Grocery Prices: USA🇺🇸 vs JAPAN🇯🇵Ajouté :
I'm going to make myself sad by comparing America and Japan's grocery prices. Since America's been upping its inflation game recently, I'm not entirely sure which one will be more depressing. Starting with bread. In the USA, it's about 10 cents per slice, while in Japan it's 23 cents, making Japanese bread 2.3 times more expensive.
But Japanese bread is totally worth it.
Next are just some standard apples. For one American Honeycrisp, it costs 87 cents compared to Japan, which costs $1.17 for one of these Fuji's. So Japanese apples are 1.3 times more expensive. Next up, chicken breast. USA is $2.89 per pound, where Japan when adjusted back to pounds is $4.71, making Japan 1.6 times more expensive. For milk, a gallon in America costs $3.29, but if you were to buy a gallon in Japan, it would cost a whopping $11.20, making Japanese milk 3.4 times more expensive. That is crazy. And of course, eggs. In America, you get a dozen, but in Japan you only get 10. One egg in the USA costs 17 cents, but in Japan it costs 26 cents, making eggs 1.5 times more expensive in Japan. It was kind of painful to see Japan lose on everything, but I bet you can't get fresh supermarket sushi in a Kroger in the Midwest.
