didn't realize had a a big fold in it. That probably happened when they pushed up the junk pile. And I got a few more here. Some of them are small.

[00:08:34]Um you know, and busted up a little. I got one though on the outside here. I don't know why they changed it. It's like 22 in or something. It's big and it I don't see anything wrong with it. But doesn't mean there ain't a crack around the eye or something around the hub. Uh I guess the only thing I got left to do is take them nuts back off. I actually bought some grade 8 in lock washers.

[00:09:01]So I went out and got a few of these today so I'd have them. And uh it's funny. I come back and I got thinking.

[00:09:10]Friend of mine gave me this box of nuts here a while back. I thought, "Wow, maybe them are inch, but they're all 7/8."

[00:09:18]All those grade eight washers are all 7/8. I got to go through it, clean everything up, and put it in my bolt bin. Um, $100 worth of hardware there if you had to buy it or close to it. Um, I haven't even been into the bags. I don't know what's in them bags, but this one here is all big big stainless bolts.

[00:09:40]So, brand new.

[00:09:44]Kind of interesting. But anyway, Heat.

[00:10:51]Well, I just took spun them off real quick. There's really no sense put a lock washer on cuz this washer here can turn. But anyway, one of them things I didn't think about that till I would I should have put on a bigger washer and then bent an edge over on the flats. Um, but anyway, I took the flats off of the milling machine. You know, if it loosens up on me, I'll notice it quick enough, I'm sure. So, yeah, I think she's ready to go. Going to let down the jack, clean up my tools, get her ready for tomorrow.
