[00:00:00]So, I really wanted to get at this issue of inequality slightly differently than the way I got at it in the last book.

[00:00:06]And the way I got at it in the last book was a bit more straightforward, which is inequality is partly about how people face very different conditions to meet quite similar needs. But doing this project, I also then decided I need to paint a picture of how inequality provides a context. There is something about the broader environment that shapes everybody's lives. By thinking about how competition and hierarchy and sorting and a sense of differential worth, that these things kind of permeate our everyday lives, becomes very salient.
