This video demonstrates that two Uber XL drivers who completed identical trips (same route, distance, duration, and passengers) received significantly different payments, with one driver earning $25.99 while the other earned only $20.36—a 27% difference—despite both having similar acceptance rates and driving the same vehicle type. The discrepancy may be attributed to platform algorithms, GPS measurement variations between different phone operating systems, or other factors not visible to drivers, highlighting potential inconsistencies in rideshare compensation systems.

EXACT Same Uber XL Trip One Driver Makes 27% MOREAdded:
Hey everybody. So, this video is going to show you conclusively that Uber pays different drivers different rates. No doubt about it. A very rare thing happened to me on Thursday around 6:00 p.m.
I received a ride request.
I drove to the location.
Another Uber driver was already there.
Um his name is Brian.
He sent me the screen screen grab because of the discrepancy.
So, anyway, >> [clears throat] >> I get there and the other driver is already there.
So, keep that in mind. He's there before me.
Um we sit and wait for the passengers to come out. They both the passengers ordered two XL rides.
And uh long story short, the passengers come out, get [clears throat] into the car.
Brian and I start our rides and we pull off.
So, the ride really wasn't going very far. Let me see.
Okay. So, it was going 12.84 miles.
>> [clears throat] >> And my initial my initial upfront fare was $24.92, okay? So, it gives you a little bit of understanding.
$24.92 going 12 miles. Um when I got the ride request, I was probably I was less than 2 miles away. It was very very close. I think it said like 1.6 miles or 1.
4 miles, something like that. It was very very close.
So, anyway, like I said, we we we both start our rides and we take the exact same route. As a matter of fact, the other driver, Brian, uh >> [snorts] >> it right behind me the entire way.
We take the drive, which isn't that like I said, isn't that long. Let's see.
Uh it says the duration of the trip was 27 minutes and 39 seconds.
And it says I drove 12.84 miles, which sounds about right.
Um you know, we cruise up the road, we drop the passengers off, and after we drop the passengers off, Brian and I talk, and he asks, he says, "What did they pay you for this ride?"
>> [cough] >> I said, "Let me check."
And they paid me a little bit more than what they initially offered. They offered $24, they paid me $25.99.
And Brian says, uh you know, he gets upset.
He says, "Oh my god, they only offered me 19 something, and they paid me $20.36."
So, in his screen grab, uh his screen capture that he sent me, there's a couple discrepancies, which I don't understand, and they're not huge, but the fact that there's any discrepancy makes me really think that um you know, maybe it's different phones that are giving different GPS information.
Maybe it's just the inherent inaccuracy that's built in to the system.
Um which you know, I don't know, may not be Uber's fault. They may in the code, I think Brian's using an Android phone, I am using a Apple phone, and it might be they're probably running off of two different sets of code, and it might be this this discrepancy may actually be um built in to the app itself, because it may provide the most accurate GPS coordinates and GPS data overall, okay?
Um I know a tiny bit about code, so I understand how this works. So, yes, that discrepancy might be within the margin of error, let's put it that way. But, nevertheless, there's a discrepancy, and and that is a problem. Number one. But, the real real question here is why was he paid so much less?
Okay?
I don't know the answer to this, and I'm not going to pretend that I know the answer to this. There could be all kinds of different reasons.
But, it does bother me that A, he was there prior to me, so he actually waited longer.
Okay? When I pulled up, he was already there. Now, in talking, he said that he had just been there maybe a minute, so maybe he was only there for about a minute.
But, it is a real problem that um I was paid more than he was.
And it's a problem in the sense that you know, why is why is Uber doing this?
You know, in talking to Brian, we we have the same acceptance rate.
Our acceptance rates hover like mine when I did this trip was at 41%, and his was I believe at 44%, so we're within, you know, a couple points of each other there.
Uh It it's it's kind of insane. I don't get it. I don't get it at all. He said that he was about two two and a half miles away when he when he got the request.
So, I think I was probably even closer than him. You know, I mean, that's something without doing a screen grab of the initial request, that's hard to compare, but you know, honestly, should that matter? It it it it it would be I could understand if I had to drive 10, 15 miles to get the to the pick up them paying me more, but that wasn't the case.
