This is a performative display of linguistic privilege that turns a standardized test into a stage for intellectual vanity. It offers more ego-stroking for the polyglot than actual pedagogical value for the average student.

I asked a polyglot to take the IELTS Speaking test | Polyglot vs IELTS | IELTS Speaking Mock TestAdded:
My name is Nala and I'm 8 years old and I'm another Tik Tocker.
>> You're a Tik Tocker?
>> Yeah.
>> How long you been working as a Tik Tocker?
>> A long time, man.
>> So, it's been like a week. A long time, man.
>> And how many followers do you have?
>> 25,000.
>> 35,000.
>> 25 >> 25,000.
>> Yeah, >> that's a very big channel. And in this video, I would like to ask you to take the IELTS test. Do you have any idea what the IELTS is?
>> No, I don't know. I have never took a test like that before because all the language I learn is only for myself.
>> There are three parts in the hours test.
In part one, I will ask you some questions about general topics. Part two, you will talk about a topic in 2 minutes and you have one minute to prepare. In part three, I will ask you some questions related to that topic.
>> Okay.
>> Are you ready to take the test now?
>> Yeah, I'm ready.
>> I will look at my phone to see the questions.
>> Talk about AI.
>> No. All right. So, the first topic I wanted to talk about is happiness.
>> Happiness.
>> Is it easy for you to be happy?
It can it will be easy for you if you attain wisdom and peace but it won't be easy easy for you to attain happiness if you don't attain wisdom and peace and sometimes people say do not attain perfection but in books the Buddhas uh you the Buddhist teaching taught me that the only way uh I think uh the only way to attain happiness is to get peace and that's all >> what makes you unhappy >> what makes me unhappy is that your behavior behavior like people might be mean, some of them might be nice and the things that make us unhappy is that as others cuz uh if you just help other instead of helping your own self, you will be happy. You will be unhappy cuz your life will will break down into pieces your dream will be will be destroyed. Your dream will you won't be able to achieve your dream if you don't attain happiness and then happiness is the only thing that destroys it. So if you want to be happy, you have to attain peace and liberation.
>> Do you think money can bring happiness?
>> Money, it can bring a little bit of happiness because if you have money, it cannot solve all of your problems. It cannot solve everything we have. If you have money, you cannot get peace yet.
You need peace first and you need uh you have to be happy. And only the only way to get happiness is to feel like you're already happy. Be laugh be happy. Do like that so that you feel like you're already happy. If you are already happy, you can get more happiness.
>> Let's move on and talk about life stages.
>> What?
>> Life stages.
>> Life stages.
>> Do you enjoy being the age you are now?
>> I sometimes enjoy it because if I'm only 9 years old, I am already done graduating. I'm 9 years old now and I'm happy with my life. I stay with my brother. I'm happy with my brother also.
And I'm also happy at my own age because I get to do anything I want and I get to interview other people from different countries even in from France.
>> What do you think is the most important thing in your life at the moment? the most important thing in my life at the moment.
Hard deep question. H that's to attain happiness because attaining happiness if you don't have peace. It's impossible to get to get peace and get to own happiness. Also the important thing is like having my having a happy life for my brother living a good life with my brother and having the best day of my life. That is what is the most important thing. You have to feel the happiness.
And if you feel the happiness, you can be happy.
>> Yeah.
>> It's hot, too. It's a sunny day.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. Now, let's move on to part two.
Huh?
>> Yeah.
>> In this part, you are going to describe a time when you pretended to know something but actually didn't.
>> A time I pretended to know something but I didn't.
>> Yes.
>> So, let me think.
>> Yeah. I get some time to think about that. I actually know all the things.
There's nothing I in my life. I have never pretend that to know what. But I don't understand that. I I understand everything. I know everything because I've been learning when I was so little.
But now I'm I'm already uh I'm already a child. That mean I already know everything cuz I've never pretended in my life. We have to be honest. We have to be we have to say the truth. We have to tell out the truth. Don't say lies.
Don't be a liar. But I have never pretended that I understand it. But I pret but I stay honest and I listen. If I listen to it, I understand it. But if I don't pay attention, I can understand that. And I've never pretended in my life cuz if I want to have fun, I pretend like I'm a dinosaur like that.
>> Okay, let's continue, man.
>> And that's answer your answer to the to the question already.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay, let's move on to part three. What are the common reasons people tell lies?
>> Some people tell lies just to have fun.
They want to get have fun because they think having fun can give you happiness.
We're wrong. If you lie, no one would believe you. Like I will give you an example. A guy, a kid who h who was bored. He had sheep. He had he he had a farm. He had a sheep. But one day he was bored. He said, "Help. A wolf is attacking my sheep." All the farmers came with weapon. They saw no wolf. His sheep was there and they saw the boys sitting there laughing at them. He did this again and again. So that is why the lying is so bad. And at the end his old sheep died to the wolf, a real wolf.
That's why if you tell a lie, nobody will listen to you. Nobody will think you are real. Nobody will think you are telling.
>> Give me a minute. Give me a minute.
If you tell the truth, the farmers will listen to you and will come save you.
But if you but if you lie, you won't be you. No one will come and save your animals.
>> How can lies affect trust in relationships.
>> I think if you tell a lie to someone, they won't be able to trust you. They are scared their whole career will end if they stay with this person or for their entire lives. That's why it can and even careers or even relationships.
That's how bad lies are. And lies can ruin your life too. And if you don't lie, your relationship will be perfect.
It will be stable and your careers. You will achieve everything.
>> How can people learn to address and correct dishonesty in their lives?
>> Correct dishonesty. The only way to correct dishonesty, it's not harassing people in front of the public, but to say you are not allowed to do it. You have to be good. You have to be honest.
If you lie, no one will trust you in the future. You have to give an example to to people that always lie and if and that will work and it will make them honest, not liars.
>> That's the end of speaking test. Thank you very much for your time.
>> Thank you. Those questions might be difficult for children that are maybe maybe young only children that are that are just starting English. The questions are pretty hard but I was still able to get through everything.
>> Which one do you think is the most challenging part of the test?
>> I want can I see and what question and part three it was the hardest of all and part one everything normal like easy but at the end it changed. I I heard the hard question the real questions were starting that's all.
>> Your English is so good. Can you share how you study the language?
>> So I learned it in the TV also in a laptop.
>> Laptop?
>> Yeah.
>> When did you start learning English?
>> When I was 2 years old.
>> 2 years old.
>> Yeah.
>> You studying it own by yourself?
>> Yeah. I learned it all by myself.
>> And you know how to use a laptop at 2 years old?
>> Uh no. I learned how to use the laptop at four.
>> What is the best way to uh learn the language? It's just to listen and learn the meaning of the of the word you're learning.
>> That's it.
>> Yeah, that's it.
>> All right. Thank you very much for your time. That's the end of the interview.
>> You have to go.
Hey, you know Faron?
