About Time I Started To Work On This Kitchen! (Garage To Home Series)
Added:Hey everybody, welcome back to the build. Um, I appreciate you watching last week's video. I thought that was a great opportunity for me to help out a friend. Um, if you haven't seen it, you can just go to my channel and look at the last video. Um, but I think it's time to get back to the build. Um, one of the things I did talk about last week was actually um, getting the storage container removed. Um, I figured that it was kind of taking up a little bit too much space for what I actually was using it for. Um, and I did get a few clips of them removing it. So, let's check it out now.
And now that that is out, it might be tough to tell on camera. Um, but I feel like there is so much more room uh in this area back there. So, as you can see, I do have some fence that I did not install uh last fall, I guess it was.
Um, and because I did this row here. So, now that I do have that removed, one of the next things on my list is to actually uh add in that fence uh back there. That way, uh Henry behind me over here uh doesn't get too encouraged to um to sprint straight back. He doesn't normally do it. He's really good off leash and everything, but uh you know, better safe than sorry to uh to get that finish. So, that's going to be happening in the next couple of videos. So, definitely be subscribed if you want to see how I do that. And the other thing I talked about last video was starting to work on the sink and kitchen. Um, I bought some supplies and, uh, I do have a really good sponsor to talk about. So, uh, let's go step into the kitchen.
Okay, so we have everything a little bit all over the place. I had to get it in and kind of just put it down cuz at least this thing I know is pretty heavy.
Um, but I promise everything here can get us pretty far uh, with the sink install. So, obviously you could see I went with a kind of a typical uh countertop that I just got from Lowe's.
Actually, um the main reason why I did that. I feel like the main goal for me would to eventually do some sort of stone, maybe a quartz. Um but I figured for the time being I could go with a little bit of a cheaper alternative and maybe something that looks like uh that quartz or something that I would get. Um if you are a new viewer here, the main goal for me too is to eventually paint these cabinets. Um, I definitely don't want the white with stone look. Um, it's just something that I want to mix up in this space here. Um, so everything that I do install and have ready, um, it's actually not going to be all the way screwed in. So then when it is ready, um, I can take this out, paint it, and then put it back in. Right here, one of the main reasons why this is not actually set all the way back yet, um, is, of course, one, this is actually a 10-ft piece. Um, I did need this miter here, and they only had 10ft pieces, uh, rather than an 8ft. That's actually what I need to cut it down to. Um, but also because there is this little jut out right here. Um, the main reason why this is here, this is actually part of the support for the beam above. Um, I actually just need to cut this miter uh pretty much along this line here. So when I go to put this, uh, part on down the line, um, I'll be able to kind of just slide it into place and everything will be okay. So, it's great. We actually do have everything set up here.
One of the things I need to do is actually cut the back of this cabinet.
The main reason why I want to do that uh is to fit in all of the water lines and the uh wiring for the um garbage disposal, everything along those pipes for the drainage, everything. Uh that way I can get it as close as I can to the wall. And I'll describe why I went with a 36-in cabinet. Um I actually have a little bit of a rework, but I just wanted to make sure that the sink itself would be uh centered on that wall here.
Over here, um don't worry about the peanut butter and the microwave here. Um down below that is actually the sink that I'm going to use. I'm going to cut out a hole here and you know put it into place. Um and that should fit uh pretty well. I'm excited to get that in. And you know it's really going to going to look like um a kitchen a little bit once that's started. And then this right up here, this is something I want to talk about. This is the water drop reverse osmosis water filtration system. Before I get into all the features about this uh water filtration system, I do need to note kind of how amazing this company is. Um they actually reached out to me in March um and wanted to send this out to me to do an ad on it. Um and then I think if you're a regular viewer, um you would know that, you know, I ran into some things where I just needed to kind of save up some money. I needed to get the business going because I put so much time into this. Um, I needed to get my funds back up to be able to purchase things like this and kind of start to knock out this kitchen. Um, and Waterdop was completely on my side. They emailed me multiple times to reassure me that um, whenever I'm ready to do this ad, um, you you can you can take your time.
You know, I even offered to send it back and apologize that I couldn't get it it up in time cuz everything wasn't ready.
Um, and again, they were fantastic and it's it's amazing knowing that there's companies out there uh like Waterrop and uh it's just really cool to work with companies like that. So, not only is it a fantastic product, which we'll go over in a second, um but I just really wanted to note kind of how amazing it was to um work with Waterrop as a company itself.
