Well, hello there. My name is Angelica.
I'll be your nurse for today. You're currently in the special care unit here.
We're going to do some very intense work on you. I'm here to take some measurements on your face and just to see what we can do moving forward with the damage that's been done to your face.
So, if you'd like, I can show you some case examples that we've worked on of other soldiers who have had some misfortunate accidents during combat and how we were able to reconstruct their face so that way they can go on living just their strong American life in honor of everything that they've done for their own country. How does that sound? Okay, I'll show you some of the photos.
Keep in mind, they are quite intense.
So, here we have three case patients.
These three patients had some pretty strong accidents done to them.
I'm wondering if it lists.
They were all wounded, but none of them state the reason they got wounded. But as you can see, we've got some pretty severe mouth injuries.
This one had some portion of their jaw, teeth, mandible, chin eviscerated, not to mention the skin around it.
This gentleman here had their chin, jaw eviscerated.
This gentleman had his cheek blown out along with some fragments of his skull.
So these very noble men sacrificed a lot for their country.
Here is them on level one or step one of their reconstruction process.
This is the state in which we were allowed to do a couple of procedures on them. This individual had received two procedures by this point. This individual had a healed condition. So, we were able to just stitch him up. He also was just in a condition of being stitched up. Then, we were able to do an operation on this gentleman to get him to have more of a harmonious balance to his face. This individual had a couple of followups as well.
Um and then this individual had a first plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery um done and this is how he looked. As you can see, there is a tremendous jump between this state and this state, this state to this state, this state to this state. So although these seem quite gruesome and terrifying, your life is most certainly not over. God blessed you with the ability to still remain alive for those that you love and so as to continue living your God-given life. So we are here to make sure that we make you feel accepted, nice and normal again. And at the end of the day, this year happened in January of 1916.
This here happened is his last date in September of 1917.
So nearly two years later, he's got some scars, but compared he looks right as rain. And with all of the honors and dign dign dignities that he earned during his wartime, all the ladies, I'm sure, love him, including and especially for those scarves. And as for this gentleman here, after a couple of surgeries, you couldn't even tell that something had happened to him. He looks quite normal, very sweet. As for this gentleman, he's got a couple of scars there, too. But once again, all of it seems to have remedied itself quite well. Typically, the given time span is about 2 years.
So, with that in mind, I'm going to just examine your open moons. to do. So, I'm going to just grab a couple gloves so as to not contaminate you.
Can't be dirty with anything.
And I'm going to just gently touch you.
I don't want you to feel any pain. So, if you do feel any burning sensations, pain, let alone anything that feels like it's being cut, please do let me know.
I'm just going to go in and I'm just going to feel your skin real quick. So, I'm just going to feel your skin and just kind of see here some of these might need some examination.
Okay.
Okay. Very interesting. Yeah. Yeah. You have a wound that's similar to the wounds these soldiers had prior in the last World War. Don't get me started.
I've got plenty of my own opinions, but a true southern bell doesn't doesn't speak on things that should just quietly fill the air.
Just going to use my little magnifying glass here just to kind of get a good little sack into your skin. I'm just going to give that a good feel, too.
Just continue feeling that.
Yeah. Yeah. The lacerations and the wounds seem to be very on par with what we've already observed. So now I'm just going to take some simple um measurements so that way we can get a good idea as to how we can man you up. So I'm just going to down in my little notebook your measurements as I take them. So, I'm just going to go in and I'm just going to asked to measure the other side of your face which doesn't seem to have received as detrimental wounds.
Perfect.
Thank you for your patience. And there we go.
your compliance. So, now that we've got your measurements all in place, I'm actually going to put a couple of stitches, some staples into your face, just to hold the skin together, much like the first example. Here, I'll show you.
So, this gentleman had some staples done or put onto his face right here.
So, this gentleman right here and this gentleman up here, as you can tell, he had some staples on his face. Some staples on his face. So, likewise, we're just going to begin putting some staples in your face. Then, we'll continue with some reconstructive work. But for now, I'm just going to hold your cheek together.
There we go. There we go. There we go.
It shouldn't hurt much just because once again the nerves themselves were blast away, unfortunately.
So, it should just feel like a very dull pan.
Yeah. But don't worry. We'll be taking good care of you. You worked hard enough and now you just need a little bit of tender care. There you go. There you go.
I'm probably going to need about 16 more staples. 16 more stitches.
So bear with me now. Okay, we're in this together.
2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 My apologies. I added three more stitches just to really reinforce the strength of them and keeping it together.
So for the next couple of months, you'll have these stitches in place, but once again, you're allowed to use free use of this entire facility. We've got plenty of games, plenty of activities, plenty of shows for you to attend.
All of the soldiers here are either healing or recovering so they all understand your condition.
And in a couple of months time, we can begin some reconstructive surgeries.
But until then, I hope you feel very taken care of and very dashing and handsome because for all of your service, you are a very noble person, very noble man. So, for now, I suppose I hope you get a good night's rest and I hope you take care.
