In NFL trades, the timing of transactions relative to contract deadlines significantly impacts financial value, as demonstrated by Keon Coleman's case where trading before June 1st would cost the Bills $2.1 million while trading after would only cost $1 million, saving $1.7 million in cap space.

Keon Coleman Trade Rumors After ESPN Linked The Bills WR To The Las Vegas RaidersAdded:
The Las Vegas Raiders were linked to Bill's wide receiver Keon Coleman in a recent ESPN article. And today I'm going to discuss why the Raiders could, why the Raiders should in an ultimate at the end of the video whether or not I would want the silver and black to make this deal. Now, speaking of deals, I struck a deal with Price Fix and they're the sponsor on today's show. Make sure that you use code HMA to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. So ESPN ended up recently releasing an article that was titled NFL trade offers for Keon Coleman. Because June 1st is right around the corner and because Coleman and a lot of other NFL players out there, their contracts were impacted post June 1st. I knew that there was going to be a lot of rumors around him and I knew that the Raiders were going to be connected to a wide receiver position. So, I knew that I had to talk about this on the program today. Here's what ESPN had to say on why they did this article. NFL teams are done with the bulk of their offseason moves, but we could still see a few more trades over the course of the summer. Eagles receiver AJ Brown is expected to be up in the Patriots once we get into June per ESPN Adam Shfter.
But who else could get moved and how might those deals look? So, I don't know if y'all remember this. I did a show earlier in the week around AJ Brown and I said, "Hey, the AJ Brown trade rumors are important for Raider fans to pay attention to. Not because I think that the silver and black are going to trade for Brown, but because Brown's the top wide receiver. And when Brown ends up getting moved after June 1st going to the New England Patriots, there's just going to be so many other dominoes that end up falling. And I bet you Keon Coleman is one of those dominoes. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I hope that you hit that subscribe button and watch all the videos in the off season because you'd go, "All right, I remember Mitch talking about it." Back to ESPN explaining the article. We asked four ESPN NFL analysts to pitch realistic trade offers for four veterans. Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman, and then there's a few other players, but we're not talking about them today. Then we had our NFL Nation reporters pick the best deal or pass along all the offers playing the role of general manager for the team that they cover. So I will get into everything that ESPN linked to the Raiders in regards to Keon Coleman. But let's just kind of walk through this and talk about why the hell Coleman's even getting discussed and linked to the Las Vegas Raiders because this is a player that honestly, man, I had some high hopes for. Second round pick number 33 overall coming out of Florida State. And this is why ESPN thinks that Keon Coleman has those trade rumors, which I 100% agree with. Speculation has swirled around Coleman standing with the team after Bill's owner Terry Pagoula voluntarily spoke about him after the firing of former head coach Shawn McDermott.
Pagula said Buffalo's previous coaching staff quote pushed to draft Coleman with the 33rd pick in 2024. Though general manager Brandon Bean clarified that he made the pick. Coleman has yet to hit his stride with 38 catches for 404 yards in 2025, but any hint of a trade has been shut down by Bean as he has said that the team intends for Coleman to remain in Buffalo and that the Bills have rebuffed any teams reaching out with interest. If something dramatically shifted, a postjune 1st trade would create 1.7 million in cap space and under 2.2 million in 2027. I think one of the things that a lot of us got to realize here at this time of the year is there's a lot of smoke and there's a lot of mirrors that are kind of going around and of course any GM and of course any team is going to be like no I would never want to trade away Keon Coleman but I think that they're just saying that because they don't want you to know that if they honestly got a good offer for Keon that then I actually do think that a trade would potentially end up going down. Let's then talk about the postjune 1st and I know that this is the off season. But I will always say that June 1st is one of the most important dates of the off seasonason because of the contracts. Money talks in the NFL.
Money talks on earth. So if you don't follow the money, I think really you're wasting your time and you're not doing the best that you possibly can. If money's not interesting to you, well then I I really don't know what to tell you. But coming up here on the show, I'm going to show you at least the breakdown of the Keon Coleman contract and how it changes before and after June 1st. And you'll see the after June 1st, which is probably one of the biggest reasons why ESPN has linked Coleman to the silver and black. I'm going to try to link you guys up with Prize Pix America's number one fantasy sports app out there. You can get $50 instantly in lineups when you play your first $5 lineup. All you got to do is use code HMA. And I know that the Vegas Golden Knights, they ended up sweeping. And the fact that they were able to get a sweep, that's a big time dub. I'm hoping I'm able to do some watch parties for the hockey Stanley Cup finals. But I also know this. I have been very much so watching the Thunder and Spurs series closely, and it'll be kind of interesting to see if this is a win or if this is a loss.
I'm recording this video before game six, but I'm rooting for the OKC Thunder to get a dub tonight because I did a $5 lineup on prize picks to win 17 if OKC ends up winning in six games. The other big reason why I did this, and I actually said it live the other day on the Raiders report where I said, as a sports fan, the reason why I did this lineup is because at the end of the day, if you give me game seven between Spurs and the Thunder, I'm in. Like, I'm happy that that's game seven. But the only way that I thought that the series would end in six games is if the Thunder ended up winning. So, as a sports fan, I'm either going to win a little bit of money if OKC's wins this game in six or if this thing goes to seven. I don't care that I lost out on a little bit of money.
