Coulomb's Law states that the electric force between two charged particles is directly proportional to the product of their charges (q1 and q2) and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them (r²), meaning doubling the distance reduces the force to one-fourth; opposite charges attract while like charges repel, and the electric field direction points away from positive charges and toward negative charges.

What is Coulomb's Law? | Electrostatics & Physics本站添加:
Coulomb's law tells us how strongly two charges attract or repel each other. If they have opposite signs, the force pulls them together.
The larger the charges, the stronger the force. It's directly proportional to the product of Q1 and Q2.
But distance works differently. If we double the distance R, the force becomes four times weaker. That's why we have R squared in the denominator of the formula. The constant K simply scales the force to our system of measurement.
The electric field shows the direction.
It points away from the positive charge and into the negative one.
