Summer is the best time to release new music because people listen to music more frequently during this season, creating increased opportunities for playlist placement and discovery; musicians should release music that captures summer vibes, such as acoustic versions for campfires or upbeat remixes for boat parties, and package their music with summer-themed visuals to connect with listeners' seasonal nostalgia and desire for positive, enjoyable experiences.

Why Summer is The BEST Time To Release New MusicAdded:
Summer is the best time to release music. If you're a musician, listen up.
Let me tell you why I personally think that. If you're watching this current, here we are in the middle of spring and summer is going to be here in 2 seconds.
Personally, I had [laughter] a really rough winter, so I'm like pumped for the summer to be here. But, I think that summer is an incredible opportunity for musicians to release their music and capitalize on summer. And I'm going to list a bunch of reasons why. Before I go into the reasons I think that summer is a great opportunity for musicians, let me ask you a couple questions help you start thinking about it in your own sense. What are you doing most during summer? How do you spend your time? How do you Who do you spend it with? What are you doing? Like, where do you listen to music? What music are you listening to? Does it change from winter to summer? Think about these things and then start to think about that with your own music career and your own songwriting and and just take that that information that you just now pondered about, the self-reflection, and use that to songwrite. I know for me, in the summer, nostalgia is super heavy.
Actually, let me rephrase that. I think that in every season, nostalgia is heavy. So, what I mean by that is in the middle of fall, there is nostalgic songs that I go to every fall. In the middle of spring, this Not necessarily spring, maybe, but like more like winter, summer, fall. I have specific genres, specific sounds, specific music and musicians that I go to in those seasons every year on repeat. For example, like I have distinct memories of going to the beach, uh driving out there, and my wife putting on these specific songs every single year. And it's just what we do because it makes us feel like it's summer. So, I think that if you can release music in that that fits that vibe, that you can become part of people's nostalgia, that they hear it once, they love it, and now every single year, every single summer, they put that song on because it creates a feel that they want to recreate every summer. I also think that there's an incredible opportunity for playlists in the summer. People are driving a ton, people are doing things with friends, people are going out on, you know, and and and having parties and barbecues.
And uh first of all, people are listening to music everywhere.
Like you go to a restaurant, there's music. There's live music. There's radio music. There's live music. You go to barbecues, birthdays, the beach, on the boat. Like there's music everywhere. I think honestly there's a lot more music in the summer than there is in the winter. So there there's so much more opportunity for those songs that you are releasing to get played. I think there's also a great playlist opportunity where because people are listening music so often, people that make their own playlist or even playlist that are curated or automatically like AI or whatever they call it, algorithmically made playlist, because people are listening so much more music, you have a great opportunity to get on more playlists. Releasing music in the summer. Now that said, I do think that how you market it, and I have another video where I'm talking about this a little bit more in depth, plays a big role. You know, you're releasing an acoustic version, cool. Like maybe that's like the outdoor summer campfire version as opposed to just an acoustic version. Or maybe you're releasing a remix version. Well, maybe that's the electronic upbeat boat version. Like how you package it makes it a really big deal. Even if you're just posting a video on YouTube like about your song an original song, how you like, you know, how you market and put it out there makes a difference. Are you filming it in front of a campfire? Are you filming it on the boat? Are you filming it on the beach? Are you filming it in your backyard with the sunset? Like all of those things create a vibe that people are going to feel and experience when they're listening to your music.
More often than not, I think that people want to feel good in summer. So keep that in mind when you're releasing music, when you're when you're writing music. They want to feel good. They want to enjoy the summer. They want to have fun. Does your music reflect that? And again, you don't have to fit into this mold. It's just things to think about when you're releasing music. If you're sitting down to write and you're like, "What should I write about today? I don't really have inspiration." Think about these things that fit the vibe of what's coming up in the year. You know, summer, you know, and after summer, fall. Like think about these things and how you can incorporate them in your music and you can kind of cater to the seasons. So that being said, I think summer is an incredible, possibly the best time to release music because again, everybody's listening to music.
and if you're releasing music, you need to distribute your music. And DistroKid, the music distribution platform that I personally use, is having an incredible Memorial Day sale. It's 45% off their musician package. They are an incredibly accessible company at first, like in in general. So, 45% off the incredibly accessible prices is insane. So, if you are not releasing music through them, I don't know what you're doing. You can release unlimited music, you get 100% of the royalties.
They offer so many more things than just releasing music, like this they obviously the distribution, but then things like mastering and helping get on playlists, and their customer support is incredible. So, if you ever have any issues with things, and they help you make album artwork, like the post, like it's incredible. So, if you have not released your music through DistroKid, it's a great opportunity to sign up.
There's a link down below. And if you're already releasing music through somebody else, consider switching it over. It's a seamless process. So, I think with spring here and summer approaching, start writing and start releasing. It's the best opportunity to release your music.