That's why I play prize picks. And you can also do team picks, which is available on prize picks. You can pick the Knicks, you can pick the Thunder, you can pick the Spurs, you can pick the Golden Knights. Whoever you want to roll with. If you're planning on watching a game, you can do it with team picks on prize picks. So, I'm going to put a link for you guys. It's going to be actually in the very first paragraph of the section down below. You can click on that link to get $50 instantly in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. And if anybody out there wants to follow me on prize picks, you can do so at Mitchell Ren 365. You're going to have some fun if you know ball. And honestly, even if you don't know ball, get a lineup in. I guarantee you you're going to be watching that game a whole lot closer. Price picks. It's good to be right. Let's go to Ke Coleman on these contract details. Now, the Bills eat 2.1 million and save $674K.
If you could add K after that, uh they don't it's not $674.
$674 in the NFL would be like, Mitch, I saved you 20 cents on that order you had earlier today. 674K if traded before June 1st. Now Buffalo, they eat only1 million. So I don't know, $1.1 million difference, basically a vet minimum. And you save seven 1.7 million if he's traded after June 1st. The the bigger kind of implication of all of this is really the the money that is owed after June 1st. And again, there's not a lot of money to be able to dissect here, but if you're the Buffalo Bills and you're looking at your roster and a roster that, let's face it, was kind of weak last season and you really counted on Josh Allen to be able to get you over the hump and unfortunately you were unable to get over the hump even though that Lamar Jackson and Pat Mahomes weren't in the playoffs. But to me, if you can get a veteran better, maybe you decide to do it and move on from Keon Coleman. So, typically on this show, I give you guys my trade ideas because ESPN gave us a trade idea of what they think that the Raiders would give up for Coleman. I'm just going to show you the trade idea that they gave. And once I show it to you, I hope that you let me know down below who you think ends up winning this deal. Not too often do I see trades that say 2028. 2028. Now, typically, you can trade 2027 and 2028 draft picks. You're allowed to do it. Now that the 2026 draft is over, you're also allowed to move on from 2029 picks. But let's just say you're sitting here on your couch. Maybe you're sitting somewhere else. I typically do a lot of my video watching sitting down as well.
Ke Coleman or a fifth round pick in 2028. Who ends up winning this deal? If you think it's the Raiders, type Raiders down below. If you think it's the Buffalo Bills, I want you to type Bills down below. And after this YouTube ad break, I am going to give you my answer of who I think ends up winning this ESPN trade.
The reason why I'm going to say the Buffalo Bills win this trade is because got honest, I know that Keon Coleman's got a high upside, but I don't think that Keon Coleman is a very good football player, and I would rather you invest a 2028 fifth round pick in somebody that I do actually think is good at football. With that being said though, okay, I am at least going to give you guys some arguments of why I would and why I wouldn't want the Raiders to make this deal. But here's why ESPN thought that the trade made sense for the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders don't have a big frame receiver on their roster, which is one of the lone weaknesses of a skill position group that otherwise well constructed.
Coleman would join the depth chart behind Trey Tucker and Jaylen Naylor, challenging second-year players Jack Besh and Dante Thornton Jr. for snaps.
I'll say this, I actually think Jack Besh, because of his fit with this offense, would already be the wide receiver three on this roster. But also, ESPN had this to say. Rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza loved to throw back shoulder balls to big body receivers like Coleman during his time with the Hooers, which is also very true. But I'd also make the argument that those receivers knew where to be and when to be there. Coleman, one of his biggest issues has been he hasn't been running the right routes. He doesn't know the plays and he's kind of been doing his own thing a little bit. But do I think that he would add depth to this team?
Yes, absolutely. And that's one of the reasons that I'm going to bring up here of why the Raiders, if they did end up doing this Keon Coleman trade, why they should do it. And I've done videos this past month, I've done videos this off season talking about Raiders potential trade targets. And Keon Coleman was featured and talked about because he's a big outside receiver. And I thought if there was one thing that the Raiders were potentially looking at this off seasonason, they were looking to add a big outside wide receiver because I do think Coleman would be the wide receiver for wide receiver five on this team. I will say right now he is an upgrade over Dante Thornton Jr. because he's an upgrade over Dante Thornton Jr. That's why potentially like you make this deal.
