The Tool Price Collapse Nobody Saw Coming?Added:
We might be on the edge of the biggest tool price war that we've seen in years.
And it could be epic and it might be starting this weekend. So here's what's going on. Typically in the tool industry and it kind of follows everything else.
There's two big sales events that happen. There's Black Friday and then there's the opposite in spring, often called spring Black Friday or spring fling, spring deals, whatever. They're kind of opposite each other. One's, you know, late fall, early winter, the other one's in spring. Great. And that's the way it's always been. There's always been kind of another kind of thing around Fourth of July. We'd have Memorial Day. We kind of start off a slow burn on the sales kind of stuff and we go through dads and grads and then we get Fourth of July and you get some nice sales through there, but nothing like amazing. And then Amazon happened. Now Amazon is the 800 pound retailer gorilla in the room and they started doing Prime Days. Now this started like in October way back when and it changed everything.
all the other retailers had to switch and start doing sales to combat Amazon Prime or they'd get sunk on those weeks.
So, basically, whenever Amazon says they're going to have Prime Days, it's like another Black Friday. Now, here's what happened. It used to be they they changed a couple years ago, they moved their other Prime Day to summer, midsummer, second week of July. It was very consistent. Not this year. They pushed it and they moved it up to this.
Amazon is now doing it in June. It's going to be late June. I hinted at this before because I heard a lot of manufacturers trying to reach out to me going, "Hey, do you have any sale or any any dates for promotional videos around June?" And I'm telling you what, when a bunch of retailers call me up and say, "Hey, I need this specific day." I know that Amazon's moved their prime days. We just know that's going to happen. All right? And sure enough, Amazon confirmed it. So what we get from this is that now we have Memorial Day and through Fourth of July with no Amazon Prime Days after that. So this is compacted everything which means everyone's now got to move all the stuff they were going to do forward which is like right now we see Home Depot scrambling. They got their Memorial Day going and Ryobi Days are going off right now. They're just starting. Now typically with Ryobi Days there's basically three parts of Ryobi Days. There's the initial launch where you get a bunch of boos. All right. Then the meat of rabbit days happen and then like everything's going crazy and then they burn through all the really hot stuff and then they have a long tail of just trying to sell through a lot more boos or deals and kind of stuff. So right now we're in the first days of it, but it looks like they're actually ramping it up faster. They're going to have more deals faster than ever. But there's other stuff going on at Home Depot as well. It's not just Ryobi days.
There's going to be Milwaukee. They got some Rigid stuff going on. That's interesting to see. It looks like Rigid might be kind of making a comeback as far as being relevant over at Home Depot. We'll have to wait and see. It looked like it was kind of on the way out. But then on the opposite side over at Big Blue with Lowe's, well, they see Ryobi doing that. So, guess what?
Craftsman days are going off at Lowe's.
In fact, if you go in your local Lowe's, you will probably see popups that say Craftsman days. And they're doing similar kind of bogus. A lot of great stuff. Plus, we're seeing sales on other stuff. Of course, you know, I love my client stuff. Uh the Modbox, all the other stuff. Esting, huge wing fan. A lot of deals going to be happening over at Lowe's. Now, they're not alone. We're also going to see stuff at Menards. I heard a leak that they're going to be adding in around Amazon Prime Days. They're going to be ramping up sales plus their standard 11% off rebate. So, you're going to get stacking sale plus rebate. That's when Menard's really kicks is when they they get you to stack the sales plus the rebates. That's when things start to go crazy. Now, everyone else is also going to be following along with this as well.
They they kind of have to. It's not like they have a choice. Even ye old Harbor Freight is at it. They've got their June parking lot sale. And I should let me back it up because not just that, they've got the leak is this this Memorial Day weekend there's going to be a 1020% off coupon. 10% for all the regular folks, 20% off for Inside Track, your Inside Track, right? Inside Track members, everyone, come on, raise your hand. Yeah. 20% off. That's some stellar deals. Now, the June parking lot sale, and we're going to have a video on that that's already been linked. So, the June parking lot sales got some great deals, including like the five drawer cart.
They've got the full bank. They've got the 72 in. But like look at the full bank. Typical sale price. And for the parking lot sale, the sale price looks like it's going to be I think down from 600 to 500. But with that 20% off, and I don't think there's any limitations on it, like brand kind of stuff like there used to be, that's going to take you down to 480, that's going to beat that price. And that's one of the few times you will actually be I mean, it's $20, but for this this cabinet right here, you can kind of see the edge of it there. That that thing right there, that's what I'm talking about when I say the full bank. That thing's fantastic.
All right. I absolutely love that. It's essentially the same as the 42 in or 46, whatever it is, turned on its side. So it take holds just as much but in a smaller footprint which for people with you know limited space and trust me we all outgrow our shops. That's going to be a hot deal. Anyway, stay tuned. We'll have deals and and we'll talk about videos about all that coming up soon.
But what this means is that uh Amazon has kind of struck a match and everyone else has to rush to keep up which means they're not going to get to lolly gag it and just string it all the way through summer. They've got from Memorial Day until 4th of July. And Fourth of July, remember, this is going to be our 250th centennial or whatever, centennial and a bicesentennial and a half. The bad centennial.5, I don't know. Anyway, expect huge deals to coincide with that.
So, if you've been looking to buy something, I think we're not going to see as much as like the super small stuff. This is going to be big item sales. So, if you've been looking for toolboxes, if you've been looking for a grill, if you've been looking for big combo kits, combo kits are making a comeback at Harbor Freight, we got If you're looking to do deep investment in Ryobi, deep investment in Craftsman, uh there's uh there's probably going to be cabinet sales and stuff over at Menard's as well. Again, I don't have a Menards in my area. It's harder for me to keep my finger on that one. But this is probably going to be at least until Black Friday because they'll probably burn through a lot of their inventory.
Now, there's going to be a summer refresh. I know over at Lowe's, there's probably going to be a refresh going on with Cobalt. So, you can expect probably some XTR blowouts. Uh definitely in the regular 24volt stuff. We know that the new Cobalt rolling toolboxes are on their way. Uh a lot of great stuff. So, make sure you're subscribed so that you don't miss out on any of these sales when they happen. But I can tell you right now, power stations, huge hu and starting now, right now, this by the end of this month, by the last week of this month, first week of June, power station, power station, power station, doesn't matter which brand you like, there's probably somebody going to be having a pretty hot deal. Don't ask me how I know. I can't say specifics, but yeah, I know they're they're over there.
Uh, and then, uh, 3D printers. We're probably going to see a lot of sales on 3D printers. Uh, I think we're going to see some some big stuff on Amazon. Go, like my GOI, my GOI lights and stuff like that. We're probably going to see a lot of that stuff. Uh, even in photography equipment, that kind of stuff. For those of you looking to start your own YouTube channel and whatnot, deals are coming down the pipe. And if you've been holding off and wondering, hey, where all the hot deals are, that is probably starting this weekend. If we bring you value, go ahead and chop the old like button, smash that subscribe, ring the bell on the way out. You all take care. God bless. And as always, shine on.