So, as we unbox this, you can even kind of see how beat up the box is cuz I did have it stored for a while. And uh again, I'm happy to finally break into this and next week have uh properly filtered drinking water. Um and it's going to be amazing to have this down there. Of course, as you can see, we got a power adapter or UV sterilizer. Here is some quick fittings here. Let's get everything else open.
And here is the filter itself. Oh, didn't mean to throw that.
All right.
So again, you can see there's three different levels of filtration here. And this is going to fit perfect right in this cabinet here. And then from there, we have one filter, two filter, and three filter.
And then of course after that, you have the faucet, which I'll talk about in a second. And let's see if there's anything else in here. I don't think so.
But you can see this is packed with really high quality. Yep, that's everything there. Okay, so I just did a quick run through with this thing, unboxing it, and this thing is amazing.
There are so many different ways that the water is filtered. Um, and again, there is a three different filter system. There's a UV light system. I will go over everything here. So, um, again, this is actually a tankless system, which is fantastic. So, you can fit this in a much smaller space. Again, if this did have a tank, this would probably take up this entire uh right-hand cabinet here. But again, I have no problem fitting in a garbage disposal and any cleaning supplies down there and everything. So, once that's in the corner there, um, of course, I do have all of these filters here. This is the active carbon filter. So, there is a little spot here. Let me show you. And they just go into here.
And so, you do that. There's one. Then we have the presetediment and carbon block filter. So again, put that into the side there.
Put it in and turn it up. And then finally, the the reverse osmosis membrane filter. So from there, you then put that in.
And this is pretty much good to go. So assembly is really, really easy. Um, so as you can see here, the water will be coming out of this beautiful faucet. So, I did plan on doing a stainless steel uh like setup in here. So, this is perfect that it comes in here. When this is on, this actually lights up and lets you know even if filters are low or anything like that. And once you turn it on, fresh tap water or drinking water I should say um is going to come out of that faucet uh spout right there. There are also two easy things to set up here.
This is just where the water line will connect on. Um and that goes directly into the system. So, it will funnel funnel down and then shoot out. Um, and then if there's any waste, um, there's also a waist line here. Um, what's really cool is it actually comes with a setup, too, um, to attach that to the pipe itself and it pierces a little hole and that goes right into there, no problem at all. And it is, uh, watertight as well, so you don't have to worry about any leakage or anything like that. Um, and that's pretty much it.
There is a power source and so once that's in, you are pretty much ready to drink water. Um, I'm sad that I don't have this set up right now and uh I know that I'm going to do a second full review on this. I know that they just wanted me to talk about the product. Um, and again, I want to see it in full action. This is a perfect device to use if you want to stay um environmentally friendly and also uh friendly to yourself because uh with clean drinking water um you get hydrated that much faster and you don't have to worry about getting sick uh with anything uh that uh that you're drinking. Also too, like I said, I know that this is not in there officially, but I did want to show you how small of a foot footprint that this really takes up. Uh, this is really equivalent to any of those little metal stackable pullout shelves um that you put your sponges or anything like that along the lines of. So, um, it'll really fit perfect in any, uh, sink. And again, even if it was just this length, so this is maybe a 16-in sink, um, you still have plenty of room over here for anything that you do need. So one thing I think that is very important to note about this filtration system again I can say how fantastic it is but if the numbers uh don't reflect uh then it's only as good as uh the marketing for the product. Um they include a performance sheet so everything that is uh reduced in the G3P800 um and it's pretty amazing again so we can talk about chlorine um there is a a greater than 97.5% reduction um in your typical tap water PFOAs uh 98% cadmium 92.17% selenium 98.47% fluoride 88.23% 23% barium 97.79% and radium is a 97.79% reduction that is from the standard water in the beginning once it went through the filtration system then they tested it again and those are the results. So um if you want to rewind the video and understand that again it is a drastic reduction in all of those things that you really don't want in your water. Um and again this is not just their fact sheet. Uh this is certified by IAPMO uh R&T against NSF and ANSI standard 42 53 and 58. So again this isn't just uh kind of uh madeup facts and everything.
