This footage captures the disturbing reality of digital mobilization outstripping social maturity, where public spaces are sacrificed for the sake of viral clout. It highlights a systemic breakdown of the social contract that reactive policing alone cannot fix.

"Why Are They Dancing On Cars, Tearing Everything Up..." 196 Police Officers Try To Stop NJ TakeoverAdded:
say six arrests were made in connection to the craziness and chaos here in Long Branch. And now the city has a stern warning for anybody who comes here with the intention of participating in disorder or violence that you will be arrested and prosecuted.
>> The sounds and sights of chaos by the beachfront in Long Branch Tuesday night.
>> It was like the WWE yesterday. People jumping and dancing on cars along with fights breaking out. Just some of the mayhem police say played out as several hundred teens and young adults descended onto the Pure Village area. Many of them by train.
>> It was 95Β° out Tuesday, first nice day of the year, and everyone comes here because it's the closest beach in the whole shore. You know, >> I feel like it always happens down here.
Long bridge is now like the prime spot.
>> The craziness led to an emergency 8:00 p.m. curfew. And then all of a sudden the uh security for the resort came out and said that we had to get in the resort. They were locking it down. Then we got the Amber Alert on our phones that uh there was an imminent threat uh at Pure Village.
>> 139 officers responded to the chaos along the boardwalk and surrounding streets, including 70 from other departments. Six people in all were arrested.
>> So I feel like we should just stop the violence literally cuz it runs with all of us. And as Memorial Day weekend kicks off, the city says beachgoers can expect a strong visible police presence with eyes also on social media where the takeovers are promoted.
>> If you look at this picture right here, just let's just observe it and let's just take it all in.
We know who the perpetrators are. And I'm not opposed to people going and having fun and for even a place to be overwhelmed with a lot of people that want to go to the beach at the same time. I think that that's reasonable when the weather break people are ready to get outside. Especially if you don't live over in a warm climate like California where it's normal for it to be warm outside. And even then, you know, once the weather get past a certain level, then it becomes beach time. You know what I'm saying? So, I'm not tripping off of fun. I think that fun is good, but I am tripping off of the fact that it's always us, a certain demographic of people that got to get out and twerk on cars and destroy stuff. Why you got to stand on cars? You know what I'm saying? And then they'll sit there and act like, "Oh, we don't know what's going on. Oh, it's racism. It's people that's against us.
Oh, they stereotyping us." Well, why wouldn't they?
If you present yourself in every single situation and capacity, and I don't think it's black people, but of course it's black culture, but black people are not absolved from black culture because there's plenty of black people that embrace black culture. What do you think is going to happen? Why do you think that the world is going to change their perception of you? And maybe you don't want your perception changed when you do stuff like this. This is this it's just dumb. It's disrespectful. It's stupid.
It's unnecessary.
And people are sit there wondering why people feel some type of way about them coming into their neighborhoods, their communities, and even their cities just to party.
>> What could stop it? Um, to be honest, nothing. Social media took over.
>> Police and other short towns say they are aware of social media posts promoting these takeovers and popup parties ahead of the holiday weekend.
Places like Wildwood, for example, trying to get ahead of any issues by implementing a 10 p.m. curfew for minors as well as a 1:00 a.m. closure of the boardwalk. Reporting in Long Branch, I'm Angelo Bavaro, Pix 11 News.
>> What happened in Long Branch, New Jersey last night was so chaotic, the town used its public alert system to tell residents to take shelter. Authorities say several hundred young people descended on Long Branch for a popup gathering. And now police are stepping up patrols. New Jersey reporter Christine Sloan shows us what happened.
>> They're on top of a car.
>> Oh my god.
>> Shocking video on Tuesday shows young people on top of a vehicle in Long Branch's Pier Village during the gathering down the Jersey Shore. It really was a ton of people just screaming, running, uh people just jumping on top of cars, dancing on top of cars.
>> Anthony Pezy staying at a resort shot the video.
>> The security for the resort came out and said that we had to get in the resort.
They were locking it down.
>> Police say 139 officers had to be activated from both Long Branch and other agencies like the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office. You can see police and riot gear lining the streets and pushing the large crowd out. Authorities say six arrests were made. That includes two adult women and three juvenile females, all Newark residents. On the boardwalk Wednesday, officers stationed on every corner checking coolers and bags.
>> Sometimes I feel like certain people think they're having fun when they're fighting, but it's really not fun at the end of the day.
