The fast food industry is experiencing a significant decline in 2026, with major chains like Wendy's, Domino's, and Papa John's closing hundreds of locations due to rising operational costs, including increased labor wages and inflation-driven ingredient prices. These restaurants are responding by reducing food quality—removing ingredients like sea salt from fries and changing recipes to cut costs—which has led to customer dissatisfaction and declining sales. The industry faces additional pressure from third-party delivery apps taking large margins and competition from grocery stores offering similar prepared foods at lower prices. This demonstrates how economic pressures force businesses to make trade-offs between quality and cost, ultimately affecting consumer satisfaction and business sustainability.

Cost Of Living Destroying Fast Food Industry | Fast Food Collapsing | Wendy's, Papa Johns, ChipotleAdded:
Hey, people are surprised that some of these low-quality restaurants are actually shutting down. Hmm. You will not believe the restaurants that are closing in 2026.
Domino's Pizza, closing 250 locations, filing for bankruptcy chapter 11.
Wendy's, closing three to 600, 300 to 600 locations. Popeyes, 136 location.
Papa John's, 300 locations, which makes me happy cuz I don't like Papa John's.
Denny's, 150 locations. Red Lobster, 100 locations. Red Robin, 70 locations.
Pizza Hut, 250 locations. Smokey Bones, never heard of it, 120 locations. Now, the reason I'm telling you this is because those are all jobs that will be lost.
That is over almost 3,000 restaurants being closed.
>> Wendy's is closing over 500 locations, so I'm pulling up to see why. Why does nobody want to eat at Wendy's anymore?
Hey, I need you guys to like, follow, subscribe. Hit the hit the ring the the bell so that when I release a video, you get it.
And then go to the description below, and if you want to learn how to monetize your YouTube channel in 60 days, I'll show you how I did it. It's right down.
The link link is below. And for any reason you may be thinking about moving to Georgia, if you are, the relocation guide is below, and that's absolutely free.
Let's get back to the video. I think that this is a Wendy's looking like fresh food. Hi, can I have the $6 Biggie Bag? I haven't been to a Wendy's in a minute, so I remember when they changed their barbecue sauce, and that's when I stopped coming here, because why would y'all do that? Here's the spicy nugs with the barbecue. They did that to save on money, just like they stopped putting salt or sea salt on the fries to save on money. They kept lowering the quality, and now people are complaining, "Hey, these restaurants are closing down."
You wonder why. How does it work when you increase the amount of hourly wage, but then you lower the quality that makes the people come in and pay you so you can pay the increased hourly wage. I don't know.
I know I'm not Jeff Bezos. I know I'm not Elon Musk, but to me something's not right there.
Something doesn't sit right.
Remember when Wendy's had sea salt fries? Yeah. That's when their fries were the best. And these have no salt on them. So, that's great.
Get into this junior bacon cheeseburger.
Yeah, definitely giving school lunch.
Wow.
I feel like this used to be a lot bigger. Like I know it's a junior. Don't say that. I know it's a junior, but how big is the daddy? Cuz this is small as as it is.
Like dang.
I don't remember Wendy's being this flavorless. Like And this is why they're closing down.
This is why they're shutting down three to 600 stores because of flavorless burgers that they keep selling to people who love flavor.
Mhm. Burger literally tastes like water.
And I think I know why because there's little to no patty on here. Wendy's patties used to be way bigger even in the junior sizes. Their strawberry lemonade was always good. So, hopefully they didn't change the recipe on this.
Mhm.
Mhm. And let's finish this meal off with their Frosty. Their famous Frosty. I always get the chocolate one.
Frosty and fry action.
Mhm. I think I found out why Wendy's is closing.
You know what I just thought about? Let me wear y'all ears and share my random thoughts online. You know why a lot of fast food restaurants are going under?
Not just because they're overpriced.
They forgot who they were. But I can buy the stuff that you sell in the grocery store.
