TMJ symptoms such as jaw clicking, popping, and tightness are often caused by tension and misalignment in the upper cervical spine and surrounding muscles, rather than the jaw joint itself; addressing the neck and upper back through chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue release can resolve jaw issues by releasing the muscle tension that pulls the jaw out of proper alignment.

Jaw Clicking? This Is the Real Cause | Best Chiropractor in Los AngelesAdded:
That's good.
Good.
Good.
I saw your TMJ video.
So, I had like a little cracking here, but you know.
And a lot of tension here. And then I was stretching doing like yoga yesterday and I felt kind of like On the left trap?
>> here. Uh-huh.
Um but yeah, just like a lot of pressure. Here, right? Mhm. So, a lot of times what you're talking about, this will definitely go into your neck and upper back and mess with your jaw, yeah.
So, for us when we do TMJ treatments, we work on the neck, upper back, as and if you do need it, we'll work on the jaw, too. Hopefully, just the upper back stuff resolves the jaw stuff, but if you feel that not, Yeah. that's probably where it's all coming from.
So, let's uh let's put this down. Let's scrape that out.
Any like accidents or injuries or surgery since I last saw you? Um no.
Okay. Just bunch of yoga and stuff. Yeah. And maybe like sleeping like sideways kind of funny.
>> Like face down, you know, with the Yeah, don't do that.
So, let's put this to the side. So, let's scrape this out.
How's it feeling? Ooh.
Big knot? Yeah.
>> Yeah. So, we'll take that and we'll take it all the way up to the side here.
And then we do a little bit here.
I don't know if the mic can hear that crunchy.
Wow.
Let's do a little bit here, too.
Is that like really bad? Yeah, it's pretty knotted up, so it makes sense why you're getting it on your left side.
And like do you chew gum or anything like that?
>> No, actually. Yeah, sometimes that cause that or if you chew primarily on one side.
Yeah.
Let's just get this.
And then let's do the other side, too.
Okay, so let's just get this.
>> No.
If you want uh go and turn around face me this way.
On this side? Yeah.
So move this to the side.
Stay there. There you go.
Is it normally worse like on one side?
Yeah, generally TMJ you feel it on one side, the especially the cracking and clicking part.
>> Mhm.
Or you just feel it a little on one side, the pain and discomfort.
And then over time the other side will compensate.
And then you'll feel it on both.
This is what dreams are made of.
So it goes to the neck and then the face? So this muscle goes all the way up. I'm following it, it goes to here and then it'll pull your like C1 out, the top part of your neck out and it'll affect the jaw or it'll just pull down on the muscles here and not let your jaw open all the way.
There you go.
Okay.
Okay, so for your jaw stuff, open your mouth.
Close.
Open.
You feel popping here, popping here now.
Popping here. It's crunchy here, but open again.
Yeah, they both slip out. So, your jaw's opening and open one more time. See the chin? It goes to her right. So, this side's actually tighter for you.
So, this side's tighter and it's pulling your jaw to your right and it's popping this one out. That's why you feel the crunchy on this side.
So, you we loosen this side up. So, you relax.
You feel that knot there? Mhm. So, this is tighter. So, when you open it's not allowing you to fully open, so it's pulling your jaw to your right and it's popping this jaw out on this side.
So, we're going to loosen this up and then we'll see if we need to pop this back in.
Okay, here.
So, we're going to scrape it and then this has some uh microcurrent with it, too. So, it's like a stem.
You feel it? Mhm.
Open your mouth just a little bit. There you go.
You feel this knot right here? Mhm. So, I'm trying to loosen that up.
And then you actually have a little disc in between your jaw, like a little rubbery cushiony thing that slips out sometimes. Mhm. Yours on this one slipped a little bit forward. You can feel it. So, I'm going to try to push it back in.
Yeah, this is not always the best feeling.
Okay. See how it feels now?
Looser? Mhm. Good.
And then It feels a little bit different, too. Yeah.
Okay, so let me put this away.
Now on this side So we're going to adjust the other side, okay?
So open your mouth.
Close. Open.
It's right there.
Open again.
Yeah, that popping out right there.
Okay.
Open your mouth a little bit, little bit, little bit more, right there. It's going to do like a like a click, okay?
One more time, do it again.
Do it again.
Okay. Now open all the way, see how it feels.
Better? It's gone, right? Yeah.
Yeah.
>> Complete on this side a little bit there.
Um if I go like all the way out Let me do a few more.
Okay, try.
Better?
Mhm.
>> There you go. Yeah. So jaws realigned, muscles loosened up. Let me do your do your Let me do your adjustments, too.
It'll make you feel even better. Go face up.
Lay on your back, head here. Oh.
There you go.
Let me take these off.
>> Oh, yeah.
Scoot down just a little bit toward your feet. Good. Stay right there.
Relax your neck for me.
Oh.
No screaming this side. It's okay. Tilt your ear.
That was good.
And then on your side, face me this way.
Let's just do your old back.
This way? Yeah. Bend here, here. Relax your shoulder back.
Good. Same thing other side.
Here, here, here.
And here. relax the shoulder.
Good.
And now go face down. Let's see if there's anything anything else left for you.
There you go. Thank you.
I got that there, so let's see if there's anything here.
Deep breath in.
Let it all out.
Good.
Okay, let's see how you feel.
I'm alive.
Sure?
Oh, yeah.
Feels good? Mhm. Shoulder's feeling better? Mhm. All right, good. Yeah, thank you.
