It’s fascinating how the pursuit of metabolic perfection reduces us to discussing bowel movements and bony backsides with total strangers. This candid account exposes the unglamorous physical and social trade-offs that clinical data often ignores.

3 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting GLP-1| No One Told Me!Added:
All right, guys, let's jump right into this video. The three things that I wish that I knew before I took my very first GLP-1 dose. I am not going to get into the side effects, the nausea, the anything like that. If you're interested in those types of symptom-related and other things that I found out 2 months on to my journey, check out this video right here, the lessons learned 2 months into my GLP-1 journey. It is right here.
Go check that video out. In this video, I'm going to talk about things that I don't really hear talked about a lot that may not affect you, but that have definitely had an impact in me and my life over the last 10 months. If you are new here, hi. My name is Shayna. I have been on a GLP-1 medication since July of 2025, and I am currently 46 lb down with 24 lb left to lose. So, let's jump right into number one.
>> [music] [music] >> All right. So, the first thing, when I do my injection, I don't care what body part I use, the back of my arm, my belly, my thighs, sometimes sometimes it burns so bad. It hurts. When you do your shot, it can hurt. And everyone has a reason as to why it's burning or why that's happening to me. Oh, you're supposed to pinch. You're not supposed to pinch. Did you take it out of the fridge too soon? Did you not wait long enough? Is it not room temperature yet?
It doesn't matter. It didn't matter for me. Pinch, no pinch, fridge, no fridge, all the things. This part, that part, these parts, this nothing mattered.
Sometimes it just burned. And it just hurt. And there's nothing that I can do about it, and I just deal with it. And I never know if and when it's going to happen because over the last 43 now injections, it happens a lot, but not every time.
So, I just don't know. Everyone has a reason or an opinion as to why this is happening for me, but if it's happening to you or you are thinking about taking your first dose, just know that at least for me, it is normal that when that medicine goes into my body, sometimes I feel every single drop. And I can't wait for that 10 seconds to be over because yeah, it can hurt. It can hurt for real.
All right, let's jump into number two.
All right, number two. Again, this might just be a me problem. I am an apple shape, which means I gain the majority of my weight in my waist and I lose it from my limbs first. So, I've lost a lot of my weight so far in my legs, around my hips, my butt, and in my arms. And with that, I have noticed that sitting down actually hurts a little bit now.
When I sit on hard surfaces, I find myself moving around, kind of doing the little twitch, a little dance because I didn't realize how bony my butt was when I was 45 lb heavier. I did not realize how bony my butt was 45 lb heavier. I was at a game at a high school game, and I was sitting in the bleachers, and I'm sitting there wondering, why are these bleachers so hard? These They've never been this hard before. Why are these bleachers so hard? And it wasn't the bleachers. It was me. Where I lost my weight from, kind of all my fat redistribution or whatever it did, my fat leaving, it came a lot of it came out of my behind, and it hurts to sit down. I am now the person that needs to bring a cushion with me when I go to sporting events because it hurts to sit down. And I did not think that that was going to be an issue. I didn't think about it at all when I started my GLP-1 journey. Okay, number three. And this This is also something that I never thought I was going to experience or have conversations about, especially not in public.
When you start your GLP-1 journey and you do experience side effects because you will experience some serious side effects on this medication, the one thing that I wish I knew before I took my first dose was I was going to talk about my bowel movements in public with strangers.
I have never talked about diarrhea or constipation or upset stomach or indigestion at all with anybody, like ever. But I talk about it so much now, and it just comes out of my mouth normally, like in a regular conversation, and it is so wild. I get into my comment section, and I know more about people's bodily fluids and functions and everything that's happening that's coming out of their behind than I do people in my real life.
You are going to become so much more open with the side effects and the nastiness and the grossness that your body is experiencing that we would never talk about, never talk about with a stranger or anyone. That just kind of stays private. But for some reason, in this small little GLP-1 community, we have found it very comforting to discuss our bowel movements on the internet with strangers.
And I think that is so great because where else are we going to talk about this? Where else are we going to have somebody else that understands exactly what it is that we are going through, exactly what it is that we are experiencing, and trying to figure out ways to kind of fix the problem, right?
We're trying to fix the problem. So, those were the three things that I wish that I knew before I started my first dose. No, this was not a serious conversation, but yes, these are things that I did experience and I am still experiencing. And sometimes we just have to laugh at ourselves. Sometimes we just have to say, this is okay. This is part of the experience. Everything doesn't have to be serious. Sometimes it can be funny. And I just wanted to remind everyone of that. So, if you're not new and you've already taken your first dose, please let me know and let the community know down in the comments, what do you wish you knew that is silly, that is funny, that is weird before you took your first dose that you are experiencing now or that you have experienced throughout your journey. So, if you are still here after hearing my three things, please consider giving this video a like. And if you'd like to follow along with me on the rest of my journey on losing 25 lb on a GLP-1 medication, don't forget to hit that subscribe button on your way out. And as always, stay comfortably classy and confidently you all the time. All right, guys, have a good day. Bye.