This is backed up with actual data. Um and again when you do purchase one of these it does provide this fact sheet and I think it's really awesome to uh take a look at. And also those are just the main ones uh on the front sheet. If you open this up, there is a ton of reductions of maybe things that you don't even know are in your water. Um, and again, they can test and again make sure that there is that uh 99% reduction or even more than that. So, um, really fantastic. So, why am I talking about this right now with how fantastic this company is? You know, they could have given me a little bit more time, made sure that this was in, but I wanted to help you guys out. So, of course, Amazon Prime Day, if you're not familiar, it is right around the corner, June 23rd to June 26th. And Waterdrop is actually putting their G3P800 30% off. And with my exclusive code that you can see below here, you can get an additional 5% off. So that's a total of 35% off to get clean drinking water. And again, if you have a family or people you care about and even yourself, uh you deserve it to yourself to definitely put um a filtration device like this in your sink setup. And not only that, you can also know that you're supporting a fantastic company uh based off of how gracious they were uh working with me.
So, I'm going to put all of the information in the description and the comment below. I'm going to pin it. Um and make sure to use that code and make sure to get yourself a water drop filtration system on Prime Day. Um and again, as they support me, I hope that you can support them. Um and I really mean it this time. Not that I don't mean it every other time, but again, uh, working with Water Drop was was really fantastic, and I truly can't thank them enough. Uh, I really should have maybe had this done around March or April. Um, and they were very gracious to me and let me push it back until now. However, I don't want you to miss it. So, a great discount. Um, so definitely, uh, use my code and, uh, take advantage of, uh, the sale that they have going on. Okay. So, the first step, what I am going to do, um, is make sure I cut this. So then I could fit it into place and then cut everything on that side uh to make sure it fits as well. Um I'm not sure if this is the exact order a typical um you know installer would do just like most things in this build. Um this is my first time ever installing cabinets or um a countertop, anything like that. Um so in a sense we're kind of winging it. The one thing I do know though is um to use painters tape when I make cuts on something like this. Um, that way it stops any I don't know the right term, but maybe like splintering and and kind of shooting out some of this material that you don't want to be, uh, cut. So, um, one thing I'm going to do is actually kind of finagle things around and I'm going to cut it inside. Um, it's a oneman show right here and, uh, this is pretty heavy. Um, so having to go back and forth between a saw horse just to make, you know, this small cut, um, I figured it'd be, uh, faster and easier just to cut it inside and then clean that up. So, everything's charged. Let's get to cutting.
Of course, when I was cutting that, um, I guess my iPhone storage was full. Um, I do fil film everything on my phone.
Um, so I deleted some stuff I needed to, and now we can get back to it. Um, one of the things I noticed when I was cutting along, um, it was just hard to kind of access that corner. Um, so although I said I did want to cut up here, when it comes to that edge, I do need to cut it off, uh, by, uh, cutting it on the other side.
All right, so we got that piece off.
That actually kind of wasn't a perfect cut when I did that, so I'm going to touch that up once I bring it back up.
Heat. Heat.
Hey, hey, hey.
All right. I obviously did not cut that probably very conventionally, but I am really happy with this line here. And again, using the tape, um, I was able to protect this edge right here. So, the last thing I need to do before we can kind of dry fit it into place, um, is to, uh, take this off and then cut the back um, of the sink cabinet. Um, so then the wiring and pipes and everything can fit.
So now that that is cut, of course, we can uh dry fit it into place here.
And because I made such a big hole, it's not going to be any issue. But again, once this is drilled in, there's going to be a cabinet over top of it. You're not even going to know I I, you know, cut that out there. So, now that I have this here, let me take this stuff off and we will uh test fit the uh the countertop here.
Don't want to hit the camera here.
Ow.
Awesome.
I still have that um lazy susan clip in here.
There you go.
Well, for a first test fit, um I'm pretty happy with this. Uh putting this in here, it shows me a few things. Um, one, this cabinet right here needs to be leveled. Um, and then probably this one needs to be shimmyed around cuz there's a tiny little gap here. But for the most part, um, this is really what the setup is going to be. And at least I can start to measure out and at least fit in the sink there. Um, if you're wondering what these empty spaces are going to be, and again, I do need to move this around a little bit. On that side over there, there's going to be one 12-in drawer.
And then actually on this side uh to make sure that I could center the sink rather than doing a uh 24 inch um dishwasher, I'm actually going to do an 18inch dishwasher. Um you know, if it's just me or maybe one other person, we really don't need that much. Um so I at least want to make sure I do have a dishwasher in here. Um but the sink is going to be plenty big enough even if you want to knock out some some larger dishes that don't fit. So that's the main reason why this gap is here and over there. Um, but I figured what I want to do now, uh, is start to measure out, um, and get this, uh, sink cut out.