Like if you're the Raiders and if if you told me, "Hey Mitch, the Raiders just traded for Keon Coleman." I would sit up here on this show and I would tell you it's because they don't believe in Dante Thornton Jr. anymore. Now, he is only 23 years old, just like Thornton. Still has two rookie years on his contract, which obviously is going to be intriguing to some teams that maybe do still believe that Coleman could be a good player. But the only wide receivers on this Raiders roster that are 6'2 or taller. You got Dante Thornton Jr. who is a major question mark. You got UDFA Chase Roberts, UDFA EJ Williams, and newly signed Dariq Young, who I will say is really just a special team's body. So outside of Dante Thornton Jr., I don't think that you have any of your receivers in your top four receivers are over the height of 6'2. So if you do truly want a outside receiver that's got a little bit of size, that could be one of the reasons why you make the deal for Keon Coleman. The other reason why I think that you could do this is because Raiders wide receiver coach Zack Azani has actually had a pretty solid track record with some of the receivers that he's worked with and he's known for being like a hard mother effort which I kind of respect. He's kind of known for being old school and telling you exactly how it is. And he's also known for being a good wide receiver coach in terms of blocking. If there's one area of Coleman's game that I like, it's probably the fact that he is a big body receiver and in glimpses has shown you that he can be a reliable run blocker.
There's other games where it's almost like his awareness is turned down to zero and he's got absolutely positively no idea what he's doing. But because Zack Azani has worked with dudes like a George Pickins, a Courtland Sutton, receivers that are big body guys and has a high pedigree and I think was able to get some good stuff out of them. Could you potentially get some of that good out of Keon Coleman? Because when you look at the past two years, again, I'm trying to be glass half full here because I'm trying to make the argument of why you should trade for him. The target share, the catches, the catch rate went up. Now, the yards per catch drastically went down from 19 yards per catch to about 10 yards per catch. The touchdowns stayed the same. The first downs went up a little bit. Both are 13 games played. Now, Coleman didn't start in nearly the amount of games that he was supposed to start in this past season. Uh again, they they've benched him a few times and had a few injuries from time to time, but I do think because the Buffalo Bills haven't got the most out of him, and because Coleman, I really wouldn't be shocked if he was looking for a new spot. Uh I used to be friends, I shouldn't say used to be. I still follow him on social media. Him and I don't communicate anymore, but Keon Coleman's agent. I don't know if he's still his agent, but I know when Coleman was drafted, he had an agent, and him and I, we would communicate from time to time. I heard nothing but glowing reviews about him. However, that was from his agent. On the other side of the coin of why the Raiders shouldn't trade for Keon Coleman is, do you want football players that you don't know if they love football or not? If you're like Mitch, I only want guys that I know want to play football, eat, breathe, and sleep it. I hear you loud and clear. I don't know if that's Coleman. I spoke to a source that is a friend of mine. He is a part of the Buffalo Bills organization and I spoke with him at the NFL combine and me and another chat sports employee had the opportunity to talk to him about Keon Coleman and essentially I don't remember exactly what he said but what we talked about was that everybody on the Bills team knows that he's a super talented player and there's some practices he looks like the best player on the field and then there's other practices that he doesn't even look kind of interested. I have been told that he's lazy. I've been told that he's inconsistent and I've been told that there are questions of how much does he love football. The other reason maybe why you don't do this is because Keon Coleman is a project player. You already have a project player who's 6'4 or taller who's 23 years old. His name is Dante Thornton Jr. Now Thornton runs a 343 540 maybe a little bit more of a field stretcher. Keon Coleman's more that 46 better run blocker outside receiver. So, it depends really what are you looking for. Are you looking for a blocker, more possession outside guy?
Maybe it's Keon Coleman. If you want somebody that can just stretch the field, maybe it's Dante Dorton Jr. But I will admit, if you got maturity issues and you're getting into stuff maybe that you shouldn't be getting into in Buffalo, how the hell are you going to be doing this uh in Las Vegas? I'm just just going to be real. There are some concerns there. But then again, I don't know if there was any concerns with him at Florida State. And I know that Florida State is a party school. Reed's shaking his head. No. Reed went to Florida State. So, I'll tell you this.
I'll uh I'll take his two cents on that.
So, in conclusion, okay, do I really want the Raiders to trade for Keon Coleman? No. No, I do not. I subscribe to the idea that I want guys that are good football players and I want guys that love football. And Coleman has not shown anything about that. Now, a 2028 fifth round pick, if that were to end up being the trade, I would make my mind and I'd say, you know what, there's got to be a reason why the Raiders are doing this. And if the Raiders end up trading for Keon Coleman, I'm going to try to buy into it and I'm going to try to see why they're doing it and I will look at that glass half full because I think that that's how you should look at Keon Coleman if you make that trade glass half full. But I do not think a move happens right after June 1st. I don't think a move really happens until after OTAAS, which is on June 4th. But our Bills chat sports host told me that he doesn't really think that anything less than a fourth round pick gets a trade done. I am not offering a fourth or anything higher for Keon Coleman. And based on reports, based on rumors, I personally think that Joshua Palmer is a more likely trade candidate. He's been working out on the side. His contract isn't great there in Buffalo. So, I do wonder and teams do this from time to time. They throw out trade rumors just to gauge people's interest. Maybe not in Keon Coleman, but maybe in another player that they're actually trying to trade. And I do think that there is a higher probability that the Buffalo Bills either cut or trade Joshua Palmer.
And that's why a lot of these Keon Coleman rumors are going down.
