Divorce triggers the nervous system into survival mode due to uncontrollable factors and high-stakes uncertainty, causing physical symptoms like stomach pits, chest tightness, and jaw clenching, while also leading to emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and reactive decision-making; healing requires learning to ground oneself emotionally through affirmations and shifting from fear-based responses to centered, self-trusting decisions.

How Divorce Dysregulates Your Nervous System | Rebuild Self-Trust After DivorceAjouté :
If you're going through a divorce, your nervous system is shot. How do I know?
Cuz I've done it three times. And I've coached hundreds of women through theirs. Divorce will put your body in survival mode because there's so much [ __ ] that's outside of your control, so many unknown factors, and the stakes feel really high. Every notification from your attorney or from your ex on your phone or from or in your email, it feels like a threat. You immediately get that pit in your stomach, your chest feels tight, shoulders are up to your [ __ ] ears, clenching your jaw day long. You're exhausted, but you can't sleep because your brain is trying to predict every possible outcome. What if this happens? What if I make the wrong decision? What if everything falls apart? And that's normal. Your brain thinks that it's protecting you. But staying in a constant state of hyper-vigilance and fear, that is actually working against you. Cuz when your nervous system is dysregulated, you stop trusting yourself, overthink, and you spiral, and you react emotionally, start making decisions from fear instead of from clarity. Name of the game when it comes to divorce is learning how to ground yourself emotionally so that you can respond from a centered place, not survival. Because your inner dialogue affects your entire body. The thoughts that you repeat every single day are either keeping your body in panic or helping you feel safe. I want you to repeat these affirmations with me. I have everything I need to handle what comes next. I don't need to control every outcome to be okay. I trust myself to make grounded decisions for my future. I am becoming calmer, stronger, and more emotionally stable every day.
Your power comes back the second you stop letting fear lead your life.
