Fuel Prices Surge As Petrol Nears Rs 100 In Delhi Amid Global Oil Crisis | Fuel Price ShockAdded:
Meanwhile, the fuel prices have been increased once again, marking the third hike in the last 2 weeks. Petrol prices have gone up by 87 paise per liter, while diesel prices have increased by 91 paise per liter. Petrol in New Delhi will now cost 99.51 rupees per liter after the 87 paise increase, and diesel prices in the national capital have gone up to 92.49 rupees per liter after a 91 paise rise. Prices were first raised by 3 rupees per liter on May 15th. Another increase of 90 paise followed on May 19th, and then on May 23rd, which is today, there's another increase of approximately 90 paise [music] once again. With the latest revision, fuel prices have risen by nearly 5 rupees per liter in [music] total over the last 10 days. Even CNG price in Delhi have been hiked by 1 rupee. Now, CNG is being sold at 81.09 rupees per kg in the national capital, and the latest hikes come come at a time when the government is facing uh pressure from rising global crude oil prices caused by the Iran war.
The day begins with a bitter news for sure for the common man across the country, because fuel prices have increased yet again, third time in 9 days. And what does that mean? If you live in Delhi, this is Indian Oil petrol pump. Now, uh every liter of petrol will come for 99 rupees and 51 paise. So, there is a 87 paise increase in the petrol prices. As far as the diesel prices are concerned, I'll ask Jagannath to come this side, uh where you have uh people queuing up on the petrol pump quite early in the day, you know, to get their vehicles refueled, possibly not even knowing the price hike that has happened. And the diesel prices have gone up by 91 paise. So, that means that if you are in Delhi, it would cost you 92 rupees 49 paise per liter. Fir se fuel ka price badha hai, aap log iske liye maafi So right there, people also understanding that there are global factors which are leading to this price hike and there could be mixed reaction to it. So these are people who are just waking up to the reality of increased fuel prices, be it petrol or diesel. But I'm given to understand that CNG prices have gone up as well. So as I was mentioning, this does not only mean costlier petrol and diesel for your vehicle, costlier transportation, you know, as far as your commodity is concerned, things coming to your kitchen is concerned. Everything gets costlier from here. In less than 10 days, petrol and diesel prices have gone up by 5 rupees and today, for the third time after that increment of 87 paisa in petrol, the petrol will cost you 99 rupees 54 paisa per liter if you are buying it in Delhi at a HP petrol pump. And for diesel, you will have to spend 92 rupees 53 paisa per liter, which means 91 paisa increment in the diesel prices as well. So 91 paisa increment in diesel prices, 87 paisa increment in the petrol prices, and the common man today is also thinking about the impact on their budget.
>> You also concerned because of this up to be gentle or here.
The trouble is not only on the concern rather I would say is not only for those with petrol and diesel vehicles as far as CNG is concerned there's another hike in CNG prices as well. The CNG prices have gone up by rupee one in the national capital. So now it would cost you 81 rupees 9 paisa per kg. The picture stands today that CNG prices have gone up by rupee one and diesel prices have gone by up by 91 paisa. The petrol prices have gone up by 87 paisa per liter with video journalist Jagannath. This is Amit Bharadwaj reporting for India today from Delhi.
In fact as global oil tensions rise US Secretary of State Marco Rubio before his India visit had made a major pitch for deeper energy ties with India saying that Washington wants to sell New Delhi as much energy as they will buy. Rubio also revealed that Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez is expected to visit India next week hinting at possible discussions around Venezuelan crude as India looks to diversify its energy basket amid the global supply uncertainty. Calling India a great ally and partner Rubio underlined that energy security, strategic cooperation, and the quad meeting in Delhi will be key focus areas during his visit. Listen in.
We want to sell them as much energy as they'll buy and obviously you've seen I think we're at historic levels of US production and US export. We want to be able to to more. We were already in talks with them to do more. We want it to be a bigger part of their of their portfolio. We also think there's opportunities with Venezuelan oil. Um in fact, it's my understanding that uh the interim president of Venezuela will be traveling to India next week uh as well. So, um there's opportunities. There's a lot to work on with India. They're a great ally, a great partner. We do a lot of good work with them. And so, it is an important trip. I'm glad we're able to do it cuz I think there'll be a lot for us to talk about. And we'll also meet with the quad there, which is important. Something I think my first meeting as Secretary of State was with the quad.
So, now the fuel gets even more costlier. There has been a third price hike within a matter of 10 days. Third uh fuel price hike. Let's take a look at where do the prices currently stand in different parts of the country. If you talk about Delhi, uh the petrol price currently is now at 99.5 rupees after the 87 paise increase. And the diesel prices are now at 92.49 per liter after [music] the 91 paise increase uh today. Let's also talk about Kolkata. The price of petrol is now at 110.64 uh 64 rupees per liter. This is after an increase of 94 paise. Uh if you talk about diesel, the prices are at 97.02 rupees per liter after an increase of 95 >> [music] >> paise. Let's also talk about uh Mumbai.
The prices uh the petrol prices are now at 108.49 after a 90 paise increase. Whereas diesel will now cost around 95.02 rupees per liter after an increase of 94 paise. And uh then comes Chennai where uh petrol will now cost 105.31 [music] rupees per liter after an increase of 82 paise. Whereas uh diesel will now cost 96.98 rupees after an increase of 87 paise.
So, that's what the figures look like.
That's what the prices of petrol and diesel look like after the third hike in a matter of 10 days.
>> [music] >> So, this is the third hike. Let's take a look at the past hikes, the past two hikes [music] of petrol and diesel. So, on May 15th, the prices were hiked by rupees three per liter and that was applicable to both petrol and diesel. [music] Then came May 19th, there was a hike of around 90 paise per liter in the prices of petrol and diesel. [music] And on May 23rd, which is today, we saw the third hike in a matter of 10 days and the third hike on petrol was around 87 paise per liter and if you talk about diesel, this was around 91 paise per liter. So, from May 15th till May 23rd, the prices have been approximately increased [music] by five rupees. This is the This is the fuel price hike we're talking about those there has been an increase of approximately five rupees in the prices of fuel. [music] Now, let's also take a look at what's happening with the CNG because the CNG prices have also been hiked once again. There has been a third hike in the prices of CNG as well.
On May 15th, there was a hike of two rupees per kg. Then on May 17th, there was a hike of one rupee per kg [music] in the prices of CNG. And on May 23rd, which is today, there was a third hike in the CNG prices as well of one rupee.
So, in total, the CNG prices have been hiked by four rupees in a matter of 10 days, whereas if you talk about petrol and diesel, the prices have been hiked by five rupees. So, it's not just the fuel price hike that has happened today, but also a hike in CNG prices of one rupee.
