The video provides a raw, unflinching look at the systemic collapse hidden behind Cape Town's aesthetic facade. It serves as a necessary audit of the human cost of urban inequality that polished city branding often ignores.

That is your production center.
Um over there is your Table Mountain.
Morning, brother. Shosholoza.
There we go.
Beautiful morning.
So, it was quite quite quite a bloody week.
And I don't mean bloody as an insult. I literally mean blood and bones on the Cape Flats this week. In the past 2 days alone, there was two mass shootings.
Do you know what's mass shootings? Mass shootings mean that they come and they kill multiple people in a few seconds.
So, I'm going to get some clips and I'm going to play it for you now. The one was in Lotus River and the other one was in Manenberg. Now, in the past 2 days, they killed like 11 people or something.
And then in the in this week, it was like 11 to 15 people. That's just beside the attempted murders and stuff like that.
Um yeah, so let me just play that clips for you.
>> Deadly shootings continue unabated across communities buckling under the spectre of gang violence across the Cape Flats. Here in Lotus River, the latest shooting left four men dead and one seriously injured. Police say the were sitting outside this block of flats when the suspects got out of a car and opened fire.
The victims who died on the scene were aged between 32 and 44.
>> The incident is believed to be linked to gang violence and the anti-gang unit detectives are investigating with no arrests effected yet. The victims were all sitting in front of a block of flats when a vehicle emerged and the occupants opened fire on them.
>> According to the most recently released crime stats, almost 1,000 murders have been committed in the Western Cape between January and March this year. And while this number reflects a decrease of 8% compared to the same period last year, violent crime remains of grave concern.
>> At this stage, we not even sure what is the cause of the shooting, but it is sad that the two to just take people's lives like like it's nothing, like it's meaningless to our community.
Um it's sad that we have to see this in our in our communities on a daily basis.
It may not It may happen today, tomorrow it may be quiet, and then it just continues. It's a vicious cycle that is happening at at this point in time.
>> Mass shootings have rocked areas such as Philippi, Khayelitsha, and Kraaifontein in Stellenbosch with almost daily shootings in areas including Elsies River.
>> Well, it was a bloody weekend in the Western Cape.
>> At least 13 people have been killed in separate mass shooting incidents.
>> In the first incident, three young men were gunned down inside a shack in Makhaza on Sunday evening.
>> Hours later, a second shooting at a shebeen in Endlovini claimed the lives of three more men.
>> Meanwhile, seven others were killed in separate incidents in the Western Cape.
>> Now, police and detectives have been deployed now, and resources have been mobilized as investigations continue.
>> So, guys, I know you see a lot of those plastic houses in my videos, and then you think people don't live in there.
You know guys, someone living in here.
Sorry.
Are you okay, brother?
>> Yeah.
>> Isn't it cold here at night and stuff?
>> No, I'm okay there, man.
Thank you for asking and caring.
>> You know, I feel bad for you, honestly, brother.
>> I don't, brother, man.
>> Okay. Keep yourself now.
>> You too. Thank you, man.
>> No worries, brother.
It's sad.
It's a sad reality we live in, and it's a colored guy just his house is a plastic sheet.
And there was owls in it and stuff.
Yeah.
So, what's happening here is this is the the CBD. So, it's the central business district.
So, this is Cape Town, the main place where you come as tourists and stuff like that.
But now, the thing is that cars are being broken into, like a lot of cars.
Every night there's cars in these houses being broken into, and there's stabbings, >> [snorts] >> and the and the tourists that's like trying to enjoy their night out and stuff like that, they're getting robbed in Long Street.
So, it's full of you people.
And they're saying that it's mainly these guys where I'm going now that's doing it.
So, I just want to show you how it looks. Who are these people?
Got a beautiful view.
Got that.
I'm sorry, this is the most beautiful city in the whole of Africa.
Not the most violent one.
So, I just want to come and investigate who these people are.
What's doing all this?
Crime and stuff like that.
Guys, I just want to say this isn't normal, no.
Just walking up to this because I want to tell you guys something.
>> [snorts] >> When especially in the gang areas here in Cape Town, um when they do the killings and the shootings, they often get out of the area and they come hide in these places from the police.

