[00:00:22]Vegetable prices in Panjim markets have shot up sharply over the past few days leaving homemakers worried. Traders say reduced supply and transport related from neighboring states are behind the sudden increase. Since Goa depends heavily on imported vegetables, even minor supply issues are quickly pushing prices higher. Adding more pressure on already stretched household budgets.

[00:01:04]The heat wave is now hitting poultry prices too. Chicken in the state is selling close to 200 rupees per kilo while egg prices have climbed up to 95 rupees a dozen. Vendors say extreme summer temperatures are reducing poultry production while rising costs to feed, water and electricity are making matters worse for traders and consumers alike with prices rising almost every week. It is the middle-class family and the everyday consumer who are feeling the biggest impact. From buying vegetables to basic kitchen essentials, many are now being forced to rethink about their monthly budgets.