Ooh. She nailed it. Half of y'all are buying stuff that they already sell in the grocery store, prepared for you because you're too lazy to go and prepare it for yourself, or you may not have time, and that's not even a reason or an excuse because you really do have time if you prior- prioritize your health and what you're putting in your body over some of this other stuff that's out here. You know, how fly your jeans are. What What type of shirt you're wearing?
>> [laughter] >> If it's Gucci, or if it's Prada.
The food will make you rise, and it will make you fall. It's all based upon what you put into your body. So, I'm sorry. I just don't have any type of sympathy for these places closing. They pump nothing but processed foods into our communities. They destroy lives. People have cholesterol, heart disease, all these different things because of this food that people buy, and they sell it to you in droves. You You got packed out lines going around back in the day. Not as much now, but packed out lines going around the store in order to get some high cholesterol, clogging, artery-filled food.
That's fast.
Like, why would I come to you for some sorry-ass small-ass, overpriced mozzarella sticks when I can get a whole bag from Kroger for like half the price?
You used to go to the grocery store to get supplies to cook with. Your fruits, your vegetables, your meats, and things of that nature. But, now grocery stores literally are gas stations for the most part. Like, you can get White Castle from the the store.
So, why would I go to White Castle? So, They literally have White Castle burgers that you can warm and heat up in the grocery store. You What y'all don't understand, okay, is they already have a machine that's going to roll out I saw it already on Good Morning America. It It literally they can put the burgers prepackaged in the machine. You can buy it for 20,000 if you want to be a franchise owner.
They'll find the right place to set it up at and people can come up and swipe their card. The machine will warm up the processed food, drop it below This cannot be the apocalypse. This is definitely signs of the apocalypse, okay? And it will The food will drop out and you'll take it and go eat it and it'll taste just like those guys who fixed it on on the on the food line in the in the Wendy's the actual Wendy's restaurant. Yeah.
They just not Is a reason why they shutting down these stores, too. They want to sell you the the burgers that have no flavor coming out of a process out of a box a metal box next to a Kroger's door to get into. You can go in the Kroger's and buy it in the food in a in the frozen aisle or you can buy it right there at the door when you going in the closer Kroger. And that's when the prices are going to get lower because heck what what what why why what Why should I charge you $7 for a burger that you can that I'm just warming up in my microwave for you. Yeah, you can have it for four bucks. Now, when I do go to these places like Applebee's, like I can buy this at home.
Literally, your brand is there. Like the quality is exactly the same.
I used to love going to Papa John's. I There was something about that cheese, baby. I loved them.
And I went there a little while ago.
What the hell is this? Where'd the flavor go? There's nothing special about this. I might as well get a frozen pizza from Publix.
And you know what? It's not even just chain restaurants. A lot of the restaurants After going to Costco business, I can't I can't rationalize buying this from you.
Costco business, Gucci. You go into Costco, you going to see I see the Indian people, I see some of the Chinese folks. Y'all out there they out there got they got all these little um these shopping carts full of food. And what they going to do is go take that food back to the restaurant. You know, the oranges, the lettuce, all the stuff they got there. They going to clean it up, they going to pop it in the microwave or some type of heater, warm it up, and then they going to bring it out and serve you. And you going to be happy. You You going to eat that PF Chang uh fried rice that you thought you got from the Chinese for school store that's fried rice, but no, it is not fried rice, y'all. It is PF Chang in a box coming right out of uh the supermarket. That's what it is. And And you'll And you'll love it. And you'll be happy. You'll be happy. And you'll come and get another plate, too. Where I know you got it from the frozen section at Costco. I guarantee you Cheesecake Factory, if we do the numbers, when everyone found out that they're making their food from fresh, I guarantee you business went up. Cuz I sure went back to them after that.
I had no idea that Cheesecake Factory was making their food fresh. I had no idea. And I had a I love reading these comments. I had a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's the other day. After a while, never again. Not the same. And the price went up. See, these guys changed the recipe.