Okay? That wasn't the case at all.
So, you got to ask yourself, what is going on with Uber? And I can't speak to Lyft cuz I've never had this situation. I I think him and I it was a you know, a happy coincy-dink that we both got a request from the same family.
It was a large family. They were going to a graduate a high school graduation.
And we both got the request pretty much same time, same area, going to the same place. So, we were able to, you know, talk prior to everybody getting into the cars.
And when we got to the location, we talked again.
And I was paid more.
Now, look, I'm happy that I was paid more.
But, at the same time, I'm a little upset. And the reason being is because, hey, I benefited I benefited from it this time.
But, will I benefit from it next time?
Probably not, okay? Probably not. I think that Uber is sending these rides out and trying to get them done uh as inexpensively to you know, the pay to the driver as possible.
And I just cannot fathom, and I know, please, drop a comment. I know what I'm going to hear. I'm going to hear, "Oh, you know, that driver doesn't cherry-pick. He takes everything. And you take less rides, therefore they offered you more rides or they offered you more money for this ride."
Shoot. Man, I mean, I decline a lot of rides. My acceptance rate goes up and down like a yo-yo. I mean, it it And it can go up and down very, very quickly.
We all know this. I mean, in in in a half a day I can go from you know, a 40% acceptance rate down to a 15 18% acceptance rate. And by that evening, I might be back up at 40. Okay, it just depends on how many rides, exclusive rides that I take.
And and that leads me to another thing, and I'll just mention it cuz I do plan on doing a video about this at some point. I think there's two acceptance rates. I think there's one for your direct requests, you know, the exclusive requests, and the trip radar requests. They don't tell you what your trip radar acceptance rate is. So, anyway, um it it just amazes me, and this is absolute proof. I mean, all things being equal, I don't think there was enough of a difference between Brian and I to for me to be paid $6 more than he was, you know? And and that's what it comes out. It's about $5.50, 50 some cents, I don't know.
But, I just don't think there was that much of a difference.
So, go ahead. I'm going to put these both of these uh screen captures into the video, so that everybody can look at them.
By all means, please drop a comment. Let me know what you think. Has this ever happened to you, the situation that is, where you know, you pulled up and there was another driver already there, and you were able to compare notes, and see exactly how much you were paid, and how much the other driver paid, because everything was equal about this ride. We had the same platform, XL. He was driving a minivan. I drive a Palisade.
We drove the exact same distance.
Although, in his it says 12.77 mi, and mine was 12.8 something miles, if I remember correctly. Let's see.
Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do 12.84. [clears throat] Yeah. So, I mean that's probably within the margin of error, like I said before, but I I just I don't see where there was that much of a difference that I was paid that much more money. It says here 27:56 minutes for him.
Uh let's see if I can see it on mine.
Um 27:39 seconds for me. 27 minutes 39 seconds.
27 minutes 50 some seconds for him. 56, I think it was.
Um yep, 56. So, explain this.
I can't explain it. I don't know if anybody else can explain it, but explain this.
And uh let me know what you think. Drop a comment.
Share the video.
Um I'd love for this to go viral. The more people who see this, I think the more educated we all become, and I would love to know what happened between the two of us that I was paid more.
I don't get it.
All right. With that being said, I do want to do one thing.
First, I want to thank everybody for watching the videos and and subscribing to the channel. I appreciate it. I'm a firm believer that the more we share together as drivers, information-wise, the stronger and better off we're going to be in the long run. So, you know, get a group of friends that drive, you guys talk amongst each other, share exactly all your stories, and uh you know, make videos, post videos, post images, screen grabs, all that kind of stuff. We need to educate educate each other.
And the second thing I want to do is give a shout-out to my sister-in-law, Blanka. She watches the channel. She lives in Europe. She doesn't drive Uber, but according to my wife, she watches the channel a lot. So, hello Lenka.
Um that being said, I hope everybody goes out there today and makes a lot of money and has a good time and has a safe day driving. I'll see everybody in the next video. Thanks.