>> It's just a bunch of rioting. I feel like it always happens down here. Long Branch is now like the prime spot.
Everyone just comes here and just like goes absolutely berserk. Long Branch officials say they instituted an 800 p.m. curfew and they're prepared to do it again.
>> Social media took over. There ain't nothing you can do to stop that. It's going to keep happening.
>> Long Branch's business administrator also sending out a warning saying anyone coming to the shore town to engage in violence will be arrested and prosecuted. A >> little scary for me. Like I didn't know was happening >> in Seaside Heights. The police chief tells me they'll institute a curfew this weekend if need be. He also says they're not allowing backpacks on the beach at all. in Long Branch down the Jersey Shore. Christine Sloan, CBS News, New York.
>> Police tell us that they are investigating two aggravated assaults as well as one car theft. There was no property damage.
>> So, basically what you're seeing and what you're witnessing right here is the culture. And of course they're going to sit there and act like it's the police fault or that the police are being overly aggressive when now you got to remove backpacks all together. It's not uncommon for people to be able to walk with backpacks because you have to travel or you have to park further away and then you take your backpack, you take your chairs, you take whatever it is that you want over to the beach so that you can enjoy the day. Now me, I'm not necessarily a beach person. I'm more of a balcony person overlooking the water and seeing what's going on or going down to the resort and just kind of chilling and getting a cabana type of person. You know what I'm saying? Cuz you know, I I don't really care about all of that. But I understand people that do. It's unnecessary for you to be twerking on cars. It's unnecessary for there to be violence. It's unnecessary for you to not follow the rules. And again, I get it. I understand it. It makes sense. It's not that I don't understand what's going on in the culture or that people like to have fun, but what I do want people to do is to be safe. And anytime that visitors, right, because you got to understand it from an economic perspective also, you got tourists and people that come and visit there. One of the places that I like to visit a lot is Beluxy, Mississippi. And in Beluxy, Mississippi, you know, it's kind of a hidden gem, but it's not a hidden gem. But if you know, you know, type of situation and so you go down to Buxy, Mississippi, and it's one of the places that I like to visit on a regular basis.
You can drive over to New New Orleans from Beluxy and have a good time, but I would never stay in New Orleans. I'm always coming back to Buxy. Now, let's say hypothetically that you start to see a demographic or super ghettoness start to invade Beluxy, Mississippi. Well, guess what? I'mma then take my tourist dollars and what I would like to do and I'mma move over into a different environment, a different area that I can actually enjoy and chill. Why? Because I don't want to be dealing with this. I'm not interested in dealing with a situation where you got to have police lights everywhere, where you got to have, you know, make sure that people's cars is not being tore up, make sure that there is no additional twerking, making sure that there's no problems, no issues, no trouble, that continues to take over. And when you got to deploy over 139 police officers from several different cities and several different agencies in order to protect y'all way of life because the damage that can be done can be way bigger and more than you know what I'm saying and whatever fun is being had or whatever. That's a problem.
And everybody don't want their place to be ghetto. Everybody don't want everything to be tow up. Everybody don't want everything to be messed up. And so now you see um an influx of police officers. I didn't even know about this place, Longhorn, Long Ranch, whatever, New Jersey. Um, it's supposed to be a hidden gem and people are descending on it and it kind of make everybody look bad. And I and I'm going to be honest, I don't think that everybody that went there is ghetto. I don't think that everybody that went there was looking to have a problem. But when you have problematic people that take over a specific area and do a certain thing, then it kind of messes up all of the different things that's going on inside of inside of the culture and it makes everybody looks bad look bad because nobody can get themselves together.
Nobody can figure out how to take care of business and nobody can really get themselves in a position where they change the stereotypes of people that perceive them to be a certain way. And so everybody get apprehensive when you then come into this, you know, when when you start to engage us, right? It's not all black people. It's a segment of black people. Where are the parents?
It's the same questions that happen over and over. Even when we talking about schools, right? We always say where is the parents? We see what's happening in Chicago. We see what's happening in New Jersey. We see what's happening everywhere. And now no place is off limits because all you need is a few people to say this is where we going on social media. Everybody is going to converge on it and then it turns into absolute chaos and destruction and this is what you see. Neighborhoods, people, all of this type of stuff and now they got to try to run people up out of there and it make it seem like it's something that it's really not. I don't know.