They changed the recipe. The way they The reason why they changed the recipe is not to improve it. It's to um give you lower quality ingredients. That's what it is. Greed has taken the quality of every out of everything. And they're so right. That's why I say if you focus on quality and value, you will skyrocket. The doors will be packed out around the corner. People will make time to come there because it's fresh and it's high quality and a lot of these big box stores cannot do it. And some of these smaller restaurants needs to stop following them because they only leading you to break bankruptcy. That's it.
That's it. The next place you're going to end up is bankrupt. That's all it's about, okay?
>> Have you noticed that restaurants are dropping like flies in this town? Well, it's not your imagination. Restaurants are getting crushed right now.
Restaurant margins have always been pretty thin, but the real whammy is those third-party delivery apps. They're taking a huge cut of restaurant margins.
Here's what scares me. They're about to start taking even more. This is an SOS.
Now, I'm not implying that you should stop getting your dinner delivered. God forbid. I mean, we live in LA. But I am asking you to please consider ordering directly from the restaurant. I just wanted some fries. And they already have small margins already. If you want the place to stay, support the the place specifically. Drop the DoorDash, get up off the couch, make your order online, and go pick it up. That's how you support your favorite restaurant. The restaurants that you order in through DoorDash DoorDash. Because you know what's also happening?
And I saw this report which is interesting. DoorDash is running around giving its drivers some type of a app that allows them to scan what they're doing, their natural activities. You know what they're doing? They're getting it ready for the robots.
That's how they're teaching their their AI on how to deliver food, how to pick it up, how to avoid when you're crossing the street a car hitting you.
They're training them. They're training the robots to deliver your food.
>> And then and then maybe an apple pie from McDonald's. And then it was in the same plaza, so I went and got it. Medium fries and an apple pie from McDonald's was damn near $7.
That's half the price of this bowl. So I really think we're entering the era of the end of fast food because with the prices nowadays, who is going to justify Who's going to continue to justify being able to eat food that you already know is not good for you and also pay a lot for it. We need to talk about how much a 6-in Subway sandwich costs because apparently I've been living under a rock. This weekend we went to the mall in Illinois to go to the Nike clearance store because it's the cheapest place to get shoes for our kids. Please like don't take that from me. I need it. We're going to make like a special thing. We're going to have lunch at the food court. I have three very young kids. I pay for three kids and take care. We don't go out to eat.
I'm like, all right, let me just get a turkey sub. Like my fave. I'll go to Subway. Subway ruined themselves with the $5 footlong because now that's what everyone expects. But I'm like, okay. It used to be $5 for 12 in.
So surely it's going to be $5 for 6 in.
Right? Inflation can't be that bad.
That's 6-in sub. I just got a sub. No drink, no chips, nothing. A turkey sub.
Turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayo.
$10.
$10.
10.
So they charge you $5 subs and then when they take it to 6 in, they charge you $10 for it.
>> [laughter] >> Some of y'all got to learn to cook, man.
The reason you're experiencing this is because you do not cook. You don't cook at all.
Why don't we cook? What's up with this?
Why don't we Why don't y'all stop messing around with these women that don't even know how to cook and get yourself some a woman that knows how to cook. If you can't cook, dude, you need to get yourself a woman that knows how to cook. Cuz if you don't, you can bet that you're going to be spending a huge amount of of income that you should be discretionary income. You should be putting that away. You should be investing that. But no, you spend it on low-quality food. And as these low-quality restaurants go out of business, I hope and I pray that is that it is the number one recession indicator to you that you need to get somebody in your life that's that can cook, or you need to learn how to cook. Oh, no.
>> Yeah. Nothing wrong with that, girl.
It's nothing wrong with a bad woman that can cook. Dude, don't you just love that? I love a great-looking woman that can cook. And some of y'all women like dudes that can cook, too, you know?
Shoot, I'm I'm raising a boy that can cook. That boy cook bad right now. He cook Man, he I said, "Bro, you're going to be able to decide who you want, when you want, all that stuff. You cook bad."
