The truth is there is extreme labor shortage in Ireland and they really need to hire foreign workers. So, they just announced some changes that will make it easier for foreign workers to move to Ireland for work. They have updated the shortage occupation list and added new occupations to this list. So, now more people will be able to land jobs in Ireland with visa sponsorship, move to Ireland to work. So, in today's video I'm going to show you this updates directly from the Irish government and I will also show you the work permits, where to get jobs, the employers that are currently sponsoring visas, and all of that. [00:04:53]All right, so let us start by reading the updates. Okay, let's start there.

[00:04:57]That's a very good place to start. All right, let's quickly read this. This is from Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, right? So, let us read this announcement. It was made on the 28th of May, just a few days ago.

[00:05:10]Ministers Burke and Dillon announced new employment permits to support homes, health, and transport. Changes target skills shortages across construction, health care, transport, and agri-food sectors.

[00:05:26]So, Minister of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, and Minister of State with special responsibility for retail, small businesses, and employment, Allan Dillon, have today announced a series of updates to Finland's employment permits system to address ongoing skills and labor shortages across key sectors. So, you can see here that they have skills and labor shortage in the country at the moment. So, the measures are designed to support industries experiencing acute shortages across the EU construction sector, the healthcare sector, and transport sector, and the agri-food sectors.

[00:06:03]A total of 32 changes to jobs eligible for an employment permits are now confirmed following a comprehensive review that commenced in summer of 2025.

[00:06:15]So, these are the changes.

[00:06:17]Number one, six roles are recommended to be made eligible for critical skills employment permits. So, this is the permits that, you know, focuses on attracting foreign workers for the skills that are in shortage. There is a critical skills occupation list, right?

[00:06:35]Which lists all these skills that are in shortage. And what is special about the roles on that list is that if your role is on that list and you get a job offer, you're going to be applying for these critical skills employment permits. So, they're specific employment permits for the roles that are on the critical skills occupation list. And there are so many perks about that. Faster pathway to permanent residency, you get even faster permits processing as well, and you also go with your family immediately. So, number two here is nine roles are recommended to be made eligible for general employment permits. So, they're also adding nine roles to that list as well without quota.

[00:07:19]And then two roles are recommended to be made eligible for GEP subject to newly established quotas. GEP is a general employment permits. So, 15 roles are recommended to have their existing GEP quotas renewed as well. So, this is really amazing. The government has also approved a proposal by the minister has preparations to amend the employment permits act 2024 with regard to the critical or the criteria that restricts the number of employment permits individual employers can hold. That is the 50/50 rule. This 50/50 rule means that an employer must ensure at least 50% of his workforce are UK or EEA nationals. This is to implement findings of an internal review of the impact of this rule on the health and social care sector. So, this rule is not favoring the workforce at all. So, they need to take off this rule so that they can hire more foreign workers into the system.

[00:08:21]So, this is really good news. So, let us look at the critical skills occupation list. They have not updated it yet with the new rule. So, I'll be looking out to see when they update it. You can see the last one here was updated in 2024, right? So, very soon we're going to see the new occupations here. But, for now these are the occupations that are on this list.

[00:08:42]I've shown this list like several times on the channel. I have so many videos for Ireland because like I said, there's been so much interest in moving to Ireland and people have really bought the ebook. Like the ebook went viral.

[00:09:03]If your occupation is here, then you know, you can apply for the critical skills employment permit. The critical skills employment permit is designed to attract highly skilled people into the labor market with the aim of encouraging them to take up permanent residence in the state. So, the whole purpose of this is to attract foreign workers, you know, to come to Ireland and become permanent residents and even citizens, right? So, they really really need foreign workers and they have set aside this pathway to make it possible for you to come to Ireland, work, and settle here. And also come with your family right? So, as you're moving to Ireland to begin your new job, your family's coming with you. You You don't need to leave your family behind and go ahead of them. So, let us see the current employers. So, this is a list of all the employers that have hired foreign workers. And this is very current. The last one we have here are the ones issued in May. So, you can see January 2026, February, March, April, and May.

[00:10:02]So, they have They've already uploaded the May reports, even though May just ended a few days ago. So, these are the list of the employers. There are over 6,000 of them on this list. So, what can you do with this list? This is a list you can use to apply for jobs, right?

[00:10:16]Cuz this is a list of companies that uh actively hiring foreign workers, that have hired foreign workers this year alone, right? So, this is current. So, you know that yes, they are currently and actively sponsoring work permits.

[00:10:29]So, you can just use this to apply.

[00:10:32]So, if you're a doctor, for example, you can apply to the Doc on Call Limited.

[00:10:37]You can apply to Care Services Limited, if you're in healthcare as well. So, by the names of the companies, you would know what industry they are in. And of course, there are some roles that work in every industry, like maybe accountants, HR, you know, and things like that. You can function in any industry. And tech roles as well.

[00:10:54]So, you can just um copy a name here.

[00:10:57]So, you copy it, put it on Google, you see the company website, you can go to the careers page, and apply for the jobs they have open. There are some companies that don't have their own website, so you're going to be seeing the job vacancies advertised on job boards and recruitment agencies. And there are some companies that do have their own websites, but they still outsource the recruitment, so you'll still be seeing their job openings on job boards and recruitment agencies. So, don't just rely on what you see on the website only. Not every company has like an in-house tech person to be updating the website, so you can also look around to find these jobs. Also, look for jobs on LinkedIn as well, cuz LinkedIn is a very good place to find jobs, too. So, I'm really excited about this updates in Ireland.
