[00:00:00]It's the start of meteorological summer, but temperatures are way down on what we had this time last week. And there's a a fair amount of rain for many of us as well. There's currently low pressure to the northwest of the UK and a few frontal systems are making their way across the country. As a result, we've already seen a fair bit of wet weather across parts of Northern England, Scotland, and this morning. And more rain spilling in across parts of Northern Ireland, Western England, and Wales as well. Well, more of that to come through this afternoon. The rain becoming quite widespread. Could be heavy at times across parts of England, particularly later on this afternoon.

[00:00:35]Western England and Wales seeing some heavy persistent rain. There will be some drier, perhaps even brighter breaks. But as I mentioned, temperatures way down on this time last week. Near normal for the time of year, albeit towards the southeast. Temperatures here perhaps a little bit higher than average. looking at mid20s perhaps, but that's a marked drop on the mid30s we saw last week. Worth bearing in mind some Irish co Irish sea coastal parts will have some strong gusty winds otherwise the winds look generally light for most of us. Later on we are going to have the heavier more persistent rain over western parts of England and Wales feeding further eastward. So watch out for some intense bursts of rain across central and eastern parts of England.

[00:01:16]Some of that feeding into northeast England and eastern Scotland as we head towards dawn. Elsewhere, a showery theme following in behind the more persistent rain. And there will be some dry, clearer spells around. But uh despite some clearer breaks, whilst some prone spots may just about drop into single digits, particularly your towns and cities, it's going to stay pretty warm.

[00:01:37]Temperatures holding up in the low to mid teens for many of us. So that front that pushes through today, that is going to clear away towards the east relatively early tomorrow morning. And as a result, we'll see the more persistent rain clearing away as well.

[00:01:50]Nonetheless, could be quite wet first thing down the eastern side of the UK.

[00:01:54]Some further persistent rain and actually across eastern parts of Scotland, the heavy persistent rain could continue here well through into the afternoon. Otherwise, we're looking at a showery day through Tuesday. So, some intense downpours quite likely.

[00:02:08]Some rumbles of thunder, some hail mixed in with these, particularly across central eastern parts of England, perhaps also northeastern parts of England. And with that heavier rain over eastern Scotland, that could be thundery at times. The showers less intense further west and actually they're going to be easing a little bit through later parts of the day. There will be some sunshine in between those showers, but temperatures for many similar to today in the southeast a couple of degrees lower. Remember these temperatures are actually about average for early June.

[00:02:39]More showers to come through Tuesday evening, particularly across uh eastern parts of the country. Further west, as I mentioned, they will be starting to ease, but it takes a a little while for them to ease. Nonetheless, there will be some late evening sunshine for a fair few of us to look forward to just if you can avoid those showers. Through the rest of the week, the pretty changeable weather looks set to continue. It will be wet. There will be some intense downpours as well. Watch out for thunderstorms, particularly on Thursday.