>> [laughter] >> You're good. Not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good, okay? So, chill out.
>> Okay, y'all. So, I just got to work and I look crazy. I don't care. But, nonetheless, y'all, this store is getting shut down.
I just came in to work and they shouldn't start out.
And we packaged everything up to go to a different store.
I'm going to like try to sneak a record cuz all the higher-ups are here, you know.
But, like Oh my god.
Like, this is crazy. What's wrong with Wendy's? I'll explain on this Fast Food Minute. Now, you've heard of Wendy's, it's a fast-food chain with their irreverent account on the social media site formerly known as Twitter. The company is just coming off one of the worst years in its history. That includes an 11.3% decline in same-store sales in the fourth quarter. Wendy's has not reported a sales result that low in at least 20 years. Wendy's blamed those sales results on a lack of marketing, the delayed launch of a new line of chicken sandwiches, and difficult comparisons because it had a strong quarter a year ago. Uh when they feed you low-quality food, somebody's out there listening. They like, "Hell no. I ain't I'm not buying food right here. No more." For some of y'all that been stubborn, that's why they going out of business. Because the people realize and we realize they feeding us crap. Dude, I went to Popeyes. If you go to the bath If >> [laughter] >> If you If you go eat at a fast-food restaurant and all you can do is hug the toilet afterwards, something is wrong. If you do it one time, if you do it twice, all it take take is one time for me. But some of y'all stubborn. Y'all got to have it twice. Don't you understand that that's an indicator that they didn't they not cooking right. They either using low-quality food or ingredients, or they're not cooking right. They're The conditions are not right in there.
multiple reasons. And then they going to lie to their shareholders. "Oh, our chicken sandwich didn't roll out. Uh that's the reason our numbers are down.
Oh, no. Marketing, we cut that Facebook ad. That's the reason our numbers are down. Dog gone, we should have kept that Facebook ad."
If we would have did it, our numbers would be higher and we would have made it, you know, we would have made profit.
Liar, liar, their pants is on fire. This is what happens when you mess around with a good thing.
This is it. But this chart, which looks at sales on a 2-year basis, shows just how much Wendy's sales have deteriorated regardless of the marketing going on.
It's not marketing. It ain't got nothing to do with marketing. It got to do with quality and the gas just flipped it upside down. Yeah, it costs more for them to ship in their low-quality products that they cut They cut cut cut cut as much as they could. Now you can't cut on gas. Ain't no way you can cut on You got to pay the gas fee. And now they're realizing, man, we got to pay for this gas to ship this low quality stuff in. We might as well just cut the restaurant.
That's it. That's That's it.
Those who bring value to the market at this time will see increase in numbers that shoot up. And I see it. I'm looking at some of these businesses that are high-quality, high-value businesses that you will go and spend your money on, that I spend my money on. They're doing great. Some of these low-quality ones where you know it makes your stomach hurt, where you know you're hugging a toilet afterwards, where you know there's no ingredients, uh there's no value benefit in it, and and it just tastes It don't taste the same way it used to taste before. Man, shoot. That's why they're closing. That's why they're shutting down. And I say good riddance to them all.
Like, subscribe, follow for more content. They are not messing up this our communities anymore with these low-quality foods.
And you feel sorry for the people that used to work there. I I feel sorry for it. That means at one point in time, this was necessary. People who were in college and high school, they took jobs at these at these places in order to make ends meet. Now, college, high school, it doesn't matter. I mean, you'll find 40-year-old people that's working there, and that's their full-time job. And it's sad that these restaurants are closing, and they're losing their jobs. But I can't blame it on the economy. I can't even blame it on anything but greedy greedy restaurants.
If they would have kept the quality the same, who knows?
I'd probably still be eating that Wendy's burger.
Nah, nah, nah. My wife cook. Like, subscribe, follow for more content. I'll see you in the next video. Peace.
