Time to replace a 35-year-old raspberry bush?Añadido:
I have raspberries that I've been growing for 35 years and they come back every year, which is wonderful.
But recently last few years I think what I'm seeing is raspberry bushy dwarf virus. Yeah. The berries don't fully form and they all and they all kind of crumple up together and are not as edible. So do I just have to pull them all out or is there anything I can do about that? Yeah, unfortunately Rick, you're probably going to have to remove them. That's a mosaic virus that eventually raspberries or any of the brambles will start getting, especially 35 years. I think that's really amazing.
>> That's incredible. You've been able to grow them that long without having this virus. But it does come in insects remove it from wild plants to the cultivated plants. And so once you have it the the canes are dwarf, the the leaves are kind of stunted and misshapen and the berries themselves are they have a symptom called crumble berry where they just kind of crumble apart. So yes, unfortunately I think it's time to get rid of that bed, find another location in your yard and start with a new bed and look for some of the newer varieties that might have better disease resistance.