So, for the sink I chose, I went with a 32 and a/4 31 and 3/4, uh, in undermount sink. Uh, this is a white quartz, and it's actually pretty light. Um, and one of the things I need to do is, of course, uh, you know, set the template up and, uh, get ready to cut it out. Um, and luckily I already did.
So, this took a lot of measuring, uh, doing things over and over again. I didn't really, uh, film the whole process, but what I chose to do, I looked up the average, uh, distance from the end to the sink. Um, and typically that's between 3 and 1/2 and 4 in. So, I went with the 3 and 1/2. Um, I do have everything centered. Um, I can actually take that off uh exactly uh centered into this. Um, and again, as you can see, I then measured this out. This is properly 18 in. And then over there is 12. Because this is my first time installing a sink, of course, I am missing a few things I need for the installation. Um, of course, one thing I need is a silicone sealer. Um, that will go pretty much on top of the sink. I turn this upside down, put it into place, and then I use brackets and everything. Um, I do have the brackets, but I don't have the correct anchors or everything or anything. And of course, because I am cutting into this, um, I am going to expose the material. So, I also am going to have to uh go to Home Depot or Lowe's, I forget where I got this countertop from, and get the, uh, material that I can then tape on or I guess heat on. I don't know the exact process of doing it. So, I am going to have to do that in the on the interior with an undermount sink. Um, and if they don't have that, I'll probably get something white um that will match and hide that uh little lip there. So, this is again taped in place really well. All I need to do is trace this around um and then I will cut a hole in the middle and then use my jigsaw to go around So, once I got everything traced around, uh, you can kind of see on camera that I had a decent template to work with. And then the only thing that I dealt with is you will see in the next couple clips, um, I would cut a little bit and then I had to work and go back and forth because my battery kept dying. I only have one battery, so um I'd get a little bit done, uh then it would pretty much stop on me and then, uh I'd have to charge it and do it all over again. For me, I wanted to cut it in sections so that way it would not, you know, fall down all at once. Um so you can see kind of a random line here. Like it's just so I could break everything up and make sure uh each piece came out as nice as I could.
All right.
Okay. So, once it's in, it's going to look something like that. But again, you can see it's a little heavy there.
So, again, I kind of got a little idea of what it's going to look like.
I'm actually not going to keep it there, but from a distance, um, it'll look something like this. Um, I'm pretty happy with how everything was cut. And again, I will be able to, you know, match all the seams and cover everything up, sand down what I have to. And then again, let me actually take this out.
This exposed material right here. Um, again, they either sell um what this material is just to kind of drape over um again, or um I can get maybe a white uh material that'll just match that and it'll look seamless. And again, this just needs to be sanded down just a little bit. Kind of tough to go dead straight with a jigsaw. Um what would have been perfect if is if I had another track saw. That's the second time. It would have been great just to put it down and then go right across. But that's what we have. That's what we're going to work with. And again, just want to let you know too, if you uh want to try it out yourself, might as well try.
And uh you know, practice makes perfect.
So, as as long as you're willing to try it, you can always figure it out. So, the other thing, so what I need to do is I'm going to come back next video and properly have this attached. Um I'll probably actually also get uh the 12-in guy here. Um I might have to special order the 18-in. I did make sure that that is actually a thing. Um, and we are on our way to getting some water in this area. Okay, that is about all I have left for uh me to do today. Once I get a chance to stop at the hardware store, I again will pick up that silicone, the clamps. Um, I'll even pick up a faucet and thankfully I already have this filtration system ready to be installed.
So, we're going to knock all of that out next video. But, as you can kind of see, I'm starting to get a little bit of a kitchen in here. Um, I've waited long enough and I'm excited to get this space going. I've been keeping an eye out for things on Facebook Marketplace. I'm still in the need for an oven. Maybe I could even find a faucet. Who knows? Um, but I'm excited to get all of this stuff finished and get that much closer to moving in here. So, if you've gotten this far, um, again, I really appreciate you checking it out. Me kind of uh, in a sense winging it when it comes to cutting this. Um, but I'm happy with how everything turned out and I'm ready for that next step to uh, finally get some drinking water and uh, clean drinking water for that matter. I would also like to get a head start on the back of the fence since I already have all of those fence posts and everything. So, I do want to start to get moving now that it's uh midsummer and I want to sweat um as much as possible. So, thank you so much for checking this video out and thank you so much to Waterrop for sponsoring today's video as well and I will see you in the next one. Bye.