It's weird.
Okay, guys. So, we're going to a place where outside heads on all of these residents here in CBD. And that is expensive places that's been bought by tourists and people trying to invest their retirement money in. They're saying here under this bridge there's your your your thick bushes.
Yo, I don't even know what the hell I was saying now, guys. A dumb pitbull ran after us. I swear to God.
Almost bit me. I had to run.
Yo, that was crazy. Okay. What was I saying?
Um Oh, yes. So, people um that's from other countries or even our South African brothers and sisters that's looking to invest their money in properties. So, they've purchased properties around this area because they stable mountain like right here. And this is a beautiful area. This is CBD.
Your property is going for millions and millions of rands.
Um so, the neighbor neighbors here and the neighbor what has been complaining about this bridge here. So, we're going to walk through this bridge right now.
Um cuz you know, we don't give a [ __ ] This is our country, our city.

Um I do see some people hanging out at a holiday and stuff like that. But I don't care.
We need to We need to clean our city out, guys. We can't lose it, man.
Um yeah. So, let's have a look.
Um but like I said earlier in the beginning of this video, this this the city of Cape Town has had its bloodiest week in week. And you don't really see news coverage and stuff of it because it's a normal thing. It's a normal thing.
Like Oh, and um okay. I would say for to speak into lighter news, um my place actually got broken into now in the week and they stole quite expensive stuff, guys. Very disappointed.
I [snorts] did see the person on camera, but they were wearing they were wearing a a balaclava.
It's like a alleyway here. They were wearing a balaclava. So, they Yeah, they broke into my place, guys.

And criminal elements under this bridge.
>> [snorts] >> It's what I do, you guys.
This is crazy, you all guys. Crazy.
This is our inner city.
I would say it's a city that hides.
This is not how the CBD should look, guys.
This is crazy.
This is crazy.
There's your government building over there that you see.
Um, that's like a Rockefeller apartment in the four-story. There's your train lines.
This is the end tool here that takes you into Cape Town CBD.
There's um I think it's Lion's Head.
God looks at you, guys.
Look at this. There's human feces everywhere.
There's human feces everywhere.
There's people doing a braai or something over there. They do look like criminals.

>> Monica.
>> Sorry?
>> Monica.
>> Monica is her name, and she's living here under a bridge. And Monica, where do you get your food from?
Do you get um do you ask for help and all and stuff like that?
Do you get help?
Is there no shelter you can live in, Monica?
Is there shelter? So, why do you prefer here on the streets? Is it safer here than in the shelters?
You don't know. Okay. But if people want to help you, where can they find you?
Where do you stay if people want to come help you?
Okay. Okay. Look after yourself, Monica.
God bless you, okay?
>> Okay, thank you.
>> Sure.

Like I told you, there is some genuine people that that that that wants help and stuff.
And then there is the criminals that's hiding amongst them. So, they're starting to band together and stuff.
Especially the under that one section where we were.
And there's two standing on the one corner and there was two standing on the other corner and then a few of them was gathering together and stuff. You know what I mean?
So, I think it's just safer we go to another area right now.

Some people is walking here.
Morning, sir.
So, this center this center over here that was quite controversial for the past few months.
Um it's it's a landmark and people really um feel some type of way towards it because it reminds them of the past and it reminds them of how great this city used to be and >> [clears throat] >> they just feel done over that this city sold it to a foreigner. So if I'm correct, they sold it to a Nigerian pastor for a few millions and people want to know how he got the authority to buy it because the people that's wouldn't say the city but the the people who's not getting paid but who also is heritage involved in the city, he's saying that how did he get authorization to sell this amazing building to a foreigner and stuff like that. So it's people feel really done over by that.
Um I don't know if people can remember this building over here. It used to be Gallery and Liquid.
Um yeah.
Remember that back in the days.
Um that building over there that's new.
That's a new building.
Um that's a car wash over there.
I just saw a new building there.
And then there's um Paint Tech is here behind.
So as you can see guys, this place is covered in and and full of like dirt.
>> [cough] >> Sorry, I'm still not well.
It's covered in dirt and human feces needles, drugs, gangsters, bad elements.
Yeah.
Anyway, thank you guys. Appreciate it.
