Valve has masterfully turned digital junk into liquid assets, effectively transforming a tactical shooter into a volatile commodities exchange. This update proves that in CS2, the most important skill isn't aiming, but navigating the psychological traps of a manipulated market.

Well this “Changes EVERYTHING”.. (CS2 UPDATE)Added:
So, yeah. If you missed last night's update, well, you're in for a treat. And depending on what your stance is on skins, what you collect, you're either going to love it or completely hate it.
After the highly anticipated release of what was either going to be the armory or the clone stickers, well, we got the clone major update. And it came with some major changes, but no puns intended. This was the biggest and most, I guess you could say, innovating release for major since we first saw the big change back in 2021 with Stockholm.
You can now use souvenir skins and trade-ups. So, you know all those junk skins that you have in storage units from failed souvenir unboxings? Yeah, those are gone. You can sell those for real cash now on any marketplace. And right now, people are buying them. At the time of recording today's video, it's kind of unclear if souvenir packages have been replaced by players being able to create and trade up to their own souvenirs, which, yeah, you can now make any skin any sort of souvenir. Doesn't matter if it's a Neon Rider, a Dragon Lore that's not a souvenir. And if this was the case, it kind of would make sense since cases are gone and capsules are now out. Which, yeah, sticker capsules are no more. This is now Valve putting even more emphasis on the fact that CS2 devs are essentially covering themselves in the case of a backfiring lawsuit. So, instead of having capsules where you unbox them, you now just buy the direct stickers that you want from the shop.
You want a mouse holo, mouse gold sticker, any pro participating in the event, you just go buy their specific sticker, what version you want, boom, there you go. Right now, the skins market and its player base are in shambles. People don't really know how to react. Some players are panic selling, others are mass buying, and others are waiting for the perfect time to strike. Today's video, we're going to break down what happened, what to look out for, discuss the update, and of course, the impact this has had on CS2.
I'd like to give a big thanks to skins.com for sponsoring today's video.
Skins.com is a buying and selling marketplace that lets you buy and sell your favorite CS2 items at a 0% fee. And yes, that's right, 0% trading fees.
Whatever you sell your skins for is what you're going to get. When it comes to buying skins, they offer multiple different deposit options, and even more when it comes down to withdrawing.
Skins.com has also just launched their pro version of the site, which is the most innovative feature on a skins platform to date. You can have one master account while managing dozens, if not hundreds, of different bots to work trades and place buy orders for you.
With a 0% fee, the ability to place buy orders, make instant sales, and trade player-to-player with amazing prices, I couldn't recommend them enough. Be sure to check them out. Links will be at the top of the description. So, let's brief over the update really quickly. The major update, stickers are different, souvenirs are different, there's no more capsules. We're unsure if there's souvenir packages because of that current souvenir packages for previous majors, even if that's Paris, the most oversupplied event in CS history, yeah, those are going up, too. When it comes to selling, people are panic selling the Desert Hydras, their gold air besks, the skins you'd use for a normal trade up for those skins. Maybe not right now, but at some point those are probably going to be more expensive than the base skin. Now, similar to pricing with the terminal or how gloves are priced and how Valve sets those prices, it's the exact same way how things are now set with the major stickers and the brand new collections. You want to buy a Mouse Holo? Well, it depends on how the market's doing. Do people like it? Is the supply low, demand high? Okay, it's going to be a little bit more expensive.
Now, you want to buy this, you add Steam balance to your account. Then Valve has a brand new, completely different currency that we've never seen in CS before just used for majors. Now, on why Valve removed capsules, they've stated that well, it's because players have asked them directly to sell the stickers without any sort of capsule. But, let's be real, like they've kind of briefed over, it's because of the lawsuits.
They've made the change to cases, where they're going terminals, capsules are officially gone. It seems to be souvenir packages are out. What's next? Now, what's interesting is if you were to buy every single sticker at launch, it would have costed most players anywhere from 8 to 15,000 dollars. Now, many players are having questions for if this system is better than it was before. And the answer is, well, it's too soon to tell.
to be honest, for people picking and choosing for what they want, this is a great way to go about it. This is also going to be really good for years down the line when someone finds a really cool sticker that was, let's just say, in the Cologne Major. Well, the supply is super low because no one really knew about it. And this is a way to kind of even things out again. Has this killed sticker investing? Well, it was already kind of dead before, but now it's going to be even more of a gamble and probably much more of a wait than how it was before. Now, on a side note to capsules being gone, sticker crafting is officially back. The rarity, like we just mentioned, kind of feels, well, back to norm, and it kind of feels special again because these stickers are also unique. They're not the same copy-pasta that we've had for the last 6 years. So, all the new skins right now are being pumped like no one's business.
Like we said in the intro, those really cheap blues that are throughout people's inventories and storage units. Yeah, those are now actually worth something.
As it stands for souvenirs right now, at least when this update released, how things have been going and I predict to go in the future, if the souvenir skin is cheaper than the base skin, people are going to buy the souvenir because then it's still profitable. You can still make something off of it. Also, you can really spice things up. Aside from that being a separate reason, you also just have the fact that there's some expensive collections. The Oxide Oasis, Pathetic Fox from the Mirage Collection in 2021, those are going to be going through the roof. Because if you can even have a 10% chance for a trade-up to get the get a factory new standard version of the Desert Hydra, I mean, you just made some fat bank. But people have already kind of caught on to that, and they caught on to it very quickly. Because prices right now for everything, like we just mentioned, but this time aside from souvenirs, are completely insane. This update, for those who don't know, and don't know really how to feel about it, this is really just a trade-up to golds update 2.0. I don't really think right now players see it as such a big problem as much of a big problem as the trade-up to golds update was and how much that changed the market. But as more people figure out ways to one profit, abuse the system, and more supply and demand issues come into play, I'm going to be really interested to see how the skins market plays out in a year's time.
Because of Valve changes, the lawsuits, their comments, the Steam update, a lot of people are still questioning if trading's going to be banned. And long story short, no. Anything this update actually just furthermore proved that they're not going to do anything with trading. But what they will do is make skins so dirt cheap they can all be sold in the Steam market. I mean, right now, for the first time in history, at least in CS2's recent history, you can buy pretty high-tier finishes on some pretty decent knives in CS for under $600, which obviously is a complete game-changer. And because of that, you can sell those in Steam. You can also buy them on Steam. Valve makes a 15% fee, and that's just extra cash flow for them. Now, many people have been making the joke of what's next, the sticker trade-ups? But all jokes aside, this was a pretty insane update that's probably going to change CS forever. We never thought this was going to be possible.
So, what's going to be next? How did you guys like this update? How are you guys feeling? Ladies and gentlemen, stay positive and sexy. I'm out, guys. Peace.
